We went searching for fall colors and found some yesterday. The Maple in the area have some of the brightest reds I've seen since moving to Utah.

I entered this into the Elite Artists group [link] Autumn photo contest.

I chose this image because it presents many of the facets of Autumn that make it a great time of year. A beautiful variety of colors, a sense of exploring, a path beckoning one to keep hiking and soaking up the saturated colors that are unique to these few weeks. Sometimes an image can describe that Fall feeling better than words ever could.

I love backpacking in the Desert. This was taken in a deep canyon near Lake Powell, Utah.

To get a sense of scale, check out my 3 friends on the river's shore in the middle of the frame. A humbling view to be sure.

Here's something a little different from me, I usually don't post abstract shots.

It seems like in this patch of Aspen trees, the undergrowth is in a struggle to outperform the trees themselves w it's own display of color. I made an attempt to show you some of their efforts.

This was taken a few weeks ago back at what I'm sure many of you will now recognize as Sun Dial Peak, reflecting in the peaceful waters of Lake Blanche. I think the two make a pretty nice pair.
