Halloween SpecialHunter Make-up TutorialHalloween Special3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Since Halloween is rapidly approaching, I think it's about time to reveal the secrets of my Hunter-make-up to you, my fellow zombies.
So, first things first:
What do you need/what did I use?
Kryolan Supracolor Greasepaint palette(TypeA) + a pale yellowish-grayish corpsish skintone (Guess it's been ivory or GIIIA)
Mastix Spirit Gum
loose transparent powder (got some from Grimas ages ago, so that certain product is not sold anymore and I can't link it )

We're headed to Comic-Con International:
San Diego to sponsor Artists' Alley!
We Love Artists' Alley
We're back at Comic-Con!
Last year, our sponsorship of Artists' Alley was a huge success. We were able to provide a more comfortable environment for the artists, display their art on huge screens over the Alley, and let people attending the convention draw with deviantART muro on fantastic digital screens. We plan to do this and more in 2012 as we take on the great pleasure of sponsoring Artists' Alley at San Diego Comic-C

What materials do you need:

Speedpaint Tips: Getting Started! In the interest of helping people who are new to speedpainting get started, and also in the interest of getting tips and tricks out in the open that might be helpful to even those who have done it a while, I'm opening this Journal entry up to the group to post your speedpainting techniques to share with the group!Speedpaint Tips: Getting Started!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Guidelines for posting (I believe this will help keep the thread readable to those coming in):
1) Give your technique a title
2) Provide a description with as much detail as is necessary to allow someone to try the technique and obtain some success with it
3) If possible, provide a link to examples that use this technique, and indicate how the technique was used
4) Please only include one tip per post
5) You may ABSOLUTELY respond to other people's posts, ask questions, and extend the tips! As this isn't a forum, please make sure you respond to the right posts when asking a question, or the original author might not see it! Questions should ONLY go under existing tips though.

Rapunzel's Wig FAQ and an InterviewHey everyone!Rapunzel's Wig FAQ and an Interview3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's been a while since I last checked in. In fact, it's been so long that I just realised I never posted the cosplay interview I did here (and that was in January!). Japan Cinema invited me to chat to them for a while for their cosplay corner - if you're interested, you can read about it over here.
In other news, I have finally gotten around to doing a photoshoot for Rapunzel! Thank you so much to :iconstrawdoll: for being such an amazing photographer...you're so nice to me :'D And so, since I'm about to attack you all with photos, I figured it would be a great time to finally, finally post the FAQ I've been promising for her wig. Here we go!
RAPUNZEL'S WIG - THE FAQ
Oh my god, is that your real hair?
Er, no. Really, really no.
It must be really heavy then! How much does it weigh?
This is hands down the most comm

For the halfmask:
I was heavily inspired by Volpin's Portal Gun tutorial, even though I wasn't making the gun. I tried to follow his process, since I knew that the finished mask had to have the same plastic-y glossy finish. However, Volpin is a crafting genius and used a lot of vague, but still very technical, mumbo-jumbo in his descriptions so I interpreted it as best I could.
Also, the foam carving and the gesso sanding is very messy and will leave dust everywhere. Don't do it indoors! I was stupid and pretty much did this entire project in my bedroom. Everything is still kinda dusty and I probably have cancer or something from breathing it in.
Step one was gathering the materials:
Medium and Fine Grit Sandpaper
Black Acrylic Paint

Thought it might be time for a little update.
First of all I would like to apologize for not being able to reply on all your lovely comments and artworks right away. I'm writing my Masters thesis at the moment and spend a lot of time in the laboratory and I find it more and more difficult to keep up with all the messages I'm receiving. I'm afraid I may not be able to answer every comment in the future But I want you to know that your messages mean the world to me!! I love all your support and interest in my work. It's truly all of you who inspire me to do what I do and I deeply appreciate every single message. You guys are awesome!
I will of course always answer my notes and write comments to works made from my stock.
Because of my school it has also been difficult to find time to make new stocks the last couple of months, and when I finally had the time it was always bad weather!
But now spring is here and I finall
Feature my Favorite Avatar cosplayers in dAJust back from Armadeggon, I saw so many amazing cosplays that made me excited.Feature my Favorite Avatar cosplayers in dA2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I love cosplay for quite some time, I think cosplay is also a kind of fanart in a more realistic from.
I always feel that cosplay deserve more attention and favorite in dA,
So here I'd like to feature some of my personal favorite Avatar cosplayers with their best cos photos.
I know there are lots of amazing Avatar cosplay out there, but I can't collect them all.
The cosplayers I featured here should have their own dA account and have at least 3 pieces photoshots of the chatarcter in their gallery. I love their works not only because they represent the appearance well, but also I saw the spirit of the characters.
More than welcome to check their homepage by click their icon/Avatar.
So here we go!!~

Comic-Con How-To: How to Better Understand the Sociology Behind Cosplay
Thursday, 12:00 - 1:00 PM, Room 2 Upper Level
Cosplay is a loved hobby by many, but what is it about cosplay that attracts us? What is cosplay culture like? What is the proper etiquette as it relates to photographing cosplayers and socializing with convention attendees? Have all your questions about cosplay answered by veteran costume designer and cosplayer Yaya Han (yayacosplay).
For the past 11 years, yayacosplay has been creating full costumes and fashion pieces in the United States, and what began as a passionate hobby has evolved into a loving craft and career. Check out her work and make room for this informative panel!

Let us tell you our real names, it'll be much easier. The girl who cosplays Lelouch is Anna, the girl who cosplays Millenium Earl and Melisandre is Kate. Kate took the Lelouch photos of Anna and Anna made photos of Kate's cosplays below. No one of us is calling herself a photographer. We're just cosplayers who really love taking photos. We TOTALLY think that EVERY cosplayer can take some decent photos. You must not be a photographer for this task!
When we first started with cosplay (it was 2008), there was no photographer with a single-lens reflex camera around us. We knew a very few cosplayers and we only had a really small camera (everyone has this kind of a camera at home).
We've thought - hey, we're two people, let's just take photos of each other! We're not photographers, but we still want to try it out!
After some time both of us noticed that most of the cosplayer's photos are take
