FAQ: FFXIII-2 Starseeker weaponEdit: Many of you asked for a transformation vid. So, I made this video clip. Enjoy!FAQ: FFXIII-2 Starseeker weapon2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In my former journal I asked if you would like for me to explain how my Starseeker weapon was made. Since there were quite some people that would like me to do so, I decided to make this FAQ journal. So, I hope I'l answer some questions you might have about this curious weapon and I hope I can explain it well enough for you all to understand.
Note that I made the weapon a couple of months ago and I don't remember everything very clear of the making of it. But, I'll do my best.
So, first things first: The Starseeker
Serah's weapon is quite the interesting one. This because it's a transformable one just like her sister's, Lightning. Nonetheless, it's a transformable one from bow to blade, which original form is none other than the cute moogle companion, Mog.
Of course, Final Fantasy is all about 'Fantasy', so making an exact workin

PE: Film and AnimationAs 2012 is coming to a close we can reflect on a lot of new technologies this year. Perhaps one of the biggest advances in technology was that of filmmaking both in the professional and pro-sumer categories with a new GoPro that has 4K capabilities, the Canon 5D MKIII, the Sony F5, and perhaps one of the biggest moves was that of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. With the exception of the Sony F5, these cameras all came in under $5000, making them readily available both for the professional world and for the pro-sumer world.PE: Film and Animation2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This

Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your piecesThis tutorial is based on how to use Smooth-on's Oomoo- and Smooth-cast series materials for cosplay purposes. There is little special too about using fiberglass instead of smooth-cast. Hope you enjoy!Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your pieces1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Ok. Lets get started!
"I need five identically same looking parts like in that center of the picture for my cosplay but making them one by one would take LOTS of time. What to do?"
If you have the right materials then the answer is simple: "Make one sharp prototype of that piece then mold it and cast it."
Here are the materials you need:
- Modelling paste for making the prototype (or what ever material you like. It won't affect to the final product)
- Smooth-On's Oomoo 25 or 30 for making the mold (mold max 20-40 works too but it' need more skill to use. So i recommend Oomoo)
- Smooth-On's Smoothcast series for casting (i recommend smooth-cast 320 because it is easy to paint with spray paint)
(Smooth-On got lot of resellers in few countries. Here in Finland is Silcom.fi who sells their p
Prop-building 101, part IISo you've decided to build your first giant sword/hammer/axe/super-dimensional-electric-trident, and gathered all the materials for your mighty Cosplay weapon of doom. Now is time to do some planning!Prop-building 101, part II6 years ago in Personal More Like This
Like with costumes, you really cannot have too many reference pictures of the props you make. We tend to pin up every good color picture we can find up on corkboard in our living room. Scour the internet and art books for pictures, and if there is a video game that features your character try to get your grubby pawns on it to look at the weapon in 3D. Even better, if there is a high-quality action figure available for the character you are cosplaying, they usually come with weapons that are perfect reference material in 3-D! Besides, who does not want to own MORE actions figures?
Use any pictures or models of your character with the prop you are building as a measurement for how big your sword needs to be. If you are really tall, this means you will need to build much longer
2010 End-of-year Wigs ReviewEdit: Added some wig shops I missed. XD And some more wig pics donated by astachan <32010 End-of-year Wigs Review4 years ago in Personal More Like This
As promised, here's the wig review for this past year(2010) I was supposed to post this up before new year, but...yeah, I was late as usual. XD Hope everyone is having a good 2011 so far!
I'll try to make this as simple as possible.(but I seem to always write long journal..) This review will include 3 sections: Japanese shops, Ebay shops, and Taobao(China) shops. I will put link on how to buy from these online shops. Link to their websites is on the title of their shop. Also, if you click on the image of the wig, it will show you the link to the exact wig that I bought from that shop(if it's still available). The price range of wigs is estimated with shipping(+other fees) to the USA. My head size is around 22", a bit bigger than average person's head, but I have short hair, so keep that in mind when comparing size of wig cap.

As of now, my brain is too fried to write up a proper journal entry about our volcano GARventure, and one of my usual event reports (as you can see on the right side of my journal) about Cosplay Mania, but I'd like to take this chance to share a part of our lecture of sorts at the Cosmania cosplay workshop last Sunday.
China snowpeachdrop, Kat moonlightflight, El rosiael and I were invited to talk about general cosplay planning, like fabric selection, wig styling, cosplay makeup and photography. My friends might post the other parts, but for now here is our silly guide about posing for cosplay photos, and convention etiquette. The actual presentation was actually longer, and with lots more examples, but here is a condensed rundown of what we talked about, fo

So what is Wonderflex, then?
Wonderflex is a type of thermoplastic that is shaped with heat. Inside the plastic is woven fabric that holds the sheets of Wonderflex together when it is heated and malleable. It comes in white color, in sheets ranging from large to enormous, so you can make pretty much any Cosplay prop out of it. All my cosplays that you see in my gallery have some Wonderflex in them.
Wonderflex can be acquired at:
There are two main things you'll want to do with Wonderflex: cut it and heat it.
The best feature of Wonderlex is the fact that it can be easily cut with a good

Once these 8 Kuribohs are sold, I probably won't have any more for sale until possibly Fanime. It really depends on what I'm in the mood to work on and what I have time for.

On misunderstandings about cosplayThis is a topic I've been meaning to talk about for quite a while now. I finally got the motivation to when Sarah sorairo-days emailed me to share my thoughts on what cosplay means to me, and what I feel it really means to be a cosplayer despite all the misconceptions about the hobby. It's for this article on Random Nerds, in which Sarah shares her side of it as well.On misunderstandings about cosplay2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Over the years, I've witnessed how cosplayers are constantly looked down upon, which makes people apprehensive towards it. It's such a shame because it's a wonderful and rewarding hobby which brings people together. And in general, I am firmly against making anyone feel bad about doing something they want to do.
I am aware that the concept of cosplay might be too much for some individuals, but our intention definitely isn't to get all up in everyone's faces and say everyone should cosplay or whatever. We just want to promote a

Basically, we all have a favorite champion (or two) right? So... here's the deal: all you have to do is create some artwork in tribute to your favorite champion and I'll post it up here for everyone to see! Which champion do YOU think will be the most popular?
In your submitted artwork, feel free to include your reasoning as to why that specific champion (or champions) is your favorite! Also, please post the link to your work here on the blog so it'll be easier for me to include it here. Thanks!
Have fun everyone, Happy March!
