"Why didn't you tell me?"
He wouldn't meet my gaze or respond.
"I'm sorry!" he blurted. "I assumed you knew!"
I snorted. "Bollocks, nobody tells me anything. Why ever would you think that my mother would tell her own daughter squat?"
We were in the attic and I had cornered him against the far wallI was fed up with not knowing and being treated like a child, and Benjamin was practically cowering from the vehemence of my ire.
"I already told you I was sorry!" he cried out. "What else do you want me to say, Sara?"
"So you're trying to tell me that during all the hours we've spent together, you never once thought to mention that Aunt Jo was trying to smuggle you out of the goddamn country? I thought we were supposed to tell each other thingscommunicate our feelings; that's what friends do! But instead you go slinking about, keeping secrets from me, just like everyone else!" I cried out.

Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant! On Saturday, June 14, 2009, deviantART held a deviantMEET at the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park. Over 350 deviants showed up to celebrate all things deviantART, setting a record for the highest attended deviantMEET in history in the process... until now.Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant!3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Almost exactly three years later -- on Saturday, June 30, 2012 -- at the same location in Hyde Park, London deviants once again turned up in droves. Smashing the previous record, our London deviantMEET 2012 saw over 550 deviants throughout the day.
Most deviantMEETs include a group photo, usually taken towards the end of the event's festivities. However, we wasted no time taking our group shot in front of the Albert Memorial, as we wanted to ensure we were complying with Hyde Park's rules and regulations for large gatherings. With a group this massive -- and awesome -- it's hard not to draw attention!
''The Autumnal Equinox'' by Aty S. BehsamJournal Skin By ginkgografix''The Autumnal Equinox'' by Aty S. Behsam3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I love drawing and painting my characters so my friend always picks a full cast for each of my stories based on the looks and attitudes described for each character, and I draw/paint them.
Most of my works feature the cast picked for the characters of a Young Adult novel, "The Autumnal Equinox".
"The Autumnal Equinox" is a Fantasy/Romance dual narrative story about seventeen-year-old Michael and his girlfriend Anahita, who live under dictatorship and in a pretty controlled society. Soon Anahita reveals her true identity to Michael, and lets him know that he belongs to another society, much more powerful than humans.
As Michael discovers his powers and realizes the truth about his real family, he begins to question his presumptions about good and evil, and even his sense of moral

Photography Troubleshooting: FiltersThis week we bring you another issue of Photography Troubleshooting to hopefully give you some tips and explanations behind how to make use of some photography accessories. If you have a question, query or any thoughts you wish to see discussed just drop us a comment or note!Photography Troubleshooting: Filters3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
"The use of filters, how to pick them and examples of situations where they would be helpful...."
Hi moria330, filters are a good way of diversifying your photographic opportunities without spending a great deal of money (though, granted, many of the better quality filters can get to be relatively expensive).
In film photography, filters were used a lot more extensively then they are today thanks to the nature of the medium.
For example colour filters were used for white balance purposes on colour films that were balanced for different light types, so, you could shoot artificial light balanced film under daylight if you had a filter that corrected for it.

Popular Fan ArtThis has been bothering me for some time now, and I've seen this sort of behavior even before I joined dA, but some folks honestly need to stop acting like artists who happen to draw fan art or fan comics for "popular" series automatically makes them "cheap" or that they're somehow shallow people because of it. People can actually, you know, like a series that's popular and end up wanting to draw fan works because they want to. Popular or well-known works or series are going to have lots of fans, so it's not exactly unnatural that more people might be inclined to draw fan art for certain series. It's one thing if you're not a fan of something popular, because it's completely normal for people to have preferences, but when you're just being dismissive of someone else entirely or looking down on them just because the subject matter they choose to draw is "popular" then it makes you look petty and/or jealous. Because, let's be honest, there are people who get really pissed and uptiPopular Fan Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Tutorial Showcase #8DeviantART is a great place to find not only art but also some awesome tutorials. It doesn't matter if you are interested in photo manipulation or writing, usually there is a tutorial for that. But at the same time there are so many great tutorials outside of deviantART and most deviantART users might never find them unless someone shows these tutorials to them. So I'm happy to introduce you a new journal series called "Tutorial Showcase" which features some awesome tutorials outside of deviantART. System is pretty simple. Every showcase journal showcases five tutorials from a specific category and this category changes with every new journal. There's no special placement, all of them are equal. So here we go!Tutorial Showcase #82 years ago in Art Features More Like This

to all the people who have ever considered suicideThere is always a reason to keep fighting. I do not care how pitiful your life is, how seemingly insignificant, how painfulyou do matter. You matter to someone: perhaps it's your mother, your father, your friend. Perhaps it's someone you haven't even met yet, but that's part of the adventure, isn't it? There is always something more to come. Every human life is so incredibly and insurmountably precious. And I will not sit here and tell you that there are people who have it worse than you, because that's silly and useless. In your world, you feel alone and desperate and you feel as if nothing, nothing could ever make you feel happy or even functional again, and that is your world. You feel as if your life, your universe, everything you ever thought about yourself and the people around you is crumbling and crashing down. But I can guarantee that it will get better. I promise you. I promise.to all the people who have ever considered suicide3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Ashcan Copy Comics? At conventions, Ashcan comics is, essentially, a "cheap print" comic. Traditionally, these are smaller, black and white copies of the comics you produce, to allow readers a free (or VERY cheap) comic to read, with the idea that they will become engaged in the story enough to purchase the colored version or future comics. These were often 8 1/2 inch by 11 inch pages, just printed on standard printing paper, and often done in short runs. Sometimes they had several pages per page, other times they were simply low quality.Ashcan Copy Comics?8 months ago in Personal More Like This
It's changed, to some extent, as many people now produce very high quality Ashcans, but with only 5 pages or so, which has been criticized. While it is true that higher quality, shorter comics can be great to show off the quality of your work, your art, and coloring, it does not usually allow readers to get engaged in the story.
What is your opinion on Ashcan comics?
Are they useful? We live in an age now where people not only expect instant gratification, they expect it

An Aereoscopic Adventure! An Aereoscopic Adventure!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
i have always been a huge fan of art books. in fact i would say that 99 percent of my bookshelves are filled with art books ranging from animation to fashion design and everything visual in between. it was partly why i am so excited to have produced my own book, Walking Your Octopus. one of my goals with this project was to create an art book that was also an art object and this vision guided every aspect of the book's production. as we all know ebooks are becoming more and more popular and i struggled with how my book which was a celebration of all things analog might fit into the digital space. fortunately my very creative friend eric, had the solution...Aereoscope.

Missiles, military service and HamasWarning: This is a serious journal about a serious issue.Missiles, military service and Hamas3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last week I've been recruited to the military once again as part of an emergency operation regarding Gaza. I was just about to return to my apartment after a tiring school day, when I got this emergency phone call from my commander, telling me I have to pack my stuff and go to the south as far as I can. I had to put on my old uniform, go to the far south, to a city called Be'er Sheva, and "report from the fire field" where the Hamas sent their missiles to. Some of you may have noticed that the relations between Israel and Gaza are not so great...I saw their missiles blowing up right above me during my service, I heard the alarm and explosions all around me. It was a very interesting experience, I tell you that...
I really don't want to get into politics, but I want everyone to know that people in the southern cities of Israel got hurt, buildings have been damaged, schools had to be closed so children would not be a

There are a few issues with the Journal implementation, but there aren't any issues we can't easily fix. And we got so much great feedback, that we now clearly understand some things we didn't before. The best part is, we're going to get the best of both worlds for Journals. All of the benefits of the deviation system for Journals, with all of the resolutions that were vocalized as concerns.
Monday of next week, we're going to release the following changes so that everyone can SMILE!
When you go to publish a Journal, you'll be able to Submit your Journal to your Profile just as you did before the changes. The Journal will go out to your +Watch list, display on your Journal tab and on your Profile Page (if applicable.) There wouldn't be a +Favorite button unless you Submit to The deviantART Journal.
That's right! You'll also be able to publish to
