About the costume: This was my first major cosplay outfit I ever made. It was also my first leather project. I am so happy with the way it turned out.
The corset, tassets, chest strap, shin guards, gauntlets, shoulder piece and hairpiece were all made from leather. I cut out and hand tooled 56 feathers. The ones on the upper layers are riveted and the ones on the bottom row are glued with a leather glue. The corset was wet formed on a mannequin and the shin guards were two pieces sewn together and then wet formed. I did some slight wet forming on all the pieces, but not much. Instead of cutting a curved strap, the chest strap was a straight piece that was curved slightly by wetting it and then bending it into place. I used leather dye for the browns and blacks and acrylic paints for the grays, pinks and golds. I also hand dyed with fabric dye the feathers on the back of the costume.
The bodysuit and tabi were modified from zentai outfit I bought to save on time. I am glad I did this, it worked really well. I hand sewed the fishnet neck which I destroyed a pair of stockings for.
The swords and sheaths are those plastic kids katanas you can buy anywhere. The grip and sheath were wrapped in leather and painted with acrylics. The hilt is molded from sculpey and details were added with pieces of foam sheets. The blade was spray painted with a metallic silver.
The wig.....this was my first wig. It was way more complicated than I ever imagined. The wefts worked wonderfully, but the wig was styled the morning of. I plan on replacing this wig in the future, but it worked out well enough for the weekend.
I had lots of help and advice from my two pals:
All costumes were made by the individual wearing them! Photo (c) Jayce Williams/AnimazeGuy [link]
This is part of our SCV cosplay group. Yesterday we attended Expomanga and it was such a wonderful experience. I'm so glad we could make this, gather a lot of fantastic, nice and hard-working cosplayers for this purpose. We were all so excited!! Here you can watch our performance: [link] We won the third prize!!!
Sometimes as a cosplayer you work so hard on a costume, become caught up in the process, and wear it for a quick weekend convention meanwhile doubting yourself and your abilities. You forget to step back and truly admire what you've created. This shot has reminded me that sometimes I need to do just that!
Had an amazing time Sunday of Sakura-Con this year with a photographer who on the fly asked for a few shots. Was fun, really polite, and overall great to work with

Made to go with the Soul Calibur group to the Expomanga 2012 in Madrid. We won 3rd prize group category in the cosplay contest Here is our skit: [link] I`m very proud of this group, they are all wonderful cosplayers and were all stunning! We were 13 people cosplaying characters from Soul Calibur V videogame and I had the luck of being part of this project with some of my friends and new pals I had the chance to know better. I had a great time and was very comfortable with this cosplay, except from the shoes, they were very thight! This costume took 1 month and a half to make, I only worked about 2 hours per day on it, due to my job. I had a lot of problems with the sleeves pattern and my sewing machine and I'm not very satisfied with how the whole costume turned out, there are some parts that should be repeated but I don't think I'll redo them. The materials used for the sewed parts of this costume are: foam, lycra, silk and satin. For the chest part I hand painted the flowers using a stencil technique, I made a tutorial on how I made it here: [link] It may be useful for someone! As for the shoes I bought a pair of green shoes and painted them with spray paint, then drew the symbols with edding and made the flowers with foamy. The wig: I had a lot of problems with it because I bought a cheap one in a drugstore and wanted to make a parted wig...I made 3 tries and sew wefts but it didn't look good with all my hair in it (I have thick butt lenght hair), so i had to cut the wig and stick the braids on it, it was a lot easier, very comfortable to wear and it doesn't move ^.^ I made the flowers with foamy too. The sword is made of wood and painted with spray paint, It is not finished 100% because I didn't have time. For the socks and the chinese decoration hanging from the costume, I died a pair of socks and a string, and hand made the chinese knots following a youtube tutorial.
Hi guys, this is my latest costume.I work during 5 long and hard months on Hilde. Why Hilde? She is from far my favourite character from Soulcalibur! First, I was in love with her IV outfit, but when the soulcalibur V was released, I found this one particulary interesting.
As I won at Paris cosplay a sewing machine, I wanted to give a try to this version for use the gift and make other thing than full armor. It was very interesting to sew, to dye fabric and fur, to create patterns myself. I spend more time on the fabric parts than the armor itself.
I made myself the purple jacket with " matelassé" aspect. All is hand made, the chain mail, the helmet with the removing part on the top, the eperons, the belts...I dye the wig too in order to have the good " red/auburn".
The flag was the hardest part with the little red skit and the helmet.
5 months ago, I meet Laura, who worked on Hilde too, we shared lot of things thank to Hilde ^^ I was really happy to find someone who made Hilde in the same time. I finally meet Laura during Japan expo, and she was really kind and funny! Have a look on her gallery please :
During the con the weather was very very hot, it was hard to wear Hilde's outfit, but I was at ease on stage ^^ I was however very very tired and my face show how I was close to faint è_è
This is the link of my skit, sadly because of the light, no one saw my fighting pose at the beginning.
