Writing Transformation StoriesMy background: I've been writing F&SF stories since around high school, and probably more often than not, they've involved some kind of transformation. I've got two novels out now on Amazon and I'm involved in a couple of writing Web sites and a mailing list called TSA-Talk.Writing Transformation Stories2 years ago in Editorial More Like This
I find the topic interesting because it's a versatile story element. It can be used for humor, horror, mystery, or other kinds of stories. It's central to science fiction and fantasy. In those genres, something major has changed in the world. In a TF story it's YOU that's changing. It's more personal, and that personal aspect lets you do things with a story that are emotional and give a character a strong motivation.
EXERCISE: Pick a setting, any setting, and a type of transformation. Maybe also a specific type of character. Work out the gist of a story. The example I had in mind: "The Wild West" + "The Sheriff" + "Werewolf". What my audience came up with was much stranger: "Medieval Fantasy" + "Steampunk Mechanica

...And when I say that, I'm not talking about me. lol I know that I have a lot more to improve. x3
This is a simple tutorial, who is also a friendly tip... :3
Some people often say that they would like to draw like me... But Lemme told you guys a thing... Don't try to draw like me... Try to draw, BETTER THAN me! <3
- Step #1: SET YOUR GOAL!
My improvement come from that way to think...
I used to think about Bernal's art....
"Someday, I'll be more awesome than this guy! >:3"
Of course that's not my desire to bypass no one... This is more like a "manthra"... Believe me, You'll work A LOT better if you have a goal. I call this system as "Master and pupil". I called this way to always remember me that I'm just a student, a pupil, who need to learn everyday if I prettend to someday be as great as my master.
Bernal used to be my "master". (Even if he didn't know it.) I tried to learn his style. His anatomy, coloring, and shading. I tried to apply his techniques at my style, that's a reall

Reminder that this was a WIP even when I began it, and I'm probably never touching this again.
Apparently some of y'all think this is a really cool or helpful thing, and that's fine its really the only thing keeping this piece up here.
But otherwise, just like, ignore it?
If you get peeved at anything that's in here, keep in mind you're getting mad at a 14 year old kid's unfinished homework project that's like 4 years old now. So, just keep that in perspective.

A. Subspecies: Some species have sub-species. Sub-species are basically Breeds. Example: Dogs are a canine species each breed of dog is a sub-species of the canine species.
A. Height/Length: This is basic. How tall and or long do you want your creature to be? Length or height is really your choice since it can be applied to any creature and both can be applied to a creature if applicable (My Fell Drake is described with both length and height)
1. Dimorphism? Is there a difference in size between males and females? Usually the females are larger with some species (some birds of prey for example) while sometimes the male

text file to fill the gap, removing the excuss of not having one. This text file also helps when creating a new character
from scratch, as well as helping to write down and save ideas in an organized fashion.
This text file is open to any modification that is seen fit for whoever may need. I encourage modification and redistribution
of this file. Have fun!
Examples are left within Parentheses, notes are not, Brackets, Braces, and Chevrons are used for name here signs.
Any given entry in the template may be multiplied as many times as needed for a characters design, just proceed every new entry with a number.
Friendly reminder, do not exceed 100 points in the Statistics section, OR think of modifying that part of the template, as it's possibly the most

Guide - realistic dictatorI've noticed a trend of having dictator/world-ruler/people in a position of power characters. Normally, I find these types of characters fascinating - I love hearing the minutiae of how they keep their regime in control, the cults of personality they develop, their rise and their fall ... it's one of the reasons I love 1984 so much; is Big Brother real? Did he even exist in the first place? Who is the real leader of Oceania? Unfortunately, I've begun to see it addressed shoddily and without much thought, so I decided to make a guide of sorts (more like a glorified checklist) for anyone who is curious on how to develop their dictatorial character, and to make them realistic.Guide - realistic dictator4 years ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
1. Why do they want power?
I have seen this written away with, "because they want to control everyone", which is true to an extent with many historical figures who were dictators, and also fictional characters. However, this often goes much deeper than "wanting to control everyone" or "they're mad, I tell you! MAD!"
Some helpful hints for Transfomation writersSome helpful hints for Transformation writersSome helpful hints for Transfomation writers2 years ago in Editorial More Like This
As a fan and novice transformation writer, I like to step back and really look at works I, or a friend have written and look a the closer detail of things (you could call it nitpicking in a way). But I also like to throw tips, tricks, what-to-do's and what-not-to-do's around in a critical way that's also constructive; One thing you want to do in transformation writing is include lots of detail right?
Wrong! But hear me out!
Yes, describe the setting, the transformation, the trigger and the character in detail. However, impertinent elements, such as how far the person walked down the lane, or the color if the neighbors bike, do not need to be thrown in. It's all about how much detail you use and where. Don't pour it all out at the transformation itself and skimp on the exposition, character or the aftermath.
Since the transformation is happening to a conscious being (duh), they will obviously sense it with all
Cliches - ''TF'' StoriesOn Literature:Cliches - ''TF'' Stories4 years ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
Most "TF" stories have a tendency to include the abbreviation "TF" somewhere in the title, in conjunction with what the transformee/victim is turning into.
Rarely will a TF story give much character development or expanded plot prior to the transformation.
Rarely will a transformation-themed story carry on beyond completion of the transformation.
In those that do (particularly short stories), the aftermath is typically brief in explanation, and often closed.
TF stories involving author-inserts are frequently derived from role-plays.
If present, TF stories tend to describe genitalia in:
deliberate 'kiddy' terms (i.e. manhood, woman-parts, member, etc); or
deliberate anatomical terms which seem out of place within the rest of the story.
This is especially common in transgender-themed TF stories.
The most common setting for a TF story is a generic non-descript locale.
if it is modern fantasy, it is usually Anytown, USA.

The Good Critic's GuideThe Good Critic's Guide:The Good Critic's Guide3 years ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
I have noticed that many critics on DA tend to leave rather harsh and sometimes subjective critiques on the pages of the artists being critiqued. Their rationale for doing so is based on the concept that 'we shouldn't molly-coddle each other and instead "tell it like it is"'. However this type of critique reflects poorly on one who is critiquing as opposed to the one who is being critiqued and I will explain why throughout the course of this guide. In essence I hope to use this resource as a way of teaching potential critics how to properly focus their abilities and direct their critiques in a manner that will allow them to be rated as a good critic.
Note: Before reading on, take note that this guide is only for literary works as I have no experience judging visual art and therefore cannot create a rating scale for those.
II. The Purpose of a Critique:
The first question that we must ask ourselves is this: "Why does an individu

[New section!] Over-mirroring aka sticking too much in patterns of the original series!
INTRODUCTION: DESIGN OF CHARACTER'S LOOKS: WHAT IS ITS ROLE IN THE WHOLE CHARACTER DESIGN?
At first: No costume can save a badly made character. Your Average Joe/Jane character won't become any more interesting even if you make him/her to wear turquoise hair and odd-colored neon-color eyes. What makes character interesting is his/her INNER SIDE: his/her personality, history, skills, behavior pattern, odd traits, running gags, simply WHAT (S)HE IS. A rye bread doesn't become into a cream cake even if you put on it whipped cream and strawberries.
However, a good design may help the reader/viewer to notice, tell apart and remember the character more easily. That's why all Naruto characters are not sporting black hair and wearing those green tactical vests: if all character seemed almost similar, it would be pain for the reader to tell who of th

1. Intelligence The intelligence of a creature is not just whether they have human intelligence or not. A creature can have not an ounce of human intelligence and still be considered highly intelligent. Now is where you have to leave behind your speciocentric thoughts (no not a real word but it’s adapted from the word Ethnocentric which means to think of your ethnicity as better than others. Same concept works with the human species thinking they are better than all animals) and look at every creature as being just as an equal to humans so that you can judge your creatures intelligence that way. Think of it as a mark from 1-10 with humans being 5 average and work from there. Even a creature smarter than a human might still be just an animal and live by instinct alone. It’s just an animal that can outsmart a human while living by instinct alone.
2. Basic: in this section you list the natural abilities your creature

PART II: NARUTO NINJA FASHION CATALOG
COMMON PIECES OF NARUTO NINJA CLOTHING FROM HEAD TO TOE
Now I introduce SOME of most typical pieces of ninja clothing.
Also known as hitai-ate. As you all know, it is a piece of cloth to which is installed a metal piece with the sign of the ninja's village. Most, MOST of the ninjas use forehead protector, but not all (like Jiraiya or Shizune). However, adding forehead protector to the design of your character makes the costume a lot more Naruto-like than not using it.
Forehead protector is one of most versatile accessories that are seen among Naruto ninjas: there is some different colors with them and even more ways to wear it. I list some:
* Blue. Most seen color, especially in Part I. Used by all level ninjas from genins to jounins. Blue forehead protectors used in Iwagakure tend to be purplish.
* Black. Another common color, mainly used by chuunins and jounins, very common in Pa

Here is a condensed, easily-accessible guide to writing a compelling and popular Fanfic!
Hopefully, this will help to redefine the ten basic "rules" and allow more excellent stories to emerge and satiate the growing need in the Community.
So, let us begin:
1. Know How to Write a Story
It may sound basic, but most stories lack the underlying structure on which a tale is based upon. Without this mold most stories will fail spectacularly, quickly losing readers to boredom or confusion, the writer's worst enemies.
All good stories have six essential parts:
This is the beginning of the work, usually it introduces the characters (although names aren't a requirement) and the general theme and tone for the story. It can last for anything from a paragraph

Lived a boy whose name was never told
Fairy tales his village yield
And hereby I shall tell
From the moment on which he was born
He was feared and met with hate and scorn
Burdens dwell on this devil's child
Too much for him to bare
Though there weren't a reason why
He should crumble down and cry
When the sunset dyes the sky
You had taken my hand that night
I don't know! I don't know! There's really nothing that I know!
If there is a kind of kindness after taking a scold
Or perhaps, may I ask
If there's a loving heat to hold
Even after the rain has really, really chilled me to the bone
I can't go! I can't go! I can't perish from this world!
And no matter what, I'm not allowed to dream it as so
When I fail, this fairy tale
That nobody even knows
Will be thrown to the dying sunset to be burnt up and swallowed
Like a coursing river the violence hits
Everyday I drown under looks they give
Unnoticed by the public eye
You stood there by my side
Common sense survival guideToday's world is flooded with incompetence and outright shit for brains idiots. For those gifted with the super power called common sense. We stand-alone and can see the hypocrisy that are today's standards. We have known that honesty is not the best policy instead; it is now feeding someone lies so that they never learn to better themselves. As we grow few in number, we cling to our super power and search desperately for one another hoping to breed more of ourselves before it's too late. With the situation far direr then I could ever put into words I have chosen to write a survival guide and hope to find a woman with common sense someday.
