The Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park. A permit-only maze of sandstone that takes hours to navigate. If one starts early enough, it's fairly easy to spend the whole duration of the hike in complete silence and solitude. Getting lost, and in the process, finding some of the most amazing views in the park, and perhaps the world.
"I Dream of Jeannie" is 1 of my fave oldies TV shows .
For those of you who might not know what "I Dream of Jeannie" is about, I'll explain. It's a 1960s tv show about an Astronaut named Anthony Nelson (mostly called "Major Nelson" on the show), who in the pilot episode, had his capsule come down too early & landed him on a deserted island in the Pacific. While making a giant SOS message on the beach, he found a pretty purple bottle & noticed it kept moving on its own. Upon opening the stopper, a cloud of pink smoke came out & a beautiful blond woman in a pink harem costume appeared in front of him. It turned out she was a genie speaking in Persian. She could blink her eyes & making things happen magically. Once Anthony wished she could speak English, he was able to understand her. Major Nelson, being a humble astronaut, simply wished for a helicopter or a boat to get him home, & set Jeannie (as was her name) free. But upon first sight of him, Jeannie fell in love & covertly followed him home in her bottle. It turned out she had been stuck in there for 2,000 years, and wanted to have fun with Major Nelson.
The rest of the show is about the hilarity that ensued after Major Nelson got home with Jeannie . Eventually his best friend Major Healy found out about Jeannie & was in on the secret. Unfortunately much of the difficulties Major Nelson AND his best friend had to deal with was hiding Jeannie and her magical antics from normal people, ESPECIALLY Doctor Bellows. Dr. Bellows was the nosy, resident psychiatrist at NASA, & Major Nelson had to make sure that the doctor thought he was sane enough to go up into space, otherwise he'd get thrown from the space program, hence the higher difficulties & need to hide Jeannie and her magic.
I've made 2 other dolls based on this show: [link][link] already using the Heroine fan-art creator [link]. I fell in luv w/ it when I was 9 & watching Nick At Nite on friday evenings. It's a fun show, even though the special-effects are cheesy-looking nowadays. It's also very kid-friendly . One reason I love the show is b/c it has 3 things I like a lot: magic, NASA, & comedy .
For this re-creation, I used Azalea's Goddess-maker [link]. It was difficult making Jeannie's hair, little hat, & veil, though the rest of her costume was easy by comparison .
