I'm changing my name. That's right. I'm changing my DA name.I'm changing my name.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've thought long and hard and have decided to change it toooooo.......
That's right; i'm one of the few artists here on DA that seems content with my name. That; and I think changing a "brand" simply because you can, after you've spent time and energy building up an audience is f**king stupid.
I've been here for years. I've operated on the internet under "jollyjack" for longer. If I changed that now it would be monumentally confusing to people that follow my work, which, in turn, would have an effect on revenue.
There are a ton of artists here whose work I keenly follow, and I think they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.
Kinda reminds be of those little label-making things everyone's been given on at least one Christmas as a kid: you unwrap it, you find out what it does and you spend the rest of the day punching out new tags for everything. Even if they'
Disney closes LucasArtsF**k you, Disney. F**k you.Disney closes LucasArts2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you are not angered by this news, you're obviously a very young gamer and probably (rightly) see LucasArts as nothing more than a mediocre-Star-Wars-title-discharging-sewer-pipe.
Disney bought LucasFilm because of the Star Wars cash-cow, but the number of classic IPs produced by LucasArts throughout the 90s makes the descision to close it rather than attempt to return to the studio to its glory days pretty staggering.
I actually see way more potential in LucasArts IPs than Star Wars.....but then, so would anyone with even the most stunted of creative minds.
Disney obviously still own all the properties, but the LucasArts brand is gone, and it's the end of an era, even if they start picking at the corpse for ideas to ruin.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Secret of Monkey Island, anyone?
Sherlock vs ElementaryThe concept of taking the world's greatest detective out of his Victorian era setting and dropping him into 21st Century London shouldn't have worked. It should have failed as miserably as I thought it would.Sherlock vs Elementary3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hooooo. Was I proven wrong on that one.
The scant six episodes of Sherlock contain some of the best material the BBC has ever produced and proved that the detective can work his deductive wizardry in any time period.
Which is probably why CBS have gone all Chinese and are ripping it off.
When I heard that there was going to be an "American version" of the show; the eye twitched but didn't bat. This happens, and often HAS to happen. A show must fit with the scheduling, and US series are a lot longer than those on British TV, so things have to be stretched.
THEN I learned that it's NOT a remake of BBC's Sherlock, but a brand new series called "Elementary", which is "radically" different because it's set in New York.
Unsurprisingly, the Beeb are a bit miffed by this.
In this, wholly

The AvengersYou know that giddy, gleeful feeling that renders you incapable of doing little more than giggle like a lunatic? The Avengers3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I pretty much had that from start to finish during the Avengers film (Which was released on Fair Blighty's shores as "Avengers Assemble" thanks to the past efforts of Steed and Peel).
There have only been a handful of movies that invoked that kind of response in me: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Abram's Star Trek, Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes and the first Iron Man film are those which immediately spring to mind.
Indeed; Avengers is THE best Marvel movie since Iron Man. Ace cast, brilliant story, hysterical script, a scene that will stab anyone that's followed the films leading up to this point right through the heart and a fair few more surprises.
Chief among them being; how the hell did the Hulk become such a f**king awesome character after so many naff films?
I'm gonna go see this one again!

Well....if by "world" he means "Pakistan".....
....and I think that's probably down to Obama giving the greenlight to the operation that saw US Special Forces conduct a cross-border raid into Pakistan which resulted in a very dead Bin Laden. They're still kinda cranky about that.
Posted for no reason other than that it's really, really funny.

been a wacky, ultra-busy couple of weeks but who cares about that, what is important is:
1. New pages of DK start up tomorrow morning
2. Look what just showed up and I had to share with you immediately, couldn't even wait to find a proper backdrop/decent lighting
SO HAVE YOU DEMANDED IT
SO SHALL IT BE
Better photos/order info coming VERY soon
(note: that was as high as the graphic could be printed, but it actually works out pretty perfectly since a full shot takes you just beyond the top of the meter. you'll see when I get some photos with some WHISKEY in there)
(note 2: print quality is REALLY nice, my camera is balls and totally does not capture it)

I don’t know a huge amount about the “New 52” take on the DC universe (I stopped paying attention to DC’s output when they changed their logo to look like a half-unwrapped Acme magnet) but if the Justice League: War animation is any kind of summary, I’m glad I’ve not wasted my time.
Batman now seems to think it’s impolite if he doesn’t tell everyone who he is, Wonder Woman has taken to talking like a really, really bad Shakespearean actor and Superman is a dick.
Ignoring the animation’s terrible narrative, what struck me like a rancid kipper in the face was how god-awful the character designs were. In this instance; particularly Darkseid’s. Yeah, he wore a bucket on his head in the past, but it worked! It added to his menace as a laser-firing brick of doom. You took one look at him and you knew who he was.
Watch Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. THAT version of Darkseid is an ic

Commedian Marcus Brigstocke described the British attitude toward the Olympics quite well a few years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?vJEH9P0hgCw&featurelayer_detailpage#t=373s
Truth be told: I've never been that fussed when it comes to the Olympics, regardless of where in the world it's held. It's just this time I'll be thinking "NO! Who greenlit that? They did WHAT during the opening ceremony? Where's that Boyle bastard? I'm gonna kill him".

'Legend of Korra' Series Review:...............................woah.'Legend of Korra' Series Review:3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well; that was rather good, wasn't it?
Splendid art, voice acting and a compelling narrative on par with any live-action, prime-time series.
The resolution at the end, though, felt a little rushed. While I'm glad there was one, it had an air of finality about it, as though it's uncertain a second season will ever transpire.
If there isn't one; it'll be a crime, given all the work that went into crafting Korra's world.
About the Username Change and the Imeji CheinjiI never believed that name change would exist due to many valid reasons, but yet, they made it. Honestly, I've been wanting to change my name since long time. I'm in no ties or any desire with "Pearl" in any way which I named it when I was quite young. Also that name makes me sick sometimes- so a new name change is going to be a great, refreshing start.About the Username Change and the Imeji Cheinji3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, yes I do plan to change name yet my icon will remain not changed to keep people to recognize me. And here I want to write a journal about being really careful, be smart and think twice if we decide to change name: to not cause that kind of trend where "Oh I got bored with that name, lemme change onto another" and making a'la Japan's trend of changes known as imeji cheinji.
Firstly, try to imagine, if there is artist (or active watcher, popular artist, active friend or even troller which you dislike etc.) which you admire is known under Crystallox2* (and you probably will notice how many people also call that person as "Crys"
SteamToday I finally got a Steam Account. I know, I know, I'm late to all these things. Part of that is because my old computer wasn't good enough to run a lot of games, and the other part is since I got my Mac I've been rather busy with my comics that I haven't really had time to sit down and play.Steam3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But for whatever it's worth, I did get a Steam Account and have been trying it out. I rather like it, actually, though I am disappointed in the number of Mac compatible games available. At least a bunch of really good games like Portal, Braid, Limbo, and Bit.Trip are here. Steam is what I think all video game consoles will someday morph into... and it's most definitely a step in the right direction. It's got it's kinks that still need ironing out, but it excels in the most important areas such as friendly user interfaces and ease of purchase.
I'm absolutely loving portal. I knew all the references from before (I might not play a lot of games but I do lurk the internetz) and I knew of the basic g

DOUBLE K's easily been the most fun comic I've ever worked on, both in terms of my being proud of the content and in terms of bein' able to make a seriously awesome bunch of folks happy. BUT, I've never been able to give it the time and attention I really wanted to, given the demands of my day job and its erratic, hectic schedule.
You know what, though? SCREW THAT.
I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you folks want what I want, which is to see DOUBLE K barrel non-stop toward its staggeringly explosive conclusion (and believe you me, it is already written and it is an outrageous, not-to-be-missed ending). And I've tried to get that momentum going before, but work always had to come first eventually. Not so anymore. &

As a resident of these isles, I can tell you that the general atmosphere surrounding the vote is a bit…..”meh”.
This is kind of alarming. It’s a big f**king deal for both sides of the border and people should be paying a little more attention, especially up in Scotland, since it’s they who will determine what transpires.
My opinion on the matter is that unity brings strength, but people have a right to decide their own future and if the Scots feel they’re better off going solo then they should vote “Yes”.
However, I feel that those behind the calls for independence (the same people who will hold power with a “yes” vote) are playing on an opportunity presented to them by the economic downturn between 2008 and now. It’s made their sales pitch much more enticing to those whose finances were shaken over the last 6 years by evil forces in London (naturally, they don

There is 'lowbrow' and there is 'Baybrow'Michael Bay, effluent peddler extraordinaire, is tackling the view that his "movies" are naught but a cascade of juvenile, crusty-sock-level fantasies, tied together with terrible plots that do nothing but sh*t on the source material….by putting a bra-less Megan Fox on a trampoline. There is 'lowbrow' and there is 'Baybrow'2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I am not going to watch this TMNT film. I am not curious in the slightest. If you have seen one Bay car-crash, you've seen them all: just picture a cookie-cutter pin-up girl, reciting dick-jokes while everything around her explodes and, off camera, an elderly man jerks off into the pile of money you gave him.

Diluting QualityBioshock Infinite was one of the few games I’ve completed and been quite happy to immediately start again from the beginning. So good was the story and immersive the universe it crafted that it was a joy to replay again and again.Diluting Quality1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It had that quality so rarely found in interactive entertainment: a satisfying end.
With most games striving to be epics, we’re usually left with the developers leaving the door wide open for a sequel that may never materialise, and no ending at all, or just a crap boss battle followed by the credits to act as a marker for when and where the budget ran out.
Bioshock Infinite had genuine closure and had given you all the information you needed over the course of the game to answer any lingering questions yourself.
It was a perfect, stand-alone product.
And then Burial At Sea comes along.
I was delighted at the thought of returning to Rapture and spending more time with Booker and Elizabeth, but now, having play

I was on the train on my way to faraway mountains.
My phone was ringing.
An unexpected call.
All what I remember after picking up is hearing these words: "he passed away".
When you hear that someone close/important to you/you know/ect,, the time feels like has stopped. It becomes a feeling of eternity. That feeling is also similar to the feeling of love but it's on opposite side of mirror.
Someone very important for me has left our world today at the morning.
That feeling…. when you get a call that someone close to you got very ill or had car crash or was busted, you usually feel sad, so worried and have feeling of hope. Or you feel anger. That kind of anger like you want to blame society. Then you ask a lot of questions if everything will be alright with her or him. You feel many emotions from sadness, feeling sorry, being worried and anger. And so on
