Signal Hill (overlooking the Atlantic ocean), Cape Town, South Africa.

This photo was taken as an after thought. I've never tried to take a silhouetted image before and I'm rather impressed with myself. I didn't edit the colors since they looked somewhat vintage. I want to try this again when I have more time.

Camera: Canon EOS 400D
Lens: Sigma (wide-angle)
Shutter speed: 1/2000sec
Aperture: f/5.0 (used wide aperture to get greater depth of field - I find it hard to get that with the wide-angle lens)
ISO: 100

Traditional Art - Drawing

Drawn with watercolor pencils (burnished not painted)
On cartridge paper
...many hours...

The scan is not even half as good as the original - all the fine shading is blown out. I think dA should have a traditional art contest in which the prize is a fabulous A3 scanner. :fingerscrossed:

I'm a little tired and still sick so I'm going to update my notes another time, but I do want to say that I'm really happy the contest is judged separately for digital and traditional.

My entry for the Dark Shadows Barnabus Collins portrait contest!

I pretty much love everything about this contest, so I couldn't *not* enter! :D

So many of my ideas were all ready drawn so I ended up with this. Hope nobody has done this yet. :( I quite like it - the colors are my favorite part! :D I tried to make the skribble design be a bit obvious, but if it is needed, I'll upload a second deviation to show them much better.

I used to draw reptiles so often, but I realized that I haven't in a while. What fun it was and great practice with my tablet!

And, of course, happy birthday dA! :boogie: I love it here and it has been so much fun, can't wait for more to come :la:

If I win, that would so help pay for college. I've always wondered what people use the money for when they win these large contests.
