Beyond the Extended Cut... I will reignite. And so the end creeped upon us. With the Extended Cut behind me I can finally say that I've seen the full extent of how BioWare wanted to end the Mass Effect trilogy... And I disliked it. Don't get me wrong, the Extended Cut is a vast improvement over the vanilla endings and I think that everyone should check it out - but it is still the same unfitting ending, it is still something taken out from another story and sewn onto Mass Effect's glistening skin, with it still kicking and screaming (yes, this is just a personal opinion and no, I am not bitter about that - I just dislike how it ended). The themes that made Mass Effect so great are still either nowhere to be found, or twisted around to present a vision I just cannot accept as something that belongs there. My fanface is itching, my writer sense tingling... Not the way I want to end one of the greatest sci-fi experiences of my nerdy little life.Beyond the Extended Cut... I will reignite.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There will be no extended cuts to the Extended Cut. Either you love the current finale,

Mass Effect 3 - Happy Ending Mod...Mass Effect 3 - Happy Ending Mod2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Yet again the Mass Effect Fandom proved that it will not leave the ending in the state it was presented in the game. A certain (fan!) mod was created (and is right now in the testing phase) a Happy Ending Mod for ME3. We can destroy the Reapers, Shepard lives (EDI and Geth too) and most importantly of all we don't have to worry about the Star Child.
Instruction how to install it and the mod itself can be found here:
You can also check how the mod works here on youtube:

His name is Gavin Dunne. Irish born musician who goes by the moniker, Miracle of Sound.
For those of you who don't know, Gavin has been a musician for several years. But over the last couple of years has gained notoriety for his video game themed songs. From Mass Effect to Skyrim and even songs inspired by shows like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.
Gavin has crossed styles from dubstep to metal and always delivers. With five albums under his belt and over a hundred songs he is constantly pumping out music for those to enjoy and listen to and now he shares a bit of himself with us.
So...here we go!
So I know this is probably something that you answer quite often, but for those reading who are not all that familiar, could you tell us a bit about who you are and your work

"Hey man, I thought perhaps you might be able to shed some light on something;
Where does one start with getting into your world? illustration? Animation? General fine art? I’m 28 and looking at rebooting my life by advancing my favourite lifelong hobby into (hopefully) a better job, but to risk 3 years of my life and upwards of £30k, I don’t want to go in the wrong direction right at the start.
I know you’re USA and I’m UK, but what course did you do? What’s your origin story, and your advice to someone who wants to follow a similar path?
Cheers bro, really appreciate the time you take to read this meaty message.”
First off, sorry for the late reply. I let messages build up and answer when I can. I wonder if you’ve already made some decisions about your direction toward comics and this response is way too late! But regardless, I’ll answer anyway! I’m up in the mid

The extended cut of Mass Effect 3 did more than just add a slideshow (although there actually was one at one point). BioWare has given players a new ending as well. Shepard can now tell the star child to go to hell and refuse to make a decision.
Here are all "4" endings, in case you don't want to waste your time playing the final 2 missions again.

Critique and youThere was a small discussion in my last journal about unhelpful tutorials, that touched the topic of critique.Critique and you3 months ago in Art Features More Like This
So, I decided to talk about critique for a bit.
In the online art community there is no unified stance on critique. Some people are totally incapable of recieving any form of critisism of their creation and think it's the devil. Some think that critique is should always be a "sandwich". Some people think that anything goes and the artist should listen to all feedback if he chooses to publish art online. Some say critique is only valid "constructive" and some say that it doesn't take a chef to know the steak was burnt.
I'll talk about how I percieve it - and mind you, my perception had changed over the years. This is more about what I figured during this time.
Point 1: Feedback is essential for development. That's not a solely artistic thing. Every human activity implies there's a trial and error process involved in the honing of any skill and being taught that skill. Thing is,

I was chatting with the inimitable :iconjoeblack777j: and the subject of taking the cast of Mass Effect and putting them into an entire High School series came up in his blog:
I love it when fans can brainstorm together. :iconpolymorphicgirl: and I actually had a similar concept way back in November last year which we wrote out in EPIC detail. The origin of Mass Effect characters in high school was itself spun from another conversation poly-m had with loudchai .

You want to get better at representational art.
Here on deviantart its often the case where a noobie will ask a question and another noobie will answer with the very uninspired answer of "practice practice practice." At its core this advice is sound, but the noobie-teacher has just regurgitated what he or she has heard a thousand times over from other would-be noobie-teachers and has not expressed much else. Diligence is the key, but without a direction or goal this diligence might be

Shepard Cosplays As Shepard - Update! I'm sorry, but can we take a moment to talk about how awesome Mark Meer is?Shepard Cosplays As Shepard - Update!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Imagine you are at DragonCon, enjoying the cosplay during a sunny break away from the con floor. Then yet another guy in a Commander Shepard outfit struts by. But wait just a minute...there's something different about him. He looks familiar...kinda. Wait, that's the guy who actually plays the male version of Commander Shepard's Voice in Mass Effect!
I can't decide if the best thing about this quick video is the incredulity in the fans' voices as they figure out who they're looking at. Or it might be that Meer can go somewhat incognito as a character he plays and whose voice is known by millions all over the world. Either way it's awesome.
And if you think that's cool, Did you know that Rana McAnear- The face of Samara/Morinth was also cosplaying with him? (https://www.facebook.com/SamaraME2)
Well if you liked that, there's a bit of an in
