This is my greatest achievement as a costumer. This costume took me almost 200 hours of building and sculpting. Aside from pointers here and there, some assistance with the leotard, and getting the leather stitched down on my boots by a cobbler, (and the lightsaber which was made by Nocturne Armory--if you have any questions about the saber, I didn't make it so please direct your questions towards them, thank you!) I made everything. Wig was also styled by me, big pain but I love how it came out.
Photo and lightsaber editing by Bill Hicks of Alter Ego Portraits. Thank you so much Bill!
I'm not going to answer questions about my left arm anymore. I portrayed pre-accident Tenel Ka, and chose not to do something cheesy like hide my arm behind me or photoshop it out.
I said I would post this, so here it is, my Mara Jade cosplay from Celebration VI in Orlando.
So what did it take to make it? The cape clasp I crafted from Sculpey, and the cape itself is linen. The catsuit is one I ordered, cut the sleeves off of, and tailored in. I eventually plan to make a proper catsuit with the panels and seams when I can spring for the fabric. The belts are made by recovering vinyl belts with leather from a cut apart pair of pants, and then staining the leather with shoe polish. This gave the belts the rigidity and soft edge I wanted, and made sure that they all matched in hue. I used the Custom Saber Shop for obtaining my lightsaber parts. The most time-consuming part of this costume was the back plate. It is made up of the remains of a plate for a shower head and the cup from an ash-tray, melded together with a fair amount of Bondo. It was a fun headache to make and have ready in time for the convention, but I was really happy with it.
