Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your piecesThis tutorial is based on how to use Smooth-on's Oomoo- and Smooth-cast series materials for cosplay purposes. There is little special too about using fiberglass instead of smooth-cast. Hope you enjoy!Cosplay Tutorial: Molding and casting your pieces3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Ok. Lets get started!
"I need five identically same looking parts like in that center of the picture for my cosplay but making them one by one would take LOTS of time. What to do?"
If you have the right materials then the answer is simple: "Make one sharp prototype of that piece then mold it and cast it."
Here are the materials you need:
- Modelling paste for making the prototype (or what ever material you like. It won't affect to the final product)
- Smooth-On's Oomoo 25 or 30 for making the mold (mold max 20-40 works too but it' need more skill to use. So i recommend Oomoo)
- Smooth-On's Smoothcast series for casting (i recommend smooth-cast 320 because it is easy to paint with spray paint)
(Smooth-On got lot of resellers in few countries. Here in Finland is Silcom.fi who sells their p

I had many of you asking when I was going to post on how I made my version 2 outfit and my version 2 bow-blade. I said soon, and so I'm writing during my free time I have between classes. In my former journal I asked if you would like for me to explain how my Starseeker weapon was made. Since there were quite some people that would like me to do so, I decided to make this FAQ journal. So, I hope I'l answer some questions you might have about this curious weapon and I hope I can explain it well enough for you all to understand.
Note that I made the weapon a couple of months ago and I don't remember everything very clear of the making of it. But, I'll do my best.
So, first things first: The Starseeker
Serah's weapon is quite the interesting one. This because it's a transformable one just like her sister's, Lightning. Nonetheless, it's a transformable one from bow to blade, which original form is none other than the cute moogle companion, Mog.
Of course, Final Fantasy is all about 'Fantasy', so making an exact workin

1. Switch off that teacher mode Ana!
So maybe I started off wery wrong trying to give some unnecesarry advices on posing and expressions. I quickly realised that I shouldn't have.
This is probably because I switched into that teacher mode working on a very special cosplay panel. I hope I didn't seem to be to bossy - I seriously didn't mean to scare anyone
I was worried I made a horrible mistake but felt a lot better when Stephen the phtograper used the same analogy and example I used at the beginning of the session to guide the very last cosplayer to that specific facial expression desired for the photo.

As the World Turns, So Does LightningIn a new interview with 4gamer, the team behind Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII open up with some new information about the game and the approach to developing the third and final entry in “Lightning’s Saga”. Present were producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Motomu Toriyama, lead designer Yujii Abe, and art director Isamu Kamikokuryou. As the World Turns, So Does Lightning6 months ago in Personal More Like This
When asked why Lightning Returns wasn’t called “Final Fantasy XIII-3″ as it is the end of a trilogy, the team felt this entry was unique enough to warrant a different name — as calling it XIII-3 might give the impression that it would be a direct evolution of Final Fantasy XIII-2. The game is a “new experience” in layman’s terms, as Yoshinori Kitase put it.
Director Motomu Toriyama explained that the concept of “World Driven” as a theme for Lightning Returns is drastically different than previous FFXIII titles. Explaining Final Fantasy XIII as “Story Driven”, and Fin

The world of FFXIII is sustained by Lightning becoming a crystal.
— Previously Toriyama said, “someday I’d like to make a story where Lightning finds happiness.” However, FFXIII-2 wound up ending on a tragic note.
Toriyama: If you play Lightning’s DLC episode, you’ll understand her thoughts when she became a crystal. It’s sad, but I think you get the impression she can end feeling a little relieved. However, I certainly couldn’t say that the conclusion this time was a happy one for her. This was done strategically; I got the feeling I’d like to try envisioning the story one more step beyond.
Watanabe: Nevertheless, Lightning’s character burdens herself with everything, so it’s fairly difficult for her to overcome and find

I finally styled Lightning's wig that I bought from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/13-Final-Fantasy-lightning-Cosplay-Wig-Gray-Pink-/180673963366?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions&hash=item2a1101e566
It says gray pink wig, but it looks more closer to dark pink-purple. Here's a before and after pictures of the wig in different lighting:
So far, my sister did most of the cutting and styling with got2be hairspray for two hours, but I still have to make the tail thinner. The wig is heat-resistant, so I was able to straighten the curls I found too cute for Lightning xD The wig is extremely soft!<3

Lightning Returns Demo Second Hand ImpressionsThe Nico Nico live stream of Square Enix's Lighthing Saga presentation cut off just before the best part: an actual first look at the gameplay in Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII.Lightning Returns Demo Second Hand Impressions9 months ago in Personal More Like This
After high level introductions to the game from Motomu Toriyama, Yuji Abe, and Isamu Kamikokuryo, which you can see here (http://andriasang.com/con2jl/ffxiii_lightning_videos/), Square Enix turned off the cameras, told everyone in the audience to do the same, then showed a first trailer. This was followed by a gameplay demonstration.
The trailer provided an introduction to the game's world and its time progression system. One sequence showed a time counter: "00/02:54:23." Famitsu speculates that by clearing quests, you can increase this timer.
Another sequence showed Lightning, dressed in a new outfit, in pursuit of the criminal in a murder incident. She pursues a group of suspicious people, making use of cover actions -- hiding behind walls, for instance. During the presentation, Toriyama explained that

The ugly side of the cosplay communityI wasn't going to write about this, because my sis and I don't care about people who spend their time posting hateful comments about cosplayers. Though, I like to share my thoughts with you all. I've heard and seen the cosplay group I was with, The iDOLM@STER, was featured in sites where many commented negatively. To be honest I laugh and feel sorry for those commenters. The ugly side of the cosplay community3 months ago in Personal More Like This
You all have probably seen it, people whine about anything like how the cosplayers look, the way they sew, the way they pose, etc... "Omg it's not perfect!" Who in this world is perfect? No one. For instance, I can't help it, but I like to make derp looks in photos XD
One of the main points they bring up on cosplayers is their looks. When I was young I was stupid. I was very critical about myself and everything that happened around me. All of that has changed though. I have a scar across my belly and I bet many girls wouldn't want that, but the scar means a lot to me. It reminds me that I was near death and the doctors

Most of the time, I find FAQ to be a little bit pretentious, but I've finally decided to make one simply because, I get one of these questions at least once a week, and while I love giving you all the individual help that I can, those of you who have asked these questions and received answers know they tend to be suuuuper long winded (I have a hard time explaining any other way), and I just don't always have time to answer in as much detail as I like. So here I can make sure I give all the basic info I can think of, but you are more than welcome to note me or comment with any further questions!

Let me first say that I don't feel knowledge belongs to any one person. I am more than happy to explain in detail to you how I have done absolutely everything on any of my cosplays. From makeup to a

A Word on WeatheringA lot of people have been asking me how I did the weathering on my armor. The weathering was done using the sponge/rag technique. First, I would take black acrylic and dab it with a sponge and rub it all over the armor, section by section, covering every square inch. Then, after letting it sit for a moment, I would rub it off with a rag. If I wanted to remove more, I would wet the rag. Then I would repeat the process with brown acrylic. Then, after all said and done, the streaks and edges were done with a silver leafing pen.A Word on Weathering2 months ago in Personal More Like This
A word on getting "that look". The point of weathering is that the armor does not look brand spanking new. You shouldn't weather your armor with a specific pattern in mind (unless you are airbrushing and are very skilled). The point of dirt and wear and tear is that it is supposed to be random, so don't fret if the weathering deviates from what you envisioned. But, you should take into account of things like gravity, where the bottom might be more dirtier than the t
