My character for 3D, semester 2.
His name is Lloyd, and he is a mime.
The weight painting in this is shite (if you don't know what weight painting is, consider yourself very lucky)
So this is him walking, pushing an invisible crate, and then super-jumping (with motion blur!

I've already shared some excerpts of the above hand drawn animation, but this is the final version with all the frames and with my original music. I drew each frame one by one, there are over 3,000 frames in total.
You can view some frames individually and the sketches and music in progress in this blog post. I made this in a rather minimalist way. It's meant to be some kind of short video clip for the music. It was really time consuming, I hope I can do longer projects in the future.
The video starts with an introduction showing my studio, the lion appears on the computer and walks, walks, walks... the lion transforms itself in strange faces, the faces become a skull, the skull becomes a flower.
A young man fabricates a simple sock puppet, not knowing the abuse the entity will soon inflict. Through an escalating series of torture, the possessed puppet takes on the embodiment of fear, chaos, and willful self-destruction.
For the first time in a looong time I was motivated to draw something, though I had no idea what. It was then when I heard about the death of Robin Williams, so I decided to draw him. Coincidentally I wanted to make a TimeLapse recording of me drawing for a long time. With my new smortphone I finally had the tools to give it a try. The first 1-2 were not recorded. It's a tragic death and should be a reminder of how big a blow depression can deal to people. All the more reason to acknowledge it's existence more publicly in a less derogative way.

A Cake for Cherry is my senior thesis at Emily Carr University of Art and Design (2011) and my very first film.
I've never spent so much time on a project before. Took me 8 months from start to finish. Loads of blood and sweat went into this project. It was a huge learning experience and I literally went crazy (and paranoid)! XD There are a lot of things that I want to modify, change and improve in the film (like timing, pacing, shots, animation... etc.), but I did my best.
Even if I'm not truly satisfied with the outcome (there are a lot of things that I hate/love about it)... I have to move on and create new art!
Special Thanks to my family and friends for supporting me and helping me make this film possible! Without you guys, I don't think I would've survived.
Enough with my blabbering, hope you enjoy!!
