Last Honor for a recently passed away deviantHello there fello friends, watchers and deviants...Last Honor for a recently passed away deviant8 months ago in Tributes More Like This
One week ago was a sad day for the family of :iconkram666: and the deviant community.
He passed away at the age of only 48. Him who was so dedicated to digital art will never leave anyone of us a comment or reply to those given to him. He will never again fill our inboxes with his colorful fractals or cute photos of the foxes.
But even if his body has passed away - he will stay alive within us and within the art in his gallery.
I'm sure that he is somewhere where he can still appreciate our support of his art, so this is my hommage to a wonderful artist AND his family.
With heartfelt condolences,
Rike

In Memory of Mark (kram666)We are sure many of you in the fractal world, here at dA, know of the terrible loss of one of the most amazing fractal artists *kram666. Mark was not only a fantastic fractal artist, but also a great friend to many and always full of the nicest things to say. I know I was always dumbfounded why he would ever fave any of my fractals when they never even came close to the work he did, but he was always full of encouragement and never once let a thank you go by without saying, "You're welcome." I know James and I will also miss the wonderful photos of his dear foxes, as well as his gentle free spirit that made dA a nicer place for so many of us. He will truly be missed by us all.In Memory of Mark (kram666)8 months ago in Personal More Like This

A Community says GoodbyeI believe the number of journal entries about Mark's passing away are testaments to the fraternal love that we have for the members of our community. I found the reactions heartwarming. Mark was a very good friend here for me, as he was for many people here. He was always encouraging people and never had a bad word to say, We would comment back and forth every day. Uncanny how you can get close just by using the internet. It always amazes me. I will miss him greatly. Here's a send off my good friend from your friends here at Deviant Art.A Community says Goodbye8 months ago in Personal More Like This

Goodbye Mark I will miss youI guess a lot of people know by now that Mark, aka, :iconkram666: passed away last week. Here is a copy of the message that Mark's brother Simon left on his profile. There have been a couple of journal entries about it but I had to say my last words for Mark.Goodbye Mark I will miss you8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Hello all,
This is Simon, Mark's brother, with the terribly sad news that Mark passed away
last week.
This was a huge shock to us all.
I helped him set up his PC with all his drawing tools so knew how much he adored
producing his bespoke digital artwork and how much the Deviant art community
meant to him.
On his behalf I'd like to thank you all for the friendship and support you've
shown and would ask you to pause for a minute at 14:20 on Monday 1st October.
With Kind Regards.
Simon.
Over the years Mark has become a very good friend here at DA, always willing to support me and always with a few words of encouragement. He is a good person and I will miss

Neil ArmstrongApollo 11 was the spaceflight which landed the first humans, Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on the Moon on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC. Armstrong became the first to step onto the lunar surface 6 hours later on July 21 at 02:56 UTC. A third member of the mission, Michael Collins, remained alone in lunar orbit until they returned from the surface about 15 hours later. All three astronauts returned to Earth safely after travelling in space for 8 days. and today on August 25,2012 we lost him so in his honor here are a couple of videos.Neil Armstrong9 months ago in Personal More Like This
This one was done back in 2009 for the 40th anniversary of his walk on the moon.
This one is the actual walk on the moon.

Memorial DayToday, we honor America's real heros.Memorial Day1 year ago in Personal More Like This
For love of country, they accepted death.
True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.
They served, and died, so that we might live, FREE.
In their honor, we must always cherish and passionately guard the LIBERTY they died defending..
Just a little reminder of what Memorial day ia ll about.
Thank you for your sacrifice....
The Healing Power of MusicSince the beginning of recorded history, music has played a significant role in the healing of our world. Music and healing were communal activities that were natural to everyone. In ancient Greece, Apollo was both the god of music and medicine. Ancient Greeks said, "Music is an art imbued with power to penetrate into the very depths of the soul." These beliefs were shared through their Doctrine of Ethos. In the mystery schools of Egypt and Greece, healing and sound were considered a highly developed sacred science. Pythagoras, one of the wise teachers in ancient Greece, knew how to work with sound. He taught his students how certain musical chords and melodies produce definite responses within the human organism. He demonstrated that the right sequence of sounds, played musically on an instrument, could actually change behavior patterns and accelerate the healing process. The Healing Power of Music1 year ago in Personal More Like This

KONY:2012 - Save the Children. Stop At Nothing.I'm sure a lot of people may have been hearing about this recently, and if not, then I'm surprised. I realize this video is long, but please ignore the length. This is very urgent, and very, very important. And I assure you, that if you don't want children to be abducted, mutilated, forced into sexual slavery, and forced to kill others, including their own parents, then this video is worth every single second of it's time. Please watch and spread the word. Joseph Kony must no longer be invisible to the world if he is to be stopped. All we have to do to save these kids is make Kony famous.KONY:2012 - Save the Children. EDIT: There's been a lot of controversy about supporting this, but not the Inv. Children organization. I completely agree. While Inv. Children is not the best charity by far, though, this is still a good thing to make people aware of. And at the very least, being aware of things going on in the world is a step. You don't have to donate to Inv. Children - In fact, I encourage you not
Global Warming +11Please see updates at the end of the journal.Global Warming +111 year ago in Personal More Like This
I just finished reading the book COLLAPSE, How Societies Choose to Fail or Succed by Jared Diamond.
The book presents a detailed and sometimes tedious list of reasons for which some past societies have disappeared. A major reason, or in some cases the only reason, for that collapse is the mismanagement of ecological problems. Either the problem was neglected, or was discovered but not solved appropriately or solved with the wrong response.
We are generally well informed about global warming and probably tend to simplify the problem by taking just this issue. Al Gore's "The Inconvenient Truth" has contributed to clarify and spread this danger. However, the book in question identifies 12 major ecological problems, one of which is global warming.
As a very brief and biased summary of the book, I include below the list of the 12 problems.
1. Destruction of natural habitats.
2. Overuse of wild foods, especially fish.
3. Extermination of wild
Don't waste itSince the dawn of life on earth, an estimated 240 million generations have roamed the earth. That's potentially trillions of ancestors, counting each generation, all culminating in youDon't waste it1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Despite virtually impossible odds, every single one of these ancestors beat hundreds of millions of sperm cells to your mothers egg. And every single one of them then faught their way through a dangerous world, struggling to survive. And not only did they long enough to reach sexual maturity, but they found a mate and they passed on their traits. I'll just repeat that - of your trillions of ancestors, every single one managed to survive life long enough to find a mate and produce offspring, eventually leading to YOU.
Of all the bad things that could have happened - Fatal accidents, loss of fertility, etc - not A SINGLE of these happened to any of your trillions of ancestors. Your ancestors survived supervulcanos, ferious predators, meteor strikes and war. They were all either strong enough, smart enough,

Probably most of you already knows we lost one of our fellow artist last week, *kram666. As I'm not that good with words, I decided to use the Fractaling feature to gather all the nice thoughts people had for him.
I didn't know him very well, but I feel I should join the community with my condolences.![]()

Premium ContentI just wanted to tell you that while there WILL be Premium Content Resources by me, this does NOT mean I will be stopping to give the greatest part out for free just like I've been doing for years.Premium Content11 months ago in Personal More Like This
To those who complain that the new Premium Content Platform will take away their free stock and they simply can't afford to buy PC I can only say: shut up and wait until you've seen what really happens before you start whining. No one I've talked to has said they're switching to all exclusive stock. And if some stockers do, it's not the end of the world. Maybe you just need to put in a weeee bit more time into searching for what you can use, but someone out there will always have what you need. You just have to put in the effort to find it (just like some people need to put in the effort to read terms of use before using images in ways they weren't meant to be used - but that's a different story).
What you probably WILL be seeing from me is more stock than before because I have tons of image
#86: The Premium Content PlatformHello there! I should post the first interview for Mandelbulb users, but I have to work on it a little bit before publishing it.#86: The Premium Content Platform11 months ago in Personal More Like This
I would like to share with you my opinion about this brand new option available for Premium Users: The Premium Content Platform.
I invite you to read this journal:
But let's keep it simple: for example, from now on (until I'll be Premium I guess) I could put my params available for download (instead of pasting them into the description), but you would be able to make the download by giving a chosen amount of points. Basically, you would be able to tweak my params by purchasing them.
Am I going to do this? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I totally do not agree with this thing.
I really never explained why I share my params with everybody. The fact is that I could learn a lot of things by tweaking params and following tutorials, provided by wonderful people here on deviantArt. Thanks to them, I could improve my technique and reach qui
Man becomes mathmatical genius after assualtThought this was interesting, after a brutal attack Jason Padgett a college dropout became a mathmatical genius. Everywhere he looks, he sees complex mathematical formulas -- like the Pythagorean theorem, for example. "Every single little curve, every single spiral, every tree is part of that equation," he told ABC News. Padgett turns these formulas into intricate diagrams called fractals. He says that fractals are "shape(s) that when you take the shape a part into pieces, the pieces are the same or similar to the whole."Man becomes mathmatical genius after assualt1 year ago in Personal More Like This
For instance, he can produce a visual representation of Pi, the infinite mathematical constant which begins with 3.14.
