I think of my mother as my hero because she told me that I needed to be true to myself. That it didn't matter what others thought of me. She taught me to believe in myself, to follow my heart. When I was younger I was bullied by my classmates. I remembered one day coming home from the bus crying. Someone was teasing me and pulling at my hair because I was a "loser". I remembered her pulling me into a hug and saying to me, "You shouldn't care what they think. Don't make them rule your life." I've kept those words in my heart ever since. The bullying after that stop when they noticed that I wasn't paying attention to them. Because of her advice, my bullying stopped.
