Palette Challenge!!!! Edit: 13 Entries!!!What this is about? Well... it is an art challenge for those who like a challenge, trying something new or just do something they usually won't.Palette Challenge!!!! Edit: 13 Entries!!!3 months ago in Personal More Like This
The theme is... create a piece of visual art, be it digital, 3D or traditional, with ONLY the given five colours. You can of course mix them in any way you like.
Black and white are not allowed, which is part of the challenge.
Here are the colours:
A pale yellow, orange, pinkish purple, blue and a dark violet.
OF COURSE YOU MAY MIX THE COLOURS AND DO TRANSITIONS AND WHATNOT!!!!
I know... difficult colours. That is the point of the challenge. So far I myself have no idea what I will come up with!
When you work traditionally, with what medium soever, try to stick to colours as close as possible to the given ones. It is all about creating something with a VERY limited palette. I will try that myself too.
If you think you can manage a literature piece conveying those colours somehow... feel free to enter too! I would be v
Happy Birthday, Jim Henson Today, in 1936,Happy Birthday, Jim Henson2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
James Maury Henson was born. He is famously know as Jim Henson by the rest of the world. This man was a major influence on me very early on. I grew up, like millions of children, on Muppets and Sesame Street. I remember seeing "The Jim Henson hour", which always ended with "The Storyteller". I was held captive by "Hans my Hegehog", "Fearnot", "The Heartless Giant" and other stories shown there. And I remembered when n he died, a remarkable thing for a girl who couldn't even spell her own name at that point. Jim Henson was god to me then, I KNEW who he was. So, to celebrate this wonderful introvert, here is art I found searching for his name.
After the dreamWell. The museum exhibit ended on Sunday, and I went to pick up my paintings today. My thoughts are very full right now about the experience. After the dream1 week ago in Personal More Like This
For those that don't know, I was fortunate to be chosen as one of the artists exhibited at the Springville Museum of Art, for their exhibit on religious and spiritual art in Utah. A friend of mine found out about the exhibit and pushed me to enter, and so I did and was honestly surprised to be chosen. I am an atheist, and my take on spiritual subjects comes from the viewpoint of a nonbeliever, using metaphores to handle complicated subjects. I wasn't sure if they'd like that at all.
The day I got the email that I got in, I literally screamed. I flailed, I jumped out of my chair and danced. I called all of my loved ones and squeeled to them. For me this was the culmination of the ultimate dream. You see, when I was in art school, illustration was a dirty word. They always said, you'll know if you've made it when you are in a museum. Not a gallery,

Just the lighting effect to go now. I've done all the soldering and it works, and my brother's invented a groovy little switch that'll make the whole thing work when I do the Saarebas hand-wave.
Next post of this will be the proper photoshoot pics. Just waiting for Polly to get her camera back from Canada.

So, I guess my plan had some minor flaws. Namely that when you tie up deviantART staff with yarn and lock them in their office supply closet, they can use scissors and letter openers to break free. I even put a mirror on the inside of the door to confuse them! How did they know that was the way out? They're some smart humans.
They broke free, activated their laser pointers, and regained control of the servers and databases while we were dreadfully distracted. Now, everything is back to normal on deviantART. Worst of all, they said we "were very, very bad" and that they were "disappointed in us". That guilt is hard to live with, my friends.
We're back to drawing board now. No, we won't give up hope of total world domination. We're so close, I can feel it! Watch out, world! This isn't the last you'll see of FUR.
But world domination will have to wait until another day. Who's ready for a cat nap?

I can't tell you everything, but it's the culmination of a dream many of us thought would never happen. It involves 3D animation by some of the best people in film and video, incredible action and adventure and one smart-talking green cat.
It's a video game.
It's a Bizenghast video game.
It's a Bizenghast video game in a fully 3D world.
And I'm going to play the voice of Dinah.
Told you that you should have sat down.
Stay tuned, because on Valentine's Day, the town of Bizenghast is about to get a little bit stranger...and a whole lot bigger.
Away With Thee, Mental IllnessOh, hai. So I'm gonna talk about something totally personal to me, yet something that's shared by millions of people every day. And I NEVER talk about this stuff. For the first time in seven years I've only just managed to talk about it to someone and it felt good, and after that I was able to tell someone else, which also felt good, so now I'm gonna tell all y'all.Away With Thee, Mental Illness1 year ago in Personal More Like This
(Please note that this isn't a cry for attention or sympathy. I'm just sharing my story with the kindling hope that it might help or comfort people who suffer in a similar way).
When I was seventeen I inexplicably developed a case of social anxiety. I don't know much about the hows or whys but I can tell you this: it totally messed me up. Back then I was in college (all you Americans call it High School) and although I had some awesome friends, some days I couldn't bring myself to leave the house much less go on crazy social adventures out of hours.
Schooling was an issue. I missed so mainly classes. Sometimes I'd be off fo
A Little Fursuit Cost PerspectiveWHY OUR COSTUMES ARE "EXPENSIVE"A Little Fursuit Cost Perspective1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I posted this info over on Tumblr, and thought others might find it interesting!
Someone just sent me a note that read:
"Seeing all the materials you guys use for your fursuits, I can really see why they're so pricey. "
Thanks for noticing! We are asked to justify our prices pretty often, or even accused of charging too much, but I think a lot of people just do not realize that there is A LOT of expense (and not just in materials), and a TON of time that goes into making each suit. And sure, lots of people plug in features to our price calculator and come out with a $3000-$7000 figure, and must be imagining us sitting around in bathtubs full of cash. Truth is, we don't make a whole lot of profit - where does it all go?
First, consumable materials. These are items that need to be bought new for each and every suit because they get completely used up in the process. This includes casting resins, sheet plastics, foam, polyfill, paint, elastic

OMG the 3D printer is gonna sculpt everything..notWell some of you probably know by now that I've invested in a 3D printer and some of the "old school" prop makers are going crazy and some are being defensive of the old school ways of doing things and accusing me of cheating or something by not doing every thing by hand. LOL I just find it all very amusing. Before I made the decision to buy such a "wonderful machine" that seems to solve a lot of my time problems, I've actually read a lot into it and finding out its limitations such as it not being able to respond to my voice commands like JARVIS and produce an Iron Man suit and paint it while I attend some luxurious gala dinner event and have it ready to fly supersonic morning time to Afghanistan and take out some terrorist. To my surprise that the machine actually can't even print correctly if the bed plate is about 1mm warped.OMG the 3D printer is gonna sculpt everything..not1 year ago in Personal More Like This
First of all there are a lot of misunderstanding about the 3D rapid prototyping technology which actually existed over 30 years ago for the manufacturing indu
Propmakers make Magic not Miracles.I've been watching Face Off , you know the show about making special fx challenges, costume and prosthetics for prizes, and there are a lot of things they don't show or tell you. There are even somethings that elude me and I've probably watched more bonus features, special FX dvds than most people. I've had people emailed me about some tips about the latex prosthetics and they thought they can just buy a gallon of latex drop it into a mold and then outcomes a puffy sponge like thing that fits over the face perfectly. Well for one thing the stuff they are using is Foamed Latex which is about 6 different ingredients mixed up in a specific order and then injected into a sealed mold, then baked at a high degree giant walk in oven for X# hours or more. That show don't tell you or show you anything about running foam latex and how it releases toxic gasses during the mixing and curing process. And also how long it takes to make those molds and how you should use mold release (bonusPropmakers make Magic not Miracles.2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Gay hate at Wal*MartLet me start off with saying, Wal*Mart could not control anything that has happened in the last few days.Gay hate at Wal*Mart3 years ago in Personal More Like This
One day this week I went to work at Wal*Mart and there were a group of people holding signs at one of the entrances in protest of gay marriage. One of them read "Marriage is between 2 people. 1 man+ 1 woman" I was terribly offended by this and reported it to management, in hope we could have them removed or something. Turns out we can not legally ask them to leave unless if they harass people by following them or not leaving them alone. So I decided to do the next best thing and grabbed my notebook and a pen and ran outside to make my own sign. I had thirty minutes till my shift started, why not give these folks a run for their money, eh? So I wrote in my notebook "Marriage is between 2 people! Gender means nothing!"
I was very nervous since I had no idea how to behave when around large masses of people. (I work in the back of Wal*Mart where we hardly see anyone but fellow crew mat
Exciting news! So, my Tshirt design (Sherlock's Mind Palace), is about two votes away from being to most popular shirt of all time on Qwertee. Okay screw that I checked it while I was writing this journal and it is now the most popular tee of all time. Anyway, I first checked it about an hour ago and there was a comment from the admin saying that they would put a poll out on the Qwertee Facebook page asking what color people would like it best on and that they would make it happen. I am shrieking.Exciting news!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
