I've been wanting to draw Master Chief for a long time now, ever since I first played combat evolved in fact. I've just never thought I was good enough to even attempt it as he is a quiet complex character to draw. So now I've finaly given it a go and I hope I have done him justice.
Okay, so one of my friends has this Halo universe she created that is inspired by traditional Japanese culture. Anyways, she actually got to talk to the guys at Bungie about it - and they were intrigued. Well, she asked me to do some drawings for her. This is a samurai-fied version of master chief. I thought the katana would be too obvious a choice, so I decided to go with another of the samurai's favourite weapons - the long bow. I suped it up a bit. Believe me, those are no ordinary arrows!
I kind of wanted to base the armour design on the fact that Master Chief is known as "The Demon" to his enemies. So, I went with a sort of dragon-like theme for the helmet and a scaley look to the armour.
Halo and all Halo characters are the property of Bungie and Microsoft! I just like to play with them.
OH HEY LOOK, ANOTHER UNFINISHED MASTER CHIEF PICTURE!
A late night speed paint I did while listening to the new Halo 4 soundtrack (which is incredibly beautiful btw) - [link]
We got the game earlier today, but I havent gotten to play it yet because my brothers wont let me on the Xbox.... So no spoilers please :> I JUST FINISHED THE GAME AND NOW THIS PICTURE MAKES ME REALLY SAD
Since it was a speed paint, I didn't put a whole lot of effort into detailing the armor so there are probably a lot of mistakes, but I plan to go back, fix everything, and add more details to the piece later on this week.
p.s Ive never really done a rain picture like this before, so this was sort of an experiment for me. It was a lot of fun though, and I think it turned out all right! But tell me what you think?
