"Learn about art, Captain..."

The Master Planner is submitting Star Wars fanart?! :icongwahplz:

But that's okay, because the newest addition to my ever-popular Plushie Madness subgallery is the Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo (but you can call him Thrawn for short ;p), the Big Bad of Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy. The phenomenal success of those books are directly responsible for the metric shittonne of Star Wars Expanded Universe novels you can find at a bookstore near you. :aww:

If TVTropes.org published a dictionary and you opened it to the entry for Magnificent Bastard it would have a picture of Thrawn for illustration. Because any fucker can kick ass when you've a lightsaber and the Force...when you can kick everyone's ass and nearly break the New Republic with no special abilities except a genius IQ and the ability to tell your opponent's personality and tactics just by studying art that they've drawn, and when the notoriously racist and sexist Empire breaks their "no aliens" rule to hire your blue ass, then you're on the Master Planner's win list. :la:

For more information, read Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command, as well as Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future, the sequel duology, and Outbound Flight, the prequel.

Or if you're a lazy piece of shit, read this: [link]

I remade this plushie after three years and I'm still not entirely satisfied with the picture. But I did make a better ysalamir this time around! Oh and before you ask, an ysalamir is a creature who developed the ability to repel the Force as a defense mechanism against predators. Hey, when you have to work around Sith Lords and mad Jedi every day, you take precautions.

"Stands" approximately 13" tall. Materials for Thrawn include Loops and Threads Impeccable in clear blue; Tahki Yarns Cotton Classic in white, black; Plymouth 24K in gold; Cascade Yarns Pima Tencel in midnight; DMC embroidery floss; buttons; FolkArt and Americana acrylic paints. Materials for happy ysalamir include Bernat Satin in goldenrod, pipe cleaners, and safety eyes.

My clubs, including :iconthrawn-fans:, have permission to post this in their club galleries.

~Done for my beloved cousin Jesse Augustus for his birthday, at his request ~

The last time my younger cousins dropped by for a quick visit, about a month ago now, I had brought my Senbonzakura along to show off, since Iíd finished him the night before. Both of them were impressed by the sword (figures :D) and didnít believe thatís what I was working on now.

Getting excited about it, the older of the two started telling me all about this book he was reading, and the character he liked in it. I started making notes about Will from The Rangerís Apprentice, and was asked if I could make a plushie of him for his birthday this year.

Checking around google, I found a few references to boot, and put him together not only in time for his birthday in two weeks, but for our County Fair as well!! Of course, I didnít submit him with the recurve bow and his quiver of arrows; things like that get lost too easily. :noes: But, heíll be going out complete at the end of the week to make it in time.

ÖNow I just have to dig out some wrapping paper that doesnít have snowmen or penguins on them!! :dummy:

Here's my opus magnum, my most favourite character of all the times, Darth Vader. One month of work, sometimes up to 8 hours a day. Roughly 40cm tall, random fabrics, felt, faux leather, ballpen parts etc. No wire frame. Hand sewn. Based the look mostly on "The Return of The Jedi", the costume references found on 501st website and Sideshow's Darth Vader bust. Not to mention I made some serious research on Sebastian Shaw  (the man who played Anakin in the Original Trilogy)

You might say he's a product of a little bet with my mum (or a challenge rather). Back in the day when I was 10 or so I started to make Star Wars dolls. When I was, like, 18, I bought a Darth Vader plush. And my mum was all like "pfff, he looks lame, even you could do it better!" And I was like yeah, how about no---- wait- you are right! I can make it better!

And I did! (although, 3 years later^^;)

I can't even highlight enough how much I love Darth Vader. But, you know, Darth Vader from the good old times; when he was an all powerful weirdo in a robot suit choking people all around xDI wanted to create a doll of a character as I remembered as a kid. I don't care about canon, so my Vader might as well have eyebrows^^ (screw logic! asbestos eyebrows ftw!) For so many years Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker looked like that in my mind that I can't even try to change that image. So I made this doll the way it is. And I really like it this way!

Star Wars logo belongs to Disney. I think.

And here I'd like to dedicate this doll to the great talent that was Ralph McQuarrie, without whom my imagination wouldn't be as wild as it is and without whom we wouldn't have our Dark Lord^^ Also to John Mollo, who made McQuarrie's drawings real as costumes. To David Prowse, the man who bore the weight of Vader's armour. To James Earl Jones and his amazing voice acting. To Bob Anderson, an Olympic swordsman, without whom Vader's fighting skills wouldn't be the same on screen. And finally to Sebastian Shaw, for giving Vader heart of a man instead of a machine. They all made Vader the way he is remembered, so all a fan can say is 'thank you' for your hard work you put in creating one of the greatest characters in film history!

Update! (I'm George Lucasing stuff! Pray I don't alter anything further)
-fixed some scars, especially around the eyes.
-made new eyes. Why? Cause I'm Hannibal Chew. And I'm working on another Skywalker so I wanted to tie everything up. They are more blue/grey now.

In the Dark Horse comics adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the Emperor's Shadow Guard appear "uncloaked", showing chest armour similar to that worn by Stormtroopers beneath their flowing black robes. While Hasbro has previously visited the guard, their version was merely a dark repaint of a standard red Royal Guard rather than that seen in the comics and the game itself.

This figure utilises GI Joe 25th Anniversary Comic Pack Destro (for the entire body, sans head), my own cast of a vintage Emperor's Royal Guard and some modelling clay.
