I should’ve updated my last journal right away when I found out that Aonuma was just trolling with the whole “was that really Link or not?” comment... On one side I’ve been getting inundated with people pointing out how “wrong” I was in the journal (despite the journal clearly coming out BEFORE he clarified his statement), and on the other side maintaining the concept that maybe it wasn’t Link has kept some fans a little TOO hopeful for the idea of a female Link or even that maybe it was him and Zelda’s daughter.
Sorry guys, but that actually WAS Link. I’m pretty disappointed in that, honestly, but I gotta try to be positive and not let this one set back discourage me. On the bright side so many people were “trending” about how much they’d love to see a female Link, that I think Nintendo finally took notice and realized it’s not just a deviant fan fantasy.

Things I Wish Comics Would Stop DoingLater this week SYAC will be posting a series of “Things I Wish Comics Would Stop Doing” strips. This is the start of what might be an ongoing series within SYAC in general, though it really depends on how well it goes over...Things I Wish Comics Would Stop Doing1 year ago in Personal More Like This
In the past I’ve drawn my own artwork to explain things, but that’s always resulted in people accusing me of not knowing what I’m talking about and demanding actual sources. I don’t like the idea of using actual sources because my criticism of these techniques could easily be misinterpreted as criticism against specific artists, which is entirely the wrong idea. A lot of the time, these are pervasive techniques used throughout the mainstream (American) comic industry and are not the fault of any one particular artist. It’s more of a condemnation of perpetuating “bad habits” than anything else.
As a result, this new batch of “Things I Wish Comics Would Stop Doing” strips will feature actual artwork
Korrasami is Canon: ConfirmedAvatar series creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino both confirmed today via their personal blogs that Avatar Korra and Asami are actually a romantic bisexual couple.Korrasami is Canon: Confirmed5 months ago in Personal More Like This
I’ve taken a lot of heat over the past couple of days for celebrating the ending as being very progressive. A lot of people seemed quite adamant that Korra and Asami were just good friends and there was nothing romantically intentional about the ending at all. Some even going so far to say that my comment about the bi-sexual flag colored mountains was “reading too much into it.”
But y’all can suck it now! Cuz it’s CONFIRMED!
And if you’re just being lazy and don’t wanna read those excellently written blog posts, here’s a couple choice snippets:

Don't worry about your age. Do not get discouraged by those that are younger than you and better. Some people start art when they are 6 years old and are prodigy's at age 16, others make a rather late or slow start. It doesn't matter if you're 10 or 80 years old. You're never too old to learn something new, and you're never too old to do something you enjoy.
Everybody has potential. Even the greatest masters in art started out as beginners. It just takes a lot of time and persistence.
Don't be afraid to fail. Most masters have failed more times than any beginner even tried.
We only see the best from other people, and compare it with our own average. For every amazing painting a good artist puts online, he probably made 100 failed sketches. Sketches you'll never see and you'll never know o

It feels nice to be able to express yourself through something you make and when that something turns out to be looking good we get this sense of accomplishment.
Most of the time though there are bad feelings mixed with the good ones.
Not being understood. Those moments where your friends or family does not understand that you have to desire to be alone and work on your art. Those copious amounts of hours you spend working and they wonder why you wouldn't rather be outside relaxing in the sun or hang out with your friends.
The only people who will ever fully understand this are other artists or simply very understandable people. It's important they they will eventually understand so there wont be any hurt feelings. Try to explain ti as calmly and rational as you can, perhaps with using examples in terms they would understand.
Fast lane to becoming a better artist.I often get this very question: How did you get this good this fast?Fast lane to becoming a better artist.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Now as I consider myself not being as good as people tell me, even struggling quite often with being an artist in general.
I do know how to get better and how to reach it fast. I'm still growing as I go and it's the main thing that keeps me going.
You need to get into the right mindset and the rest will follow. With the rest I mean:
3. Positive energy.
4. The NEED to draw.
Seeing growth in your work gives you the courage to work harder. You know that feeling when you're just about done with an image
and feel like this image is better than your last one, that great feeling. Use it!
Do studies! Lots of them!! Make film shot studies, live object studies, master-painting studies. They will teach you a lot about composition, lighting, colors, shapes storytelling etc.
You will hardly notice that you are learning thing

Zawsze działaliśmy razem i tworzyliśmy zgrany zespół.
Being a concept artist #2Being a concept artist #2: you don't need to attend art school to be a concept artistBeing a concept artist #210 months ago in Personal More Like This
A very popular question among those who aspire to become concept artists: do I need to attend art school? Traditional art schools are usually very expensive, take at least 3 years, and leave a lot of students in debt. So...is it worth it?
Portfolio is more important than education
In my opinion (as well as a number of working artists on the internet), you don't need to attend art school in order to become a concept artist. Your art just have to be good enough for people to hire you. Companies and clients usually value an artist by the quality of their portfolio, not which school they graduated from.
You can graduate from an art school with a mediocre portfolio, or you can self-teach and have an amazing portfolio!
The benefits of art school is mostly not ART
Of course there are benefits of attending art school. I think it is especially suitable for those who need some ex

Ubisoft apologized for a lack of diversity in their games. They then vowed to try and diversify for future games. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/135500-Ubisoft-CEO-Says-Company-Will-Work-to-Extend-Diversity
See guys? THIS is when all that “social justice warrioring” bullshit pays off. Yes it’s kinda annoying that everyone was bitching about Ubisoft (myself included) for the past week or so... but guess what? All that bitching actually ACHIEVED something! Companies take their reputations very seriously, and noticing that they were getting a lot of shitty press means they’ll work very hard towards turning that around because no company likes to be known as the worse of anything (with the possible exception of EA).
This is also the sort of thing that I think raising a hissy fit on the internet actually works. A lot of people like to say “let the m

Sell yourself.. but not undersellFound this on tumblr..... and I find it incredibly relevant. Especially since I've been preaching that subject to a few others recently, myself. Though this illustrates it perfectly.Sell yourself.. but not undersell1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I also find it amusing and painfully true, at the mention of the 'DeviantArt mentality'.
If you are looking to make honest money with honest, art/writing work.. don't undersell yourself just because some kids that only get an allowance from their parents think its too much. (And don't get me wrong. I was that myself for a long while. Your perception of money's worth changes -allot- as you grow up though.. so don't tell someone something isnt worth it just because you see something like 100$ as allot.. it is to a younger person with no bills. To me though? that's not even 1/4th of my monthly car payment.. )
Most people trying to make decent money by putting more than decent effort into their work have grownup stuff to pay for.. And better ways to make money than wasting time for even less.
of course that me
1000 anatomy sketches challengeHello and happy holidays everyone!1000 anatomy sketches challenge5 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Since the new year is approaching rapidly, and my mind was on new years resolutions, i thought up a challenge for myself to improve my anatomy. And it would be boring to do it alone so i invite you all to join me.
Here's how the challenge goes:
1. The goal is to reach 1000 anatomy related drawings as fast as possible. There is no deadline.
2. You don't have to start in 2015, you can start now.
3. Comment on this journal with a link to the drawings you made for this challenge. I will keep an eye on this journal and if you comment anywhere else i might not find your comment. Don't link me in a reply though, my reply stack is chaos, you wouldn't want your comment to get mixed up there. I will check new comments every now and then and award points but i won't look through conversations. So if you finished a sketch or a bunch of sketches then come to this journal and write a new comment every time
4. The drawings can be posted anyw

Just some basic tips and tricks for flawless interaction on DeviantArt
Watch people when you honestly find them interesting.
Watch your friends, even if they don't have amazing art. It helps you stay updated with their progress.
Watch groups. They'll offer you a fine selection of art you're interested in, and will help you discover new (interesting) artists.
Check the faves of people you watch. As you like their work, you might have similar tastes in art. Checking their faves might help you find cool art.
Recommend art from people that you watch for a Daily Deviation (if good art, of course).
Uncheck all boxes when watching. There's nothing more disappointing than an empty watch.
Ubisoft Bullshit, Nintendo Wins, Link is a girlNow that the E3 dust has started to settle we can focus on some of the stuff that happened earlier this week in more detail.Ubisoft Bullshit, Nintendo Wins, Link is a girl1 year ago in Personal More Like This
When asked about why there was no female playable assassin in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, Ubisoft made the bad decision to try and justify it. They said that a female assassin was planned, but that they didn’t have the resources to implement it because it would’ve require too much extra work and “business is business” after all.
I call bullshit on that. It’s been well known that adding a female character to a game doesn’t increase the budget much (if at all), and many of the same animations and actions can be applied to both male and female characters. Even Jim Sterling addressed this issue (2 years ago) by asking people in the industry how “hard” it is to add female character models and the answer is... not hard at all really:
Womens Rights againHonestly Tired of itWomens Rights again1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I’m honestly sick and tired of making comics or journals or whatever about women’s rights. But it seems like every week there’s a new story about how some asshole guy makes some sort or sexist remark, or how women are being excluded from some place, or killed in others... I’m so sick and tired of it all. I wish I didn’t have to talk about it all the time because I think “women’s rights” are really just part of having “common sense,” but apparently the rest of geek/gaming culture doesn’t think that way.
I was going to make a couple of comics for SYAC elaborating on these recent issues, but I just don’t feel like it anymore. I don’t want SYAC to become a preach-wagon for Women’s Right’s issues more than they already have. So instead I’m bringing you the rundown in this journal instead of making more comics about them.
Tips for Starting Commissions I was thinking about my last journal, where I asked why everyone and their cat wanted to sell commissions so badly. I recieved some really insightful answers.Tips for Starting Commissions1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I also had a lot of people asking me "How much should I charge for my work?"
I'll add a Disclaimer right here in front, as for whatever reason, something always offends someone :iconstunplz: . So I'll start off by saying, this is just my personal journal, and I'm just one person who has some experience with this. I'm not making a judgment on who should sell what, just writing some things I have personally learned along the way.
Well that's out of the way :iconyodawgplz:
So most artists starting off go through a period of confusion on how to price work. They get a lot of suggestions, or theories from well-meaning people such as:
"Artists always undervalue themselves. Don't charge less than minimum wage per hour"
This is true, and I agree. However, unfortunately,
A big black hole called: Procrastination.Procrastination is an infinite cycle that becomes bigger and bigger the longer it's there and the time wasted being sucked into it is a dark matter of nothing.A big black hole called: Procrastination.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
hahah I figured this was the most dramatic way to put it, but yeah, it's real and it sucks.
For those who don't know what it means: Procrastination is the practice of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones, or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus putting off impending tasks to a later time, sometimes to the "last minute" before the deadline.
We all suffer from procrastination. It is pretty innocent when you have it with household chores or packing your suitcase before you go on a holiday.
But it becomes a serious problem when you do it with the important things in your life. I take it you're an artist if you're reading this and the biggest aim of being an artist is to be an even better one.
As shown in previous journals there are many

if teasers for projects can get people to fund it... what aout the full thing?
i don't do crowdfunding. i make comics.
i publish comics. if people love and buy my comics... i get to make more comics.
so with that in mind. i will post the entirety of death vigil here.
from there on it's in the hands of the readers. if you want to support the book being made, i will post the comixology links, and image digital links, as well as trade preorder links.
so if you feel this is your kind of comic, and it's something you want to see made in it'y entirety..and can afford to support it by buying it...thank you.
if not, i still hope you like it. so with no further a do... this week i will be uploading issues.
