"Why didn't you tell me?"
He wouldn't meet my gaze or respond.
"I'm sorry!" he blurted. "I assumed you knew!"
I snorted. "Bollocks, nobody tells me anything. Why ever would you think that my mother would tell her own daughter squat?"
We were in the attic and I had cornered him against the far wallI was fed up with not knowing and being treated like a child, and Benjamin was practically cowering from the vehemence of my ire.
"I already told you I was sorry!" he cried out. "What else do you want me to say, Sara?"
"So you're trying to tell me that during all the hours we've spent together, you never once thought to mention that Aunt Jo was trying to smuggle you out of the goddamn country? I thought we were supposed to tell each other thingscommunicate our feelings; that's what friends do! But instead you go slinking about, keeping secrets from me, just like everyone else!" I cried out.

I love drawing and painting my characters so my friend always picks a full cast for each of my stories based on the looks and attitudes described for each character, and I draw/paint them.
Most of my works feature the cast picked for the characters of a Young Adult novel, "The Autumnal Equinox".
"The Autumnal Equinox" is a Fantasy/Romance dual narrative story about seventeen-year-old Michael and his girlfriend Anahita, who live under dictatorship and in a pretty controlled society. Soon Anahita reveals her true identity to Michael, and lets him know that he belongs to another society, much more powerful than humans.
As Michael discovers his powers and realizes the truth about his real family, he begins to question his presumptions about good and evil, and even his sense of moral

This is another long one, and I apologize but I need to speak my mind. This journal is in response to the "righteously indignant" users making a fuss about me "selling" fanart of copyrighted characters in my recent Adventure Time post. To the person who signed up today just to write a nasty comment on my new Society6 page. To the person who flagged my recent Adventure Time illustration on DA and then proceeded to send me an e-mail about doing it (probably the same person). To the people creating multiple accounts to try and dissuade users from spending their money how they see fit. And to a long list of people who follow everything I do post just to make sure that their negative voice and attitude are the first voices anyone ever sees on all of my work.
It's All A Scam
I'm in an unenviable position. Popular enough to be well known, not popular enough to be making oodles of cash off my stuff. Part of that is my own fault for not really promoting and selling myself,

In contacting our selected artists, we were pleased to hear they were excited to showcase their works and tha

Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant! On Saturday, June 14, 2009, deviantART held a deviantMEET at the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park. Over 350 deviants showed up to celebrate all things deviantART, setting a record for the highest attended deviantMEET in history in the process... until now.Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant!2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
Almost exactly three years later -- on Saturday, June 30, 2012 -- at the same location in Hyde Park, London deviants once again turned up in droves. Smashing the previous record, our London deviantMEET 2012 saw over 550 deviants throughout the day.
Most deviantMEETs include a group photo, usually taken towards the end of the event's festivities. However, we wasted no time taking our group shot in front of the Albert Memorial, as we wanted to ensure we were complying with Hyde Park's rules and regulations for large gatherings. With a group this massive -- and awesome -- it's hard not to draw attention!

This special, which will air every weeknight at 9pm (until July 20th), will include reruns of all 12 episodes from the first season of The Legend of Korra in a "creators' cut" format, with commentary from Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, offering "insight into the creation of the stunning imagery, mythology and storyline" of the series. And we will be uploading videos from YouTube day by day for people who do not have Nicktoons.
With San Diego Comic Con just a few days away, there is going to be a bunch of New Avatar and Korra things going on at that time. For one, The legend of Korra

Popular Fan ArtThis has been bothering me for some time now, and I've seen this sort of behavior even before I joined dA, but some folks honestly need to stop acting like artists who happen to draw fan art or fan comics for "popular" series automatically makes them "cheap" or that they're somehow shallow people because of it. People can actually, you know, like a series that's popular and end up wanting to draw fan works because they want to. Popular or well-known works or series are going to have lots of fans, so it's not exactly unnatural that more people might be inclined to draw fan art for certain series. It's one thing if you're not a fan of something popular, because it's completely normal for people to have preferences, but when you're just being dismissive of someone else entirely or looking down on them just because the subject matter they choose to draw is "popular" then it makes you look petty and/or jealous. Because, let's be honest, there are people who get really pissed and uptiPopular Fan Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Me & Vonnegut: Influence & StyleIf anyone has had a conversation with my for more than five minutes, it is quite possible that you've heard me say either "my novel" or "Kurt Vonnegut." I really can't help it. Even though I have often cited Vonnegut as one of my inspirations in writing, it is difficult to really pinpoint anything in my writing that is similar to his. It is simply that I adore him, even though I doubt that I will ever be able to create anything that is similar, or even close to similar, to his candid satire and bleak absurdist humor. That being said, a dear friend of mine recently sent me a link to an article that he had written, "How To Write With Style." Reading it, I realized that he had indeed influenced me in ways that I hadn't realized. Partly, it is the way that he is upfront in all things, even his article. I thought I'd take the opportunity to reproduce it partially here:Me & Vonnegut: Influence & Style3 years ago in Art Features More Like This

to all the people who have ever considered suicideThere is always a reason to keep fighting. I do not care how pitiful your life is, how seemingly insignificant, how painfulyou do matter. You matter to someone: perhaps it's your mother, your father, your friend. Perhaps it's someone you haven't even met yet, but that's part of the adventure, isn't it? There is always something more to come. Every human life is so incredibly and insurmountably precious. And I will not sit here and tell you that there are people who have it worse than you, because that's silly and useless. In your world, you feel alone and desperate and you feel as if nothing, nothing could ever make you feel happy or even functional again, and that is your world. You feel as if your life, your universe, everything you ever thought about yourself and the people around you is crumbling and crashing down. But I can guarantee that it will get better. I promise you. I promise.to all the people who have ever considered suicide3 years ago in Personal More Like This

i have always been a huge fan of art books. in fact i would say that 99 percent of my bookshelves are filled with art books ranging from animation to fashion design and everything visual in between. it was partly why i am so excited to have produced my own book, Walking Your Octopus. one of my goals with this project was to create an art book that was also an art object and this vision guided every aspect of the book's production. as we all know ebooks are becoming more and more popular and i struggled with how my book which was a celebration of all things analog might fit into the digital space. fortunately my very creative friend eric, had the solution...Aereoscope.

Missiles, military service and HamasWarning: This is a serious journal about a serious issue.Missiles, military service and Hamas2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Last week I've been recruited to the military once again as part of an emergency operation regarding Gaza. I was just about to return to my apartment after a tiring school day, when I got this emergency phone call from my commander, telling me I have to pack my stuff and go to the south as far as I can. I had to put on my old uniform, go to the far south, to a city called Be'er Sheva, and "report from the fire field" where the Hamas sent their missiles to. Some of you may have noticed that the relations between Israel and Gaza are not so great...I saw their missiles blowing up right above me during my service, I heard the alarm and explosions all around me. It was a very interesting experience, I tell you that...
I really don't want to get into politics, but I want everyone to know that people in the southern cities of Israel got hurt, buildings have been damaged, schools had to be closed so children would not be a

That strange place, so distant, yet so close to my heart. Buildings as tall as mountains.
Dead structures, watching with dead eyes. Empty, vast and endless honeycombs of stone and steel. Air filled with gray ashes, always fluttering from the cloudy sky.
The black vortex opens up in the sky, descending down to the city. The vortex spiral rips the city apart, bending the air itself, feasting on light, feasting on time.
There is a lonely figure standing in the street.
No matter how hard I try to make out his or her expression, I cannot. Is there no face there at all? Or perhaps there is a million human faces there, intertwined and flickering in unison, as bright as the light of ten thousand suns?
The being stares into the abyss of the vortex.
It takes another step towards it, into the horizon of nothingness, into a place where nothing can exist.
The stones of the roadway beneath its feet crumble and flutter in t
I Street Therefore I Am - 01"Defining Street Photography" what the heck does it even mean?!I Street Therefore I Am - 011 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Street Photography is about documenting 'reality' as it happens around us: On the street, in a pub, at the beach, malls...
Funny that this particular style of photography was popularized - or dare I say, 'conceived' by people who themselves
had a rather 'surrealist' outlook towards life - which kind of explains the irrational juxtapositions between the subject
and the environment often evidenced in modern Street Photography.
