The metal forced the air from his lungs as he was dropped. A heavily booted foot shoved against his back and he was suddenly sliding, his body twisting and rolling uncontrollably. There was nothing for his bare feet to grip to slow his descent and his cry of pain echoing close around him as an exposed rivet gouged into his calf. With his hands bound behind his back there was no way he could brace him as his uncontrolled descent came to an abrupt halt when his shoulder slammed painfully into the bottom of the pit Dick Grayson now found himself at the bottom of.
He groaned at the flare of pain, and looked back up the way he had fallen. Corrugated metal sides surrounded him and the thick ripple-like surface pressed into his back. Half of a large metal door was swinging into place twenty feet over his head and beyond that he could several feet of soil and stone above that.
Dick felt the thread of fear and swallowed the rising panic. But seeing the interior

It's never a good thing when the Big Bads team up.
Joker is bad enough; unpredictable and psychotic with extreme homicidal tendencies. Go up against him and a person was almost guaranteed to go home bleeding. Add in Two-Face to the mix and you've got a hell of a lot higher chance of not going home at all.
Batman was lucky, this time. It seemed that once again 'evil' proved unable to work with 'evil'. Two-Face didn't like Joker's inability to follow through with a plan. Joker got fed up with Harvey's lucky coin. By the time Batman had shown up, they had taken out more than half of the other's goons and thugs in a bloody massacre.
He jumped into the fray and in less than an hour he was securing the cuffs to an unconscious Joker's wrists. He could already hear the sirens approaching and doubted anyone was leaving the hideout without medical attention. Including him.
The body armor had taken most of it, but Joker had managed to slip a knife into the seam of

The crowd was thin, maybe a few dozen people, but it was enough for the drone of voice to fill the gymnasium. The cold that could be felt every time the door opened and a draft came in from the corridor.
Like the one that gusted across the back of thirteen year old Dick Grayson. He shivered momentarily where he stood and startled at the heavy hand that fell onto his shoulder.
"Good luck, Dick!"
With a wide smile on his face, thirteen year old Dick Grayson spun around. "Bruce! You came?"
"Of course," His guardian exclaimed, removing his designer leather gloves with a flourish. "I wouldn't miss one of your little math-things for anything!"

It was the vile taste of rancid leftovers that finally chased the last vestiges of unconsciousness from him mind. Thirteen year old Robin forced his eyes open and regretted it instantly when the all-too-familiar, pulsating pounding threatened to split his skull. 'Damn it, why am I the one who always ends up getting chloroformed," he complained internally, attempting to massage the headache that was centralized behind his temples. Except his hands wouldn't move; that was when he realized how he was laying.
On his side, with his hands unable to be moved from behind him.
It was always disconcerting, being kidnapped when he was Dick Grayson. If he had been Robin he could have fought back, but as the adopted son of billionaire Bruce Wayne he knows only the rudimentary basics of self defense; easily overpowered by someone determined enough. Especially if his abductor was armed with chloroform soaked rags and rendered him unconscious. Which left him helpless to whatever means of containment w

Knocking rubble off his back, Batman looked up, thankful that most of the roof above his head had remained intact, but it was only a matter of time before it gave in. With a new sense of urgency be began to gather Dick more securely in his arms.
"B-B-Bruce?" Teeth chattering, Dick looked questioningly up at his Guardian, the weeks of torture at the hands of his abductors, showing on his young face,
"Yeah it's me, chum, hold on, I'll get you out here. You're safe now." Bruce reassured the exhausted child, holding the boy closer to his chest, rubbing Dick's arms in attempt to keep hypothermia at bay.

"I've always wanted to carve up this bird!" Joker cooed maniacally, laughing as he moved in closer. Robin leaped back, noticing with dismay that he was being lured farther and farther away from the group. A few yards away, he noticed Wally being slammed out of the way by Count Vertigo, and winched in sympathy.
And then he ducked again, because the Joker's blade was just where his head had been a few moment ago.
"Aww, hold still, Boy Blunder." Joker hissed, his smile widening. The stretched red lips and bleached white skin look ghostly in the fading light. "You're taking all the fun out of this."

The air was thick, oppressive, and made breathing all that more difficult. The fumes of the chemical soaking the floor scorched his nostrils and stung his eyes, and for the first time he could recall he was grateful for the cloth and layers of thick rope cleaved between his lips. The corrosive vapors wouldn't be able to damage the inside of his mouth or throat.
A splash of grey opaque liquid ricocheted onto the denim of his well worn jeans, and over his leather combat boots, as the balaclava clad man continued to crack the top the barrels open and tip them out of the bed of the truck and onto their side.
Dick Grayson's pain-filled curse was muffled by the gag when the liquid combined with the gasoline he was already drenched in and began eating through the fabric and burning the skin of his shin. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a continuation of my AU of the Episode "Depths". I've been working on this for a while and I'm rather pleased with how it turned out. I borrowed a bit from DC Comic "Nightwing #114", because it's one of my favorites and I really wanted it in my story. So I took it and rewrote it and put it here and I'm not sorry! LoL! Now, a lot of people have wanted this continuation, so I hope it meets with your expectations. Please, enjoy!

Batman was snarling at the team, but most specifically, at Robin. The mission had been long and hard, with three days and two nights invested in what ultimately turned out to be a failure. The goal was surprisingly simple: get in, get the sample, get out. Unfortunately, it hadn't gone so smoothly. An alarm had been tripped at the warehouse they had been investigating, somehow slipping by Robin's electronic precautions. Armed gunmen had immediately arrived, shooting and blowing things up until there wasn't much left.
The team, bloody and bruised and battered, had managed to escape with their lives, but hadn't managed to get a sample of the chemical they were supposed to be investigating. Their mentors, frantic and worried, had beamed the team up to the Watchtower, where they recieved immediate medical care.
Batman was furious, but worst of all, he blamed Robin.

I also freely admit that the second scene has been transcribed and altered from the YJ Season 2 Episode: Summit. Thirdly, this story is the continuation of the Depths AU. In fact, it picks up less than 20 hours after the end of "Event Horizon". I suggest you read "Depths" then "Event Horizon" or none of this is going to make a lick of sense. Just FYI.

He couldn't breathe.
The hand around his throat cut off any intake of air he might have taken, and his eyes went wide in panic as he clawed at the iron-like fingers.
"Easy, Dick, easy," the voice was not what he expected and it took a moment for him to recognize it.
And then he could breathe again, deep ragged gasps that bordered on hysterical sobs.
Gentle fingers moved his own hand away from his throat and then were helping him sit up in his bed. No, not his bed, the hospital bed he'd been restricted to now for more than a week.
"Breathe slowly, son," Bruce was coaching him as the older man sat on the edge of the mattress next to him.
Dick nodded and fought to keep from hyperventilating. He closed his eyes, chasing the lingering images of his dream back into his subconscious. He heard the door open and a whispered conversation between the shift nurse, alerted by the sudden spike in his vitals monitor, and his guardian. A moment later

The only time he had never responded at all was when he had gotten captured by Two Face and had been beaten for hours, until he was barely alive by the time Batman had found him.
So yes, Bruce's paranoia was completely justified. Immediately, his mind began spinning with all the possible ways Robin could be avoiding his call. Maybe he was with Wally, organizing some sort of lethal and crazy prank, and they didn't want to be disturbed. Or maybe he was just currently Zeta-tubing somewhere, shorting out the comm's reception. Or maybe he was in Gotham, shivering in the clutches of the Joker or Penguin or somebody e
