Here I am as Tali'Zorah vas Normandy at Sakuracon 2011! Yet again, I was scrambling to finish this, so I still don't count it at finished. I got a good 2-month head start, but unfortunately I caught a NASTY flu bug and was incapable of doing any work for 3-4 weeks ;_; Soooo like usual, I was sewing this together at 8am on the 1st day of the con >.<
This costume wouldn't have even got out the door if not for my Vacuform table though! If there is one part of this costume you can't go without it's that, and we were still learning the quirks about proper molding techniques, so there were many times when we were worried that we wouldn't be able to produce a decent enough product in time. Fortunately a good paint job can make up for what a bad mold doesn't show;
The upside of all my frantic last-minute accessory worries was that I was too panicked about those to worry about the neck-to- ankle bodysuit. Everyone could see my squishy bits! @.@ I'm just grateful that it was comfortable to wear. And all the fans seemed to think that the squish was in all the right places appropriate to the character ;
I was very excited to find other Mass Effect cosplayers at the event. (Yay Fem-Shepard and Garrus!) I can't wait to see our web-episode interview get posted!
I plan to have this genuinely FINISHED in time for PAX Prime this year, so all you Mass Effect cosplayers come find me!
Oh look those famous swirls of hers! Mostly based on her hood design. Gonna say it right now this was a pain in the ass for me ha... Should've completed it months ago but put it off till recently. Just in time for Mass Effect 3.
Anyway tried to use premade swirls but in the end had to hand draw them. Controller has a mixture of purple/gray/black. I also replaced the green LEDs with some purple ones. Might be selling this but I dunno yet.
I'm preparing some Mass Effect 2 armor for my girlfriend ~aelice and I for a video game con (DEVASTATION in October - who's hitting it?). I'm working on Shepard out of sintra and foam, and at the same time I'm getting her Tali'Zorah costume done.
I added my own variations to the helmet design aesthetically. I've watched other artists struggle with it (I did too!). If you have any questions on how I did mine, let me know. I'll post a video showing the voice light shortly. (I wired it so it blinks when she speaks!)
Edit: Thanks for the feedback. A video will be coming soon! We got the kit from thatscoolwire.com. Very cool guys. I'll post pics of my Shepard build soon too.
Look who finally got around to uploading photos from AX! //lazy//
My friend Mikel was amazing and took a lot of photos of my costumes for me. This is one of my favorite shots that she took.
If any of you remember my old Tali cosplay, then you probably see the improvements I've made. Brand new body suit (better materials and I hand painted the hexagon pattern on it) and I redid the trim on the hoodie, as well as making it fit better. The helmet was cast out of resin and the mouthpiece lights up when I talk. And you know what? it's STILL not done. But it'll eventually get there haha.
Now here's some HILARIOUS that happened at the convention. Mikel and Kathryn were my escorts pretty much, especially Mikel. Apparently she looked like it too so this guy walks up.... Guy: //looks at Mikel// Can I take your picture? Mikel: ...sure? Guy: //turns to me and takes the picture. Turns back to Mikel// Thank you. Mikel: Uh... you're welcome. Me: ....Does he think I can't speak or something? Mikel: Maybe I just look like your bodyguard.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy. I'll upload more photos if I get bored. :3
