Shit Cosplayers SayJust in time to write my last image journal entry before the day as a subscriber ends (LIKE TODAY)Shit Cosplayers Say3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Kanasaiii and I had became fans of Shit Girls Say when it debuted, since then, it turned into this giant internet meme where people made countless videos that label 'Shit ______ Say'.
So as cosplayers, we decided to contribute one: Shit Cosplayers Say
We have more content but ran out of time, these were everything filmed in one day. Our gifted actress was very game on everything we asked her to, including looking ugly and changing her clothes for each scene.
Please leave a comment to share your cosplayer experiences over at the video. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making!

The Avengers - ReviewHonestly I don't have much to say other than it's just really awesome. You don't need to have seen Captain America, Iron Man 1 and 2, The Hulk, or Thor to understand what's going on, but it most certainly does help. The Avengers - Review3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The Avengers is probably one of the most epic movies I have seen since the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Harry Potter. It's up there. It's not perfect, and some moments seem to drag on a bit (mostly around the middle), but every key moment is accentuated properly, every line delivered in such a way that you don't miss out on what's going on, every action scene composed in a way you aren't confused, and overall the whole thing is just a joy to watch.
What's really fun about this movie is that they don't hold back. Ever. Everything you want to see in a movie about the Avengers is pretty much up on this screen. You wanna see Thor and Iron Man duke it out? You got it! You wanna see an army of aliens attacking a city? Got it. You wanna see Tony Stark deliver hilarious banter aga

Cosplay Photoshoot EtiquetteMy good friend hikaraseru has written a very good guide on how a standard cosplay photoshoot should be conducted in a conducive manner. Want to plan a cosplay shoot, but somehow things just don't turn out right? Maybe the photos were not how you visualised them, or that the photographer seemed to be extra grumpy, or you just don't know what's going on? Read on for how to get the best out of your cosplay shoot:
The 4 Ps:
Having a plan is essential and should take up the most time overall in your shoot. Speak to the photographers closely, because they will be the ones producing the photos that will be the end result; make sure they are aware of the concept and background of the series you're shooting. Some photographers will want to do their own research prior to the shoot (reading the manga/watching the anime/looking up reference photos) - so make sur
Style, style, STYLE, oh, THE styleWhat do you think about it? In terms of drawing. Is it important to have one of your own? Is it necessary to constantly seek it?Style, style, STYLE, oh, THE style3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've seen people troubled by not having constant style, people thinking their style is not original enough, people making a bold line between their two styles, people trying to get rid of one style...
My humble opinion on this is that you should stop wasting your energy on torturing yourself and just draw. Draw whatever you feel like.
Unless you're being paid for certain style but that's not what I want to talk about now.
What I want to talk about are all those personal pictures you do for self-improvement or supposedly for fun. "Supposedly" because if your main purpose is "fun" I don't get why you should worry yourself with "omg is this style all right what will my watchers say?"
Well, your watchers will get pretty bored if all in your gallery look the same. And also, there's not much space for improvement. Talking from my own experience, I was totally charm
2011 Europe tripThis took forever but I'm finally getting down to blogging about it! I've been looking for someone to tour Europe with, but unfortunately schedules are hard to match and money doesn't come by easy. Been wanting to visit Europe for the longest time, and last year I thought, if I don't go now, I may never have the chance to go. So I made up my mind to recce on my own, and in two weeks I was off on a plane! I didn't plan to go overseas for my graduation trip, so I shall reflect and relive last year in place of that XD2011 Europe trip3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Thoughts like "what the heck am I doing" did occur to me on the plane, but they were quickly taken over by the fear and excitement of exploring unknown lands 8D Since I was flying alone, next to me sat a Chinese lady who was working in Rome. We got to know each other a little better over the 13-hour flight, and she very kindly offered to drive me from the airport to my hostel ;v; I'm forever grateful towards her, as she made me feel safe and comfortable from the very start o

looking back to about a year ago i had doodled a very rough sketch in my sketch book of a girl walking an octopus. and when i say rough i mean rough. the sketch itself was nothing more than a study of contrasting silhouettes. i was drawn to the play between a very rigid character and a squiggly one.
i had forgotten about that sketch until i heard about a steampunk t-shirt design for www.welovefine.com. i thought that this design might have a chance so i went ahead and finished it off. well it got alot of attention and i am happy to say that it won the competition. the shirt started to sell
Nintendo’s MiiversePrior to E3 starting up, Nintendo has done something unusual for them... they've given us more information about the Wii-U before their press conference! Specifically they've gone over the online capabilities of the Wii-U and how social networking works with it.Nintendo’s Miiverse3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Nintendo showcased a video of a guy struggling to beat a Zombie boss. He uses the Wii-U Game Pad to look up other users who have had trouble with it. He even posts a note saying he's stuck. His friend sees the note on his mobile device and calls him, but instead he decides to contact another Wii-U user using the built in camera to communicate with video. He talks to an elderly grandpa who tells him how to beat the Zombie boss and instantly he goes right back into the game and succeeds.
Cheesy though it was, it showcased a number of cool features. The first of course being the fact there will be message boards surrounding specific games which you can communicate on, share screen shots, post questions and answers, etc. The second
BRAVE was... ok.Saw Brave the other night. I had deliberately kept all info about this movie away from me so that I could go in with a fresh viewpoint. There might be spoilers here, so if you haven't seen the movie tread carefully through this journal. To be honest, I don't really want to talk about the movie all that much, but more or less the public perception of this movie.BRAVE was... ok.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Brave was quite good, but I have a feeling it's not gonna have the impact so many people were expecting it to. Prior to the release, the fact that this was a PIXAR princess story with a female lead was SUCH a huge deal to some people. I think there were some lofty expectations that this was going to trump Disney princess stories and show women as strong capable role models without resorting to typical cliches and what not...
I'm not sure if that's what PIXAR was going for, in fact, the biggest complaint being lobbied against Brave is that it's both "too safe" and "too conventionally Disney." Brave is a good movie, but it does fo
GraysLast week when I said that I wouldn't be doing con sketches of copyrighted characters, I had no idea that the news would get the coverage that it did. First off, I think that what happened regarding this issue highlighted the BEST of our industry. I'm thrilled with the results, although I don't find Marvel's statement reassuring (more on that later). When we learned that Marvel was pursuing the $17,000 from Friedrich, we came together as concerned professionals and fans and managed to affect the situation. Even though we disagreed, at least we weighed out the options. And we even came together to set up funding to help out Friedrich. With the use of Twitter, blogging, and proper action from the media outlets, w

It's technically the same as Dropbox, but offers much more space at an initial 15gb of cloud space FREE.
So click this https://copy.com?r=veqtNG and it'll take you through my referral to the page.
Why through my referral?
Because when you sign up you get 15GB cloud space free.
But through a referrer's link, once you verify your email and then download & install either the Copy app or program, like dropbox, we both get additional 5GB on top of that.
Now, that's fun and most important more space for free!
Then after that you can introduce it to all your friends for similar results and you can rack up tons of 5GB per referral.
In case you missed the link, click this https://copy.com?r=veqtNG

By the way, I have quite a number of users who registered BUT have not install the app/program on their phone or computer, that means it's not a full process, and you won't get t
Battleship (the movie)I didn't get to see Battleship in theaters, but I heard all the aftermath of it. The endless memes making fun of the fact they shoehorned in Aliens, the criticism that the aliens were just weird looking humans, the fact that it's based on a board game... I heard all of that before I saw the movie, and I anticipated that I was gonna hate it.Battleship (the movie)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But you know what? It's actually a lot of fun. The action is intense, the special effects are top notch, the acting isn't too corny or eye-rolling, and it pretty much delivers on everything that you'd expect a board game inspired movie would feature.
What I liked most was how the special effects were actually on display. It wasn't like Transformers where you can never tell what the eff is going on. While there are some odd camera zooms during the action, the action itself is always framed in such a way that you can tell what's going on at all times. I like action movies like that. I hate action movies that utilize shaky cams and rapid cutting to giv
Merry Christmas Zelda TIMELINE!Nintendo is celebrating Zelda's 25 year anniversary by releasing a Zelda encyclopedia/art book in Japan. From early reports and translations there's something rather unexpected in there... the much sought after Zelda Timeline.Merry Christmas Zelda TIMELINE!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Trying to figure out the Zelda timeline has been a geek pastime for decades, and it's only been made more desirable thanks to Nintendo releasing cryptic responses of both "yes we have one" to "no we don't" over the years. With the caveat that this might all be bunk because it's too early to tell just yet, here is how Nintendo sees the Zelda timeline: http://wii.ign.com/articles/121/1215301p1.html
First up you need to understand one thing... there IS a split in the timeline thanks to Ocarina of Time. Yes the split timeline theory IS correct... sort of. What you probably didn't know is that the split isn't into two alternate timelines resulting from the different endings... but actually THREE timelines. Let me explain...

That doesn't mean Ryssa's best friend doesn't like Ryssa or anything, its just that the best friend position isnt... her. Mmmm the story goes like this, so years ago Ryssa was best friends with her friend um... lets call her Mr.X, however after high school Ryssa and Mr.X went their separate ways. However recently they started hanging out again, only to realise my... um... ahem.. i mean Ryssa's best friend no longer view Ryssa as his best friend, he has got another friend thats on top of his list. What if your best friend's best friend isnt you?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sure, its normal for people to have their own list of friends im sure, and the list keeps changing. However Ryssa feels kinda sad about this eventhough its perfectly normal. Is this sadness and I guess even jealousy considered reasonable? Is Ryssa thinking too much?
Remember this is not about me, its about Ryssa and her friends issue. Umm yup :I

Now, I have a favor to ask of you guys. The unfortunate drawback to my work going viral is that a lot of people are posting it without credit. I typically don't care about whether I get credit or not, but as a freelance artist it's pretty important that my name be associated with my work, especially if it's getting as much exposure as this piece has. That said, if you peeps happen to see it posted somewhere without my name or a credit, would take a moment to politely request that the person posting give credit and, if possible, link to my webpage, www.kevinbolk.com?

Game of Thrones
I've been hearing so much about this series and how amazing it is. I know that the actor Peter Dinklage has received a number of awards for his performance. I also know that HBO tends to do really good series from time to time. So I had expectations that this was also going to be good.
First 5 minutes. Yeah it was good. Everything after that? Eehh...
Granted now, I've only seen the first episode, but honestly the first episode should really HOOK you into the series. Start off with a bang to get you psyched then spend the rest of the series building up the characters and making us care about them, ending with a great climax mak

I used to play this game called Capcom vs SNK on my Dreamcast and one of the character is Sakura, her cuteness and tomboyish look caught my attention. Why are we slower?About a month ago I finally got to meet an art hero of mine, Klaus Janson, a well known pro who's been in the industry for over 30 years. A mutual friend introduced us, and we hit it off right away. The group of us went through the Village hitting pub after pub, and soon I was drunk enough to ask Klaus something that had been bugging me.Why are we slower?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I asked him if modern comic artists are, on average, slower than we used to be. He said yes, and I agreed.
From the Golden Age until the 80s, pencillers were generally expected to turn in at least two pages a day, while an inker was expected to turn in around 3-4. There were a handful of exceptions, I'm sure, but most of the artists could pump out pages like human printing presses. In the current comic industry, it's completely reversed: while a handful of artists can still hit this speed, the vast majority can't. Pencillers today struggle to produce a page-per-day, while inkers (those who still ink with ink) are hitting around 2.
So what happened? I'v

I'm not saying that there are bad photos I'm just saying that they are not pin-up.
Well ofcourse the term pin-up means a photo that is pined up a wall, so what? If my brothers pins up a wall a photo of car is that pin-up too?
"A pin-up girl, also known as a pin-up model, is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as popular culture. Pin-ups are intended for informal display, e.g. meant to be "pinned-up" on a wall. Pin-up girls may be glamour models, fashion models, or actresses.
The term pin-up may also refer to drawings, paintings, and other illustrations done in emulation of these photos (see the list of pinup artists). The term was first attested to in English in 1941; however, the practice is documented back at least to the 1890s.
The pin-up images could be cut out of magazines or newspapers, or be from postcard or chromo-lithographs, and so on. Such photos ofte
