This is a fan art for the renowned web comic "Inverloch" by Sarah Ellerton. I think her comic is about the most popular around these days - she had such a huge success that it's now even available in print.
Both the art and the story are really masterfully done!

For comic this fan art is based on, check it out here: [link]
Also, check out the deviantART gallery of the author and artist of the comic here: =artsangel

The character's name is Acheron and he is what is called a da'kor. An antropomorphic race between human, lion, wolf and goat. He is the main character of the comic.

I actually wanted to do fan art for this comic for a while now, but the actual incentive, so to speak, was a fan art contest Sarah held. I don't know if I will win it, and frankly I don't really care. This picture was far too much fun to do - so I don't really have any greater ambition. From a technical point of view I wanted to do some work on how to draw muscles. I found a really good anatomy book that compares animal and human muscle and bone structure, so I made use of that to help me get things as authentic as possible. I think this time around I managed to do so very well. Even though I still don't know if he can actually stand on those legs or not, or if it really will work that way. Well I tried my best anyway.

This is the first picture I'm really content with in a long time.

Detail Shots and a work in progress shot are here:

Edit: ~ChaosRuby told me to edit this comment in order to say that I have won the contest so people won't go on and wonder if I actually did win or not. At first I didn't really want to edit it because I didn't want to sound as if I was bragging. But then I guess it's better to let people know. So yeah, I did win. :)

Design based off from my old painting. This is how I always visualized how Matthias looked like during his journey to rescue his son.
