Weekly Spell Corner VII know I know, it's been 10 days, I'm slacking, but my internet got cut off and another bunch of crazy stuff and excuses I'm sure none of you are interested in... So! On with this weeks (very belated) Spell Corner!
As we all know, it's Mabon next week, or Ostara for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere, but I know there are other members with journals on Lore and such, so I'll leave those specifics to them. However, this time of year is great for spells centered around balancing and cleansing. Washing out the old, and welcoming the new, in preparation for Samhain, with the concentration on Life, Death and Rebirth.
To Banish Negative Energy
River stones and an Earthen bowl of water are used in this ritual. Its purpose is to deflect negativity.
Fill the bowl nearly full of river stones, then fill the bowl with water. The chant used here is:
"Bowl of reflection stones of protection
may the reason of my harm feel the power of this charm

I ask you grant me the patience, kindness, and will
To assist others, even those who bid me ill.
I seek your guidance and strength
For eternal is its length.
But most of all,
I seek your mercy
And grace me the fortune
Of your daily love and blessing.

SamhainThere are four traditional Gaelic seasonal festivals involving great feasts, bonfires, and dancing: Samhain (Feast of the Dead), Imbolc (Day of Cailleach), Beltane (Fertility Festival), and Lughnasadh (Feast of Lugh). Samhain is a Celtic Pagan Fire Festival of the Dead signifying the last harvest of the year before winter and is the time when twin bonfires are lit, and animals and people pass between them in a cleansing ritual and the bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into the flames, as well as the day when the last livestock to be taken is killed and prepared, the last foods from the fields are brought in, and a feast is held, leaving a place set for the ancestors to join the living. In addition, all the hearth fires are put out and a flame is taken from a central bonfire to light the hearth fires as a symbol of renewal and casting away the old. Many traditions are observed on this day, from the carving of small squashes and turnipsSamhain2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Tells me I must go
Suddenly my senses synced
Like a memory from long ago
In the forest I am strong
As I race the wind
Then I hear a song
Something told me to follow the rivers flow
My spirit fierce as fire
My fears only a faint echo
To find this music my only desire
As I reach a glade
I see a woman before me
Her face obscured by the oak trees shade
I was unable to see her clearly
She beckons me forward
And something catches my eye as I near
And my step faltered
She asks me something but I don't hear
For I can't take my eyes
From the warrior next to her
She realizes this and sighs
And he comes silent as a whisper
As I see them standing there together
I realize who they are
As if it were written and the man's armor
My lord and lady, perhaps my savior
A Few Words About Pagan Hostility(Cross posted to my Personal Journal.)A Few Words About Pagan Hostility1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I have been poking at various Pagan and Wiccan books over the years that I am guided to pick up and read (one's Spirit Guides and Spiritual Instincts can be so helpful in this capacity) and in reading them, I take serious consideration of the words written in them and do much meditation and conference with my Spirit Guides, as well as cross referencing to find the truth, or rather what feels right and true. However, as I was reading one book I picked up recently, I found an odd term that I thought I would research, wondering at the meaning and use of it. That is when I found out about a very disturbing trend among the Pagan community - Hate Mongering against other Pagans for their views on Paganism and especially Wiccanism.
The term I came across was "Fluffy Bunny" Pagans. In doing some research, I also found the term "Hardcore" Pagans

What YOU Can DoWhat is something that anti-choicers are notorious for? Something that can help our cause as well, if utilized correctly? Posters and Pamphlets of course! I'm sure each and every one of us is all too aware of anti-choicers abuse of this method - plastering manipulative, inaccurate, and out right terrifying images paired with ridiculous and offensive slogans all over for the public eye to see. What YOU Can Do2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well, we don't want to do that. Let's not scare the children and the elderly, here - but they do have the right idea. Do you think all of these abominable laws would get passed if they sat there in their homes and whispered "I don't like this" to one another? Just think about it, spreading the word (even if 'the word' happens to be a poorly photoshopped lie) works. Look at the KONY 2012 scam, for example, it became huge - because you couldn't bat an eye without a poster showing up.
So I say it's time we get with the times and get out there. We've got to be loud, we've got to be heard, we've
Vagina Vagina VaginaSo I heard about this happening in which Michigan House Democrat Lisa Brown was banned from speaking after she said vagina. Specifically referring to her own vagina. “Mr. Speaker, I’m flattered that you’re all so interested my vagina, but no means no.” She and other representative are fighting for women's reproductive rights and I could see it if she referred to her vagina in a derogatory way but..all she said was vagina.Vagina Vagina Vagina2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you watch the video, she talks about how religious freedom doesn't mean someone can force their religious beliefs on others. She being jewish, keeps her kosher practices at home and even her religious beliefs say the life of the mother is more important than a fetus. Why not force her religious beliefs on everyone then?
Lisa Brown actually wasn't told why she was banned but she jokes that she might never know if she was banned for being Jewish or saying vagina.
