Since Halloween is rapidly approaching, I think it's about time to reveal the secrets of my Hunter-make-up to you, my fellow zombies.
So, first things first:
What do you need/what did I use?
Kryolan Supracolor Greasepaint palette(TypeA) + a pale yellowish-grayish corpsish skintone (Guess it's been ivory or GIIIA)
Mastix Spirit Gum
loose transparent powder (got some from Grimas ages ago, so that certain product is not sold anymore and I can't link it )

On Photographing Robots in PublicSo apparently, the question on people's minds is: "When you take pictures of Transformers in public, how do people react??"On Photographing Robots in Public3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I cannot believe how many times I've been asked this question recently. I didn't realize this was such a hot topic, seriously. At first I tried answering people individually, but that got to be a bit of typing, so I thought I'd just put this journal together. So, by popular request, I give you people's reactions to me taking pictures of robots in public, whee!
1. People ignore me. Seriously, this is what happens about 95% of the time. People just act like I don't exist.
2. People look at me sideways. Honestly? I think most of these people are just curious about what I'm doing, but are too shy to ask.
3. People look freaked out, or even upset. This happens less often, but it does happen. I think people are just afraid of what they don't understand, and it ruffles their feathers that some weird girl is snapping pix of robots in the middle of

Before I start talking about this new feature, here are the pro and con for this feature.
1.enables sharing, discover more from different artist and from the same artist
2.Help promote your artworks when displayed, help promote other artist
1.Distracting from the deviation that you are viewing
2.Displays non related deviation or not up to standard deviation
3.Some deviants find it like ads. They want to be able to pick who they want to have featured with their deviation.
4.Takes longer to load
After considering all these pros and cons, honestly, I think this feature has potential. Deviantart is going in a good direction although they might not be implementing it the right way. Deviantart is about community of artists, their works ,

Miku Started, or should I say Start Your Engines?!I couldn't get a lot done because I started kinda late and I don't have the energy to stay up like a vampire today because I had to get up so early to return the rental truck and other things.. Anyways, I started on the head and quickly painted up some eye, eyebrow and eye lash textures. As you know its a first pass so they will probably be improved later when I really texture her.Miku Started, or should I say Start Your Engines?!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Not too much to say. Her face felt wide to me because of how far apart her eyes are. I guess its just the artists style for 2013. Also I'm trying to bring all the illustrations together to do the model. So the highlights are off the illustration in my miku announcement journal post while the eyes are inspired by the little nendroid and image behind the 3d model in the screen shot.

YOU need to this journal, watch me and in the comments post a link/thumb to a piece of your art that you'd like me to feature in future journals. Please spread the word about this, the more people who see this, the more people who enter, the more people who have a chance to discover your lovely art. I will randomly select the winners from the people who meet the qualifications previously stated. There will be FIVE WINNERS who will win 400 each. **UPDATE** I will select the winners on January 25th. Points will be given to winners by January 26th at the latest. Q of the Week:Difference of Steam/Diesel/CyberpunkWEEK 2Q of the Week:Difference of Steam/Diesel/Cyberpunk3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Every week I will be discussing a new question of the week about steampunk. This one is a day early (busy tomorrow).
Question: What is the difference between Steampunk, Dieselpunk, and Cyberpunk?
A: First, a small history lesson. Before the Victorian Era, James Watt came up with the designs for the steam engine that became prominent in the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution took place between the years 1750-1850 so before and during the Victorian Era (1837-1901). The Edwardian Era took place between the years 1901-1910 which then was followed by WWI, a time of peace, then WWII. The use of steam powered engines faded out during WWII due to the inefficiency of steam power.
Before WWII, experimentation on diesel fueled engines began, but there was not a high demand for it until after WWII. Petroleum usage had risen, so people were looking for an alternative to petroleum. Congrats, your minute history course is complete.
So what’s the diff
Racing Miku Riging + Fixing her pos car..So far rigging hasn't been too bad. Pre-planing helps a lot. I remember Miskai's shoulder taking forever to weight, and the ribbons and all that ugly stuff to deal with. Miku has been pretty forgiving so far. Crosses fingers for hair part. So far her body is rigging accept her fingers and she will have a groove bone. I hope i remember to put those little dummy bones in her elbows that resolve gimble (riging world space animation term). She still needs all the physics stuff. I need to make a hair rig and the skirt rig and tie rig so it flops around. So that takes a little time. Then weighting it all is the other half the battle.Racing Miku Riging + Fixing her pos car..3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm going to try to get Misaki style physics on the hair.
This is the side project. I still dono if I'm getting into something I don't want to because this model is seriously in ugly shape. I mean what a piece of crap lol! CAD exports to software used for anything but cad is such a nightmare. The mesh is a mess, face normals everywhere, every polygon is its own

My father left the hospital this week end. Now he has three stents and luckily he didn't have to have more important surgery. Of course he has to take some medicines and he accept this easily. For the diabetes, the doctors were not able to discover what he exactly had. It is a weird, strange kind of diabetes it seems but he also takes care about what he eats now! It will be more difficult to make him understand that HE MUST stop smoking but I think my mother and I will be able to help him.
Nevertheless I want to say YOU ALL a VERY BIG THANK YOU! Your support means the worlds, all your prays, your love and your words were priceless during those awful days! I can't tell you enough how much I'm grateful for what you did
FEATURED ARTISTS! Show them some love!
The Effectiveness of SimplicityI like to draw and look at rather complex works of illustration. Perpectiveful pinnacles of technical achievement, etc. However, I watch a good number of artists who use simplicity to great effect. Whether it be representing more complex objects and figures as simpler forms, or just a philosophy of "less is more," I can easily be just as impressed (if not more so) with the understanding and implementation of simplicity as I get with more complex works. The Effectiveness of Simplicity2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here's a short feature of some examples of works I've seen recently that got me good. Enjoy!
This work by radsechrist looks complex (such as the third image which I'll be talking about a bit here,) and to an extent it is -- however upon closer inspection, the actual details and construction is quite simplified, even crude. And it's fantastic. The artist shows such a vast understanding of how and where to place detail that matters,
Some thoughts on commissions from a commissioner.I commission art a lot. I've commissioned from many different artists all over the world. And after several years here are a few on my own personal thoughts on commissionsSome thoughts on commissions from a commissioner.4 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. List you prices.
- Whether its flat rates or by the hour, artists that commissions should list their rates. Most the time the old saying "If you have to ask, it probably costs to much." really comes into play here. I'm so much more likely to commission someone where I can gauge my budget. I myself am a single income family of five. That means I have a budget. A budget means I shop around. So that means when I am comparing artists if I know what I can spend with one and not the other, I'm more likely to go with the one I know I can budget.
2. List your customers.
- It is so much easier for a person to know where they stand when you have them listed.
2½. Update your customers.
- Most artists have an idea how long something is going to take. Now it's understandable that the idea isn't always acc

Who knows when you're going to hit the zeitgeist, and suddenly your world changes in way you could never predict?
I was 20 years old and messing up everything in a monumental way. I'd had my heart broken, failed to stay focused on work, and run up a ton of debts. I was drinking Falstaffian quantities, and doing pretty much all I could to avoid facing into my own reality. My electricity was cut off, then my phone. Instead of collecting rent from my lodger I got drunk with him on a fairly nightly basis.
I needed to face it - I was a mess.
I returned to London aged 21 with a ten pound note in my pocket and a dear friend prepared to put me up while I got back on my feet. Brian West was a cartoonist and writer then, and together we tried numerous things to bring in money and put beer and food in our bellies. We spent our weekends getting up at 4.30am to secure a slot at Campden Market where we drew caricatures. We planned magical comedy skits f

Don't get me wrong here. I have nothing against photographers joining camera clubs. For all intends and purposes, it's still one of the best means of honing your craft and to share knowledge. But it is what we bring into these gatherings that I would like to challenge people. Because chances are (and this is from my experience attending camera clubs before), people end up just sharing the same things. We tend to look over the shoulder of another person's work and get try to get inspiration from there. What happens is what I would call, "concept incest." Images over time would tend to look the same and monotonous. The concepts for fashion for example, dull out and harden to literal meanings. Some hobbyists tend to make a direct correlation between evening gowns and the notion of "high fashion". So anything in a gown for them is already considered "high fashion." It isn't the case most of the t

When I was a kid I wanted to be just like my father. He passed away when I was 28 but man he left a mark! By the time I was a teenager I was a lot to handle - so we hardly ever saw eye to eye. He was a tough and talented man. To me he was like a super hero. He had a very black and white philosophy about life. He defined right and wrong very distinctly - there was no grey in his world. As a kid, a philosophy like that makes complete sense even if it isn't very realistic. He was a former pro boxer turned commercial artist. Eventually he ran his own ad agency. He could play guitar and piano by ear and played baseball as often as he could. He also loved comi

Worbla can be simple paint, varnish or spray. But what only few people know, you can even color Worbla's Deco Art.
So let's go:

an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :PI got a question the other day, about what dog breed Sam and Saunders in their anthro form is supposed to be.an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :P3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I started answering the comment, but soon found out it would just end up being a looooong reply... And I thought, as I wrote, that maybe others would be interested in what breed they and their relatives are, as well as Spike's breed, some character origins, how the people (or anthro) in my little fictive universe views their fellow inhabitants, and a bit of history around this whole thing.
Therefore, I'm deciding on writing a journal entry about this.
The different breeds.
Saunders and Sam were originally, when I first created and designed them, supposed to be Golden Retrievers. Thus, they did in fact both have floppy, furry ears just like the Golden has. For some reason, I felt this made the characters look sad, so I changed - I think - Saunders' ears first to stand up just like a Terrier's ears. Sam's ears changed shortly after. I kept this change as I thought it ma
Tools of the TradeHey guys. I figured I'd go ahead and do a FAQ journal entry. Just a basic list of the tools I'm currently using for my marker work. I have a new tutorial for my markers that I'll post when I'm able to share the art I used for the progress shots. Feel free to fire away with any questions and hopefully, this can be a go to guide for basic info on my tools. I'm not going to talk about oil painting materials as I'm still figuring all that out and I doubt an answer I give today will hold up in the future.Tools of the Trade3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ok Here goes...
Markers: Prismacolor Cool and French grey markers. I think "Copic" has become another word for "marker" these days, so it's assumed that I'm using Copics for all of my work, but I actually use Prismacolor for all of my figures and detail work and only use Copic markers for backgrounds. I use to use "Warm" greys but I like the sepia look of French more now. I also occasionally use Copic color markers when I'm doing a full color marker piece. Why do I like Prismacolor markers
