One dead console. My XBox 360 died last night.......again.One dead console.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was merrily replaying Modern Warfare 3 and was on the final mission when the screen went funky. Now, this happened 3 or 4 years ago, so I knew what was going to happen; I turned the console off in the hope that a reset would solve the funky-screen issue, but rather than a clear image - I get no image at all.
It's a known problem, especially with the first generation of 360 machines and as mine is a "Launch Team" version (If you worked for M$ at the time, they gave you a special edition one with green plating) it certainly falls into that category.
Something to do with the cheap, shoddy soldering used by M$.
Looks like I'll be better off just replacing it with one of the new streamline models, which is a shame, because last time I got my current one repaired I also had it pimped out with these awesome green internal running lights that made it look nuclear-powered or something
(What? It was a fun little extra!)

EDIT: Thanks for the info on reindeer gender-antler technicalities. I did learn this in my teens, but I just kind of enjoy drawing the deer as white-tails like I did as a kid. I know it's incorrect, but the nostalgia factor is more fun for me. Merry Christmas fellow biology nerds!
When I was would little, my obsessive love for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer would inspire me to draw Santa's eight reindeer to string together for Christmas decorations around the house. Even as a kid, I wanted some of the reindeer to be girls (it only seemed fair) and Dancer, Vixen and Cupid where always featured without antlers to show Santa didn't discriminate against the does!
So here's sweet-natured Cupid to wish you Happy Holidays! Have a wonderful day, everyone!
I AM RETURN'DI have been hush-hush for a while now, but that doesn't mean I haven't been brewin' stuff up. SO LET'S JUST CUT TO THE CHASE - HAVE A NEW PAGE of DOUBLE K, and then, come Tuesday of next week, there will be another - along with a giant GIGATON NUKE of an announcement.I AM RETURN'D2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Thanks for being so cool about the protracted absence, everybody. Big things take time, and life often gets in the way simultaneously, so it's been really awesome reading the comments from everybody being all like "take your time, duder." (HappyAggro, shout out to you in particular, that was mucho appreciated and very kindly/hilariously worded.) Said it before and I'll say it again, you're the best bunch of readers a dude like me could possibly ask for
ANYWAY YEAH enjoy that new page, and I'll see you again on Tuesday. STAY BEAUTIFUL, FRIENDOS
I'm changing my name. That's right. I'm changing my DA name.I'm changing my name.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've thought long and hard and have decided to change it toooooo.......
That's right; i'm one of the few artists here on DA that seems content with my name. That; and I think changing a "brand" simply because you can, after you've spent time and energy building up an audience is f**king stupid.
I've been here for years. I've operated on the internet under "jollyjack" for longer. If I changed that now it would be monumentally confusing to people that follow my work, which, in turn, would have an effect on revenue.
There are a ton of artists here whose work I keenly follow, and I think they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.
Kinda reminds be of those little label-making things everyone's been given on at least one Christmas as a kid: you unwrap it, you find out what it does and you spend the rest of the day punching out new tags for everything. Even if they'
No Death Star for you.I didn't know this until now, but the White House is obliged to respond to to a petition with over 25,000 signatures. I'm not quite sure what percentage of those 30,000+ citizens realise that using a planet-destroying laser to take out people on the planet on which you live is an ever-so-slightly flawed agenda.....

Choose your RivalHi there Ryceballs it is I Ry-Spirit of the East. Here to talk about something that I have never mentioned much before.. And that is the topic of 'Rivals'.Choose your Rival2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ash had Gary Oak, Goku had Vegeta, Naruto had Sasuke. Do you believe that having a rival can help you improve in whatever you do? I do. I remember back in High School I got lots of praises from my classmates for being the greatest at drawing, I liked to draw in my diaries and homeworks alot Which explains why my marks were soooo FREAKIN TERRIBLE!. And there was a friend (I used the term very loosely) who would always try to find ways to make people feel like crap, this time it was no exception, he figured out what I liked and stabbed that piece of pure innocent heart with a sharp poisonous knife, he told me my drawings is poo compared to this other guy our year, I have never seen that guy's artworks before so my friend went as far as to sneak into the library storage room where everyone left their bags at, opened up the guy's bag an
Tomb RaidedCompleted Tomb Raider. It does become slightly more player-friendly as it progresses, but it's too little too late. I really do think this title is made up of EVERYTHING that is wrong with games at the moment: it rides on an old title that it really has nothing to do with, it leads you round by the nose, it relies on dull collectable items for longevity, it thinks "maturity" means everything must be caked in gore, it's wracked through with quick-time-events and it ignores that ALL of these points have been failings of a zillion other titles over the last 10 years, leaving the developers no reason other that sheer lack of talent, imagination or common sense for their inclusion!!Tomb Raided2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Legend of Korra: Costume Design! One of the neat things about being the lead designer of a show like Young Justice is getting to interact with the fans through sites like this one, seeing the awesome fan art you guys do is a big inspiration for myself and a lot of the other artists and writers on the show. It really keeps us motivated knowing that you guys and girls appreciate the characters and stories we are creating. Along with great art my other favorite aspect of fandom, and easily the most hardcore representation of it, is the cosplayers and their dedication to show accurate costumes. So with SDCC right around the corner I thought I would share a little something interesting with all you Legend of Korra fans out there, as well as cosplayers in general. Last year at around this time my good buddy, Joaquim http://2-cents.deviantart.com/, who is a co-executive producer on Korra, asked my wife, she is a clothing designer by trade, to create a show accurate Korra outfit to be worn by the official model representing tLegend of Korra: Costume Design!3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Nintendo announces Pokemon RainbowNintendo just announced the third Pokemon Black and White game, its gonna be called... POKEMON RAINBOW! YEAH BOI!! I thought they ran out of colors for the Pokemon games but the smart people at Nintendo got some creative guys together and did an awesome looking cover for the game. Rumours has it that Rainbow will be the most open minded game up to date, you know how Pokemon Black and White was all about right and wrong, good and evil, yin and yang, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones that kind thing? Well Pokemin Rainbow totally gets rid of that, everyone is treated equally and happiness is the only thing that matters. Recreational drugs and casual sex is also highly encouraged, you can dress up your Pokemon however way you want without anyone judging you (As you can clearly see in the cover). Unfortunately this can be quite controversial to the general public... but hey I appreciate Pokemon thinking ahead and having a modern mindset. I also heard that in the beginning of the game when theNintendo announces Pokemon Rainbow3 years ago in Personal More Like This

What the winner will get out of this contest:

2. the winner's full name will be in the credits.
3. This character will be copyrighted primarily to this game, you are allowed to use the artwork for your portfolio, but may be a bit complicated if you want to sell him/her off to a new client. Details of copyright can be discussed with the winner.

F**k-ugly watermarks.I follow a lot of insanely talented artists here on DA, people whose work I look at in sheer awe and whose skill I can only dream of one day matching.F**k-ugly watermarks.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Unsurprisingly, that high quality of work leads to them either having their work ripped off or operating in fear of that happening. They, quite rightly, want to protect their art with a watermark, something which I'm not against at all.
What I am against, what I hate, is people using that god-awful DA watermark.
If you are a good artist: don't be a lazy git. Make your own watermark, use your own logo. You'll protect your work without doing it the disservice of having some automatically-generated arse-smear ruining it.
VVVVVVNo that's not a typo. That's the name of an indi game that is currently available a variety of ways (including the 3DS and Steam). I purchased it on a whim off of the 3DS's eShop and was pleasantly surprised by what I found.VVVVVV4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Don't let the low level graphics fool you. This is a seriously unique game and the retro feel and chiptune music all work together beautifully. It's kinda like crossing the level difficult insanity of Battle Kid with the exploration style gameplay of Metroid infused with the "no worries try again" aesthetic of Bit Trip Runner.
It's very difficult to describe this game but I'm gonna try anyway. The entire thing is built around the core mechanic of flipping gravity up and down. Your character cannot jump at all. The only way to move around is to flip gravity causing you to fall up or down. The level layouts are phenomenal at keeping you from getting too stuck or worried you might hit something bad, and there are plenty of checkpoints to ensure that you never have to

When we watch a cartoon, you don't really think about the people who voice them. They're just there. They don't seem to have age or a mortality to them. In our minds we tend to think of cartoons as immortal. You can drop an anvil on them and they just keep going. Unfortunately, those who give them life, through voice acting and animation, do not. Something to consider when watching any cartoon. Enjoy them, appreciate them. More importantly appreciate the talents behind them. They wont be around forever. (Myself included unfortunately) Stupid mortality.

Just because you have the ability to create a group; it doesn't mean you NEED to!
What is the point in creating a group that has no specific purpose when you're already on DevArt?!
"Oh, I'll create a group that will show any kind of photo"
Why create such a group when you can just hit "photography" on the DevArt front page?
"I'll create a group that'll display the work of anyone that wants to draw attention to their art"
Why create a group for that when it's already DevArt's PRIMARY PURPOSE?!

SlendermaidsI only really click on the thumbnails that appear on DA’s front page if they look good. I think most people do. A couple of days ago, there was a fabulous pencil-rendered image that caught my eye. I clicked on it, looked at it, admired the work, added the artist to my watch list and then noticed the minor anatomical flaw.Slendermaids1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It was a simple error, one probably born from a mix of the figure’s position on the page and the artist being so eager to start working the image up that they began before double-checking their construction lines (if they use them at all).
My mind, working in the way it does, saw a funny cartoon in it, and, me being me, I drew it, posted it and fully accept the consequences of it and the reaction of the audience, good or bad.
A little while later, another idea popped into my head. This one inspired purely by the concept of long-armed mermaids and the cartoon I had drawn, not the minor flaw in another artist’s quality work.
(This is how inspiration wo
