10 Types Of Street Photographers"Over the last few years, I have met or seen in action quite a few photographers. A lot of great and passionate people covering a wide range of styles, gear and personalities. Here is therefore an attempt to classify them in different types. This is evidently a satire, to be taken with humor, but I am sure you'll find a little bit of yourself in some of these types.10 Types Of Street Photographers3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I) The Intellectual : Everything in a shot is about lines, metaphors, psychology, sociology, history or you name it. No element in his pictures is ever the result of hazard since his swift eyes detected and interpreted every single detail before he triggered. Even the lousiest shot becomes the next Michelangelo after going through his everlasting rhetoric. Yet, most often, he is actually the only one to understand, and like his pictures.
II) The English Patient : Patience is his main virtue. A shot is as good as the time and effort it took to get it. He identifies carefully a setting, studies the light
The Birth of PhotographySince the late Renaissance that artists and inventors had been looking for a mechanical method of capturing visual scenes. Previously, using the camera obscura, artists would manually trace what they saw, but this was used in drawing, study and entertainment, not commercial purposes. The Birth of Photography3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The first commercially photographic process with sucess was the Daguerréotype, in wich the obtained image was (is) a direct positive made in the camera on a silvered copper plate.
The surface of a daguerreotype is like a mirror, with the image made directly on the silvered surface. It is very fragile and can be rubbed off with a finger, and the finished plate has to be angled so as to reflect some dark surface in order to view the image properly. Depending on the angle viewed, and the color of the surface reflected into it, the image can change from a positive to a negative.
The exposure in the camera was too long to conveniently take portraits, and the first subjects taken were street scen
why I've lost touch to this placeI don't quite know how it happened that exactly tonight the idea for creating a post like this crept up to me, and the longer I think of it I see no particular reason either. it's one of these things that rambles in the back of your mind for long enough, yet you're never too aware of it ... and all of the sudden it bursts out to the world, or it is willing to, and you are the one to choose if you want that to be.why I've lost touch to this place2 years ago in Personal More Like This
now I've been on this website for long enough and it's either me or the website that changed in order for me to feel about it the way I do; even though I believe it is not quite the latter. I remember these times where I adored this website and it meant so much to me so I ended up spending ages browsing the width of galleries and art we have on here; now that hasn't changed, I'm still fascinated by some things that I find.
yet what something inside of me started to think is that this place has become yet another place that just scratches along the surface and doesn't dig deepe

The Truth in PhotographyAs you might know, one of the biggest controversies of the moment is the outcome of the Contest Pictures of The Year International. The Truth in Photography2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This photo, from Chip Litherland, was the winner.
The controversy? The process by which the image was obtained: a cellular phone.
And, of course, without the natural colors but with the treatment we learned to recognize: Hipstamatic.
Without taking sides, and only making some questions, let's see:
Why and how the photo was taken? Because the photographer was there and used the reachable method at the time.
Is it a manipulation? Well, the colors, tones, contrasts are not natural.
The reality is there, depicted, but the obtained image is just an interpretation. As usual.
But doesn't your camera interpret the reality in a different way from mine? Even with the same camera and model, in the same place, it's possible to interpret the reality in a different way: all we have to do is tweak pre-set modes. Is this not true
SOPA, Hypocrisy, Scandal, DMCA, and CensorshipMissing The PointSOPA, Hypocrisy, Scandal, DMCA, and Censorship3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been disappointed to see the various responses to SOPA, especially the "DEVIATION CENSORED" images. They so completely miss the point that I can only assume the people posting them have absolutely no comprehension of what SOPA means, why it's a problem, and what they're actually protesting against.
First off, SOPA is not about censorship. Unfortunately, many of the opponents of SOPA decided to cast it as being about censorship in order to mobilize public opinion. Why did they do that? Unfortunately, they did that for two reasons: 1) they knew that without mobilizing mass support, the bill would go through and 2) they knew that the masses they wanted to get support from simply don't care/understand the real problem enough to do anything - because the truth is much to complicated for the typical internet user. I have some sympathy for that view, because I've discovered over and over again that copyright is, in fact, too complicated for the typi

I believe that Minecraft is the future of massive multiplayer games, and I'm surprised that none of the big developers/publishers have cottoned onto it yet.
They look at Minecraft and think its success is down to its business model, or to its blocky, retro charm.
It's down to the fact that you get out of it what you put into it.
With a MMORPG, there are pre-scripted quests. With Minecraft, you set the quests yourself or others.
User created content is the key. All you have to do is provide the players with the tools to build.
There are two types of gamer: wall builders and wall breakers.
Wall builders are the ones that spend an age in an RTS game getting their base just right. They play SimCity and act as Dungeon Master during an RPG.
Wall breakers are the type to follow the mission brief. They get set a quest and they follow it. They're the Call of Duty crowd and they're never more happy than when

Most people ask " do you do landscapes, action, portraits or weddings". The truth is I do all these things but my favourite is Abstract Photography. Many definitions on abtract art will tell you that an abstract is one without a

Irn-Bru: now illegal in Canada.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25867613Irn-Bru: now illegal in Canada.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Irn Bru is made from girders, the Scots claim. And I believe them.
The alarmingly coloured liquid is “Scotland’s other national drink” after the obvious Whiskey. It’s been produced since 1901 and is now illegal in Canada because it contains Ponceau 4R, a food colourant that is considered a carcinogenic be some food standard agencies around the world. One which may cause a reaction in those allergic to aspirin and intensify the effects of asthma. Even the USA, who are generally happy to eat anything, insisted the formula be altered before sale within its borders, and even then it can only be purchased in 500ml bottles out of the fear that any greater intake will result in someone dissolving.
“Irn Bru” is the phonetically written pronunciation of “Iron Brew”, as said with the collective speech impediment that is the Scottish accent (the result of collapsed nasal passages due to centuries of
