The HoundI first read the story "The Hound" by H.P. Lovecraft, when I was a teenager in high school… probably around 1988 or so. What a great little horror story. It was very short, but it had graverobbers, an underground Museum of Death, a cool monster, and some really gory violence. Even on my first reading, "The Hound" made a very strong impression on me. Right then and there, I decided that someday, somehow, I had to draw this story as a comic book. In 2011 a European publisher (SelfMade Hero) hired me to illustrate a comic book adaptation of "The Hound" for a book called "The H.P. Lovecraft Comic Anthology Volume 2".

GETTING HERE FROM THEREWhile I had planned to get a new laptop for some time to replace my veteran 2007-era MacBook Pro, I antagonized about finding one that looked nice, had good performance, and was an acceptable price. Then, one day I realized, I rarely ever actually use my laptop. My MacBook Pro remained unused for weeks at a time. With a much newer and more powerful Windows 7-based desktop computer in my studio, the only thing my MacBook Pro could give me was lesser performance for generally the same experience [since I still had to use a desk when doing tablet work with it.] I need a laptop for portable work, presentations, and conferences with clients, but I didn't want one just for that purpose and sit around doing nothing in the meantime. So I thought about a game changer -- a Tablet PC.
I researched the Toshiba Portege line, Fujitsu LifeBook line, HP TouchSmart TM2, the ModBook, and the ThinkPad XT line

On the topic of perfectionIf you saw my poll, then you already know that I spilled coffee on my drawing. Because I has a stupid. Then, because that clearly wasn't enough derp for one day, I spilled my waterjug - not on the drawing this time, of course, but on my keyboard. Because, if you're going to spill stuff, you might as well go for maximum damage.
That pretty much killed my enthusiasm for that painting, so now it'll probably be a few more days before I finish and upload it. I've mostly been working on commissions, anyway; I should be able to upload those at some point, too, but not yet. So the next week or two will probably be fairly quiet on my side.
I've got another thing that I'd love to hear your thoughts on, though. I'm not going to go into it here, but I've been thinking more about realism lately, and wondering whether getting a drawing 100% photo-perfect is really t
