"It's your first day, isn't it?"
"Yes. Ah, actually, I'm just an intern. I'm supposed to be working with Dr. Simonetti."
"Simonetti? He's on the second floor. Just take those stairs, then follow the hall to room 216. The door says 'Director of Genetic Integrity', you can't miss it."
"Thanks! I'd better hurry, I'm almost late."
Paul tramped up the stairs, plastic soles announcing his hurry to everyone in the echoing, cold-walled office. The second floor had a carpet, thank the Presidency, and he was at 216 before he had time to process it. He wiped the sweat from his hands and knocked.
"Come on in."
Simonetti, a large man in a brown-mustard suit, looked up from behind the desk. He rose, shook Paul's hand; his grip engulfed Paul's slim fingers, wrapped around his whole palm. "The new intern, right? Great to have you, great. Always glad to see youngsters take an interest in their government. So many people are happy to just let us work that they forget there's no 'us' and 'them', you know

Caramel was running through the street in his neighborhood in Manehattan not paying attention to where he was going. The young colt was having too much fun tossing his ball into the air and bouncing it off of his nose to notice, and he certainly did not notice when he ran right into a filly. A filly he would meet again years later.
"Whoa," yelped the orange filly.
"Oh I'm sorry," Caramel said quickly forgetting his ball being worried for the filly he ran into. He knelt over and helped her back to her hooves. When he saw her, he was stunned by how pretty she was. Her hair was a bit exaggerated but she had the most beautiful and honest green eyes he ever saw. All he could was stare.
"Oh don't ya'll worry none," Applejack said. 'Shoot say it right,' she scolded herself. "I mean," She said quietly, "That is quite alright. Accidents do happen you know." She gave him a warm smile.
Caramel shook his head, "Why are you talking differently?"

"Finally out of your coma are you?" Sebastian Moran said nonchalantly, not turning to face his boss, who was standing in the doorway, looking much more ruffled than his normal Westwood look. He was wearing a pair of loose sweatpants and a wife-beater, a purple silk dressing gown half hanging off of him.
"Yes mum, I'm fine thank you." Jim said mockingly, walking over to the fridge and pulling out a carton of orange juice, drinking straight from the container. He leaned against the counter, watching the sniper as he continued to work with a creamy substance in the bowl in front of him. He stared at it, as though it was some foreign substance that was going to come to life and attack them both.
Seb noticed Jim's eyes on him and glanced over, not stopping his use of the metal whisk he'd been employing. He snorted. "It's not going to bite you you know."
"Ha ha." Jim sneered. "What is it?"
"Yes Jim, it's the sugary paste that people put on ba

Dear Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg,
I am writing to you today to discuss an issue which, speaking on behalf of the British public, many find bothersome. I am, of course, referring to the deficit. Now, I am fully aware of the fact that you must have already received hundreds, if not thousands of letters from people nationwide expressing concern about the tremendous debt our country faces. However, I urge you not to discard this letter, as this letter contains a valuable thing, something I doubt you will find in the majority of the other letters you receive: a solution.

We think we're strong.
We think we're immortal.
We are not.
Today, Friday, February 10, I learned that a close friend of mine from Middle School killed himself. He jumped from the third story of my school to his immediate death. I went to lunch, like any other day and saw a massive crowd in my usual hang-out area.
"Another fight, jeez," I muttered as I passed through the crowd. As I progressed, another friend of mine came out in tears, obviously having seen the body. She informed me of the jump, but was unaware of who he was.
I turned around, to avoid seeing the body. Despite my physical desire to avoid it, some little part of me thought I should see it. I thought I needed to see it. That it was important I see this. I thought to myself "Well, what happened? I mean what REALLY happened?" I went to Walgreens to take my mind off it.
Coming back to school with a Coke and a box of "sweethearts" (those chalky crap valentine's candies sold this time of ye

"Yeah, and butter. A regualar sea food plater."
Odd fired his first arrow, then dived as the crab shot back, missing the arrow by inches. "Can we eat, then?" The cat boy called back, as one of the crabs suddenly became covered with pin

She had friends, and a passion, and was truly Great and Powerful, in all the ways that mattered!

She had known that this day would someday come.
Her fate had been sealed, on the same day that her mother's fate ended.

At a glance, it appeared little had changed in the appearance of the group in the twenty minutes since Princess Luna had finished relating Twilight's mishap from the night before. However, closer inspection would reveal an empty plate that once held a sandwich in front of Big Macintosh and bowls of salad ranging from partially eaten to just a few leaves remaining at Fluttershy, Rarity, and Luna's places. As for the others, they had opted for refills for their glasses of water, except for Pinkie, whose face remained submerged in her bowl. Twilight was convinced that the pink pony was somehow breathing through her ears.
"So who wants to go next and tell us their side of what happened last night?" Twilight asked.

Are you a spy?
The sun shined through the window, filling the little chamber with warm, playful colors. A distant bird was chirping happily, announcing the beginning of spring as the wind kindly caressed the tiny new-born leaves that were decorating the old apple trees.
The blue pegasus lazily opened her eyes, slowly looking around the room. The wooden walls reflected the orange light of the sunrise, as if they were quietly chanting to the rhythm of the clouds, slowly waking up along with the entire farm. A table with a small mirror was resting in a corner, along with a chair and a simple red chest. Rainbow looked at the white, transparent curtains that were swinging slowly, embracing the gentle breeze, as her gaze fell upon the orange pony that was lying next to her, still asleep.
She's so beautiful...

Rarity inhaled deeply, letting the pleasant aroma of her drink fill her nostrils. The snifter glass gently shifted about, buoyed by her magical aura, and its burgundy contents swirled along the transparent walls. She tipped the glass to her lips, gracefully sipping its contents in a way that only years of cultured drinking could imbue. A satisfied smile crossed her lips as the cognac warmed her throat as it drained to her stomach. She was almost finished with her third glass of the night, which would put her just at her tolerance level for this particular beverage; such a shame that her friends didn't know their own tolerances.
At that thought, she looked about the bar from her seat in the corner booth. While she wasn't the type to normally socialize in such establishments, this bar was cultured enough for her tastes, being well designed, well built, and having a satisfactory selection of
