Sol.Terra - Episode 1.1: Terra DayCal stepped into the doorway of his shuttle and raised a hand to shield his eyes. The light on Terra was so harsh, particularly this continent. He reached into his coat and pulled out the tinted glasses and the bio-scanner he carried. Slipping the glasses on, he checked the scanner screen to make sure he had landed in the right place. The readout confirmed it: Sol.Terra, Australia, Sydney. A small blip on the corner of the screen told him the Soschan he’d been sent to find wasn’t far away. Too violent for IU membership, many Soschans had taken to using their unique camouflage ability to emigrate Off-World illegally. This suited Cal just fine, as it gave him an excuse to travel there as well to pick them up.Sol.Terra - Episode 1.1: Terra Day1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This

When he hears Obi-Wan call Qui-Gon Master, it is as if the ship has lurched beneath him; he has been terribly nowhat slaver would go through such an elaborate ruse to capture one boy, even a top racer? And he can sense the rightness, as surely as if he were beholding the wonders of the Jedi Temple already. (He is not sure what those wonders are, as mostly when he imagined Jedi they were flying or fighting, but right now the air seems as imbued with promise as with oxygen.)
So he assesses Obi-Wan again, and sees a man younger, less scarred, than Qui-Gons example had lead him to imagine Jedi to be; were he raised in Mos Espa, Anakin thought, Obi-Wan would be...what? A gambler, a farmer, a vagrant? He does not seem to fit any of those molds. On Tatooine, anyone with such...such a shy sort of politeness, paired with the authority and skill shown by the fact he carried a lightsaber, would be left alone.
Obi-Wan was waiting when Anak

I do not know who you are, or what your motivations may be, but though you have not been in my life at all times, you were always there when it really mattered.
I wondered sometimes who -or what- you are. For a while I thought that perhaps you were the spirit of my mother, and I would remember her last promise to me: that she would be by my side, always and forever; that I would never be alone. But though I feel her spirit watching over me, you are not her. I have felt your guiding presence even before my mother's death. I felt your helplessness echoed in mine as we desperately pulled at the wood that pinned her down.
Perhaps you were the spirit shown to me by our people’s artifact. Juno, she called herself? But your presence does not feel like hers. Hers was cold, distant and alien. She did not care for me or my fellow men. Your touch was…different. For one reason or another, I

Of all the battles which are sung, none are as noble, brave, and true
As the tale of this single ruinous one, that I shall try to sing for you
An enormous fight so horrific, that it is spoken of with dread
And the old ones still weep, for the many that are dead
Through lies and treachery, armies assembled on that plain
Not knowing, not even guessing, that there was nothing to gain
This battle was the fifth and last of the war being fought
A devastating conflict that by the end, was all for naught
A mighty alliance forged from three strong and steadfast races
Dwarves, Elves, and Men, still could not resist Morgoth's deadly maces
Try as they might, they failed, and that hallowed ground is named
Nirnaeth Arnoediad, Tears Unnumbered, for the warriors that lay maimed
The sunrise mist had not yet left the field when the battle cry was called
But it did not take long, for the Alliance to break and fall
Why, you may ask, was this so, when the union of these races was tight

CIS vs GAR WarshipsCIS Warships vs. Republic warshipsCIS vs GAR Warships7 years ago in Philosophy & Perspectives More Like This
The Republic seems to have the advantage in capital ship combat, but the CIS has some equalizing advantages.
Many of the CIS warships are designed for mass production, and were designed for business scores not a full scale war. Many of the CIS leaders were cheap, and wouldnt spend the money for a traditional fleet. Only the Providences seem to be specifically designed for combat. The Lukrehulks are simply converted freighters with VERY strong shields and some turbolaser offensive capability., but with the sheer number of Turbolasers and the shield power added, with the fighter and troop compliment, a Lucrehulk is much a more battle-worthy ship than a carrier like a Venator (why it takes a flotilla to take them down). That's not bad at all for a converted ship, isn't it The Recusants are mass-produced destroyers. The Munificents are originally used to harass worlds heavily in debt, guard treasure vaults, and transfer finan

Anakin opened the door of their suite and looked up past the brown folds of Jedi cloak to a masked alien face. She could not have been older than five, not if her species aged like Anakins.
Without looking around, he called out, Master Obi-Wan?

No love left to take,
Only one memory; her name was Belle.
