The Citadel was a complete mess. Buildings still had holes in them. The blood of the fallen still covered the walls. But people still lived on as though nothing had happened a few weeks ago, they still went to shop at the local stores, they still went to see the new Blasto movie, and they still gossiped about John Shepard's relationship status.
Maybe he's into Asari, thought some.
Maybe he likes only humans, hoped others.
But they were all wrong. He did not enjoy any of those as mates. No he had preferred the most unbelievable of choices. He had preferred Quarians. Specifically Tali Zorah vas Normandy.
Unfortunately no one but a few of the crew of the Normandy SR2 knew about this relationship. The rest of the universe was completely oblivious. They still tried to get with the Universe's Hero.

Never Again - Shepard x Tali
After what seemed to be years, the war against the Reapers was finally over. Shepard decided neither to control, nor destroy them. He had grown to hate the Illusive Man after he saw what he really was and, even though Anderson and everybody in the universe, including Shepard himself, wanted the Reapers dead, Shepard realised during these last minutes that he wasn't a murderer.
As he made his last steps, walking away from the little boy known as the Catalyst and headed towards the middle, the choice called 'Synthesis', flashes of his adventure started popping up. His first crew, how it was scattered by the Collectors, his reunion, his feel

Shepard laugh at Tali's confused reaction. "I'm asking you if you want to go out with me and enjoy the Citadel as my girlfriend?"
It was a soon as those words left his mouth that Tali had finally realized what he was asking. John Shepard was asking to spend more time with her. In Public. With her.
Suddenly Tali's emotions exploded into utter bliss. She hugged Shepard even tighter than before and began to cry her tears of happiness and replied "Yes! A thousand times yes Shepard!"
"Well that's good because if you had said no I might not have survived the trauma of rejection" he replied with a chuckle. This resulted in a chuckle from her lips as well, replacing the tears of happ

With a little 'hiss', Commander Shepard removed the young Quarians facemask. The fact that he was the very first human to ever see how a Quarian looked like under the tinted facemask of a Quarian environmental suit wasn't on his mind. Just seconds before, the young Quarian Tali'Zorah was babbling nervously, but the moment when their eyes both met no one said a single word. What he saw was so beautiful that he asked the gods how they could have cursed this Quarian to ever withhold her face from the rest of the world. 'Oh my...' were the only thoughts he could muster. Looking into each other's eyes for the first time without any obstructions felt like an eternity to both of them.
It could have been seconds, or minutes, even hours but when Tali saw that warming smile on her Commanders face, all of her fears, her nervousness and doubts vanished in a moment's instant. It felt like a burden, as heavy as the universe fell from her shoulders. 'Keelah.
A Proposal to Tali I press my forehead against hers, the warmth and gentle smile of her face so much more inviting than the pillow. My right hand slides along her temple and though her hair. Beneath the sheets, her leg is draped over mine, hooking behind and pulling it between hers. The only skin still hidden behind the old barrier of her suit covers from her breasts to the middle of her thighs, almost like a one-piece bathing suit. She has her left hand resting just behind my jaw, with her thumb rubbing my shaved side burn line.A Proposal to Tali3 years ago in Romance More Like This
A beautiful scent graces my nose, an amazing combination of hers formed from eezo, wine, and this pleasant, indescribable smell she always has. It fills my heart with a little euphoria that's nonexistent without her. She's wide awake and staring into my soul with those white irises and hazy red scleras. Neither of us really expected to fall asleep anyway. I run my hand across her face once more, feeling the gentle touch of her skin, so much softer and

Contains spoliers for those who have not completed the game.
The sounds of gunfire, the smell of the air on fire, the sight of destruction in every pebble of the earth, it was a nightmare like the one he'd been having for months since leaving Earth. It was the same dream every night--or at least, every night he could actually sleep. In his dreams Earth was a wasteland filled with the charred remains of only trees, a few benches, and the wispy shadows of people, yet every time he approached those shadows, only whispers greeted; they were the whispers of his friends, like Mordin Solus claiming continually someone else may have gotten it wrong, or Thane's last words from his death bed, or even Kaiden's lingering questions.
In his sleep everything that he kept from showing in his eyes in the presence of his crew came crushing down on him. Ashley's death all those years ago; it was his

With all of that set, I give myself a once over. Jacket's clean and presentable, white shirt underneath is sparkling in contrast, jeans are comfortable, and the shoes match. One of the few times I've ever really cared about what I'm wearing. Tali's worth it, though. I sigh in preparation and walk down to the mini-mall.
She's easy to spot when I climb down, the only Quarian in sight. She's preoccupied with some upgrade or another on the terminal as I sneak up behind her. "Guess who." I whisper, wrapping a hug around her stomach.
She jumps a little in surprise, but relaxes when she realizes it's me. "I was wondering how long

Her hand is sliding across the table in a dozen different directions and sending brandy in a dozen more. The only thing still dry is herself by some strange miracle. Commander John Shepard was lying on the couch in what he would call his new apartment, but after the events in the Bahak system, it was nothing more than a lavish prison to him. His home was just an ear shot's away from the Alliance headquarters on Earth, located in hustling and bustling Vancouver, of the United North American States. Lots of tall buildings and lovely patios for those who either had great Alliance connections, or really knew how to get the best in life. Shepard was not one of those people. Although, judging by his current living status, you would not think that. A large condo with snow white walls and floor, lamps giving off a calm blue light, bed and couch made out of special memory foam, working kitchen filled with food of the highest caliber, and furniture that would put the designs of the now extinct Ikea to shame. But all of that meant absolutely nothing to Shepard. After all, all the riches in the world couldn't make up for the l

"Orbital bombardment! If we're lucky, we'll put a dent in it before it realizes we're trying to kill it!"
All was quiet on the field. Not a sound could be heard and not a reaper was left in Earth's skies. Admiral Tali'Zorah watched from the dark, burning streets of London as Harbinger fled from the orbital bombardment, as the might of the galaxy made one last, desperate attempt to stop the reapers. She understood the motivation: Hammer Team was stopped in their dash to reach the Citadel... the team was decimated.
What petrified Tali the most was that the man she loved, Commander Joshua Shepard, was at the tip of the team's spear and she watched as he was seemingly incinerated by that damnable machine. When the dust faded and her heart

Slowly, but surely, our relationship started to become more intimate. I started going on dates with Tali, across the gleaming cities of Rannoch. Unintentionally recollecting all of the fun we've had in the past, and how, despite all the glamour, Rannoch will never be as unforgettable as the Citadel. With all of the fun shop owners, people, classic food, easy to win-over clerks who were giving out discounts like candy. I even took her and Shanah to the Citadel a few times, just to bring back all of the good memories when we weren't fighting Reapers, Collectors, or the like. And we ended up creating some new ones. Like letting Shanah buy a fish only to accidentally let it swim freely in the Presidium pool, making one particular Krogan very happy. Thinking he finally caught a legit Presidium fish. For he obviously never seen an Earth gold fish before.
As the days turned into weeks, and so forth, I noticed that I was referring to Shepard's memories as my own a lot more often.
