My deviantART StoryMy deviantART Story1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
This was my very first DA submission I had seen a wallpaper very similar so I used it as my inspiration to do a digital painting in PS.
I was new to the digital Art scene and had basic PS experience, due to a disability I could no longer use my Pencils to hand sketch which was always my favorite medium.
So I thought I would give digital Art a go and chose to make use of PS, that was a little over 1 year ago.
So I began browsing DA and getting familiar with things and checking out the different styles of Art.
That is when I came across this beautiful piece by my Friend Xzendor7, I was blown away!
I was really curious as to how this was done, and Rolando always gives a very detailed description of his process.
This is how I came to know about Fractals and Fractal Art and also what makes a "Fractal Composition" , it was love at first sight so to speak
This is "Sakura" my very first attempt at maki
This pisses me off! Warning for watchers! This pisses me off!6 months ago in Personal More Like This
This journal contains a raging rant directed towards deviantArt itself. If that's not your thing then stop reading now.
I find this notification offensive for various reasons.
First of all, why does it even matter to you, deviantArt? I could enter whatever random first name in the world as my "real" name and you wouldn't know if it was real or not so why do you even ask?
Secondly, does my name seem unreal to you? Give me a good reason why I'm seeing this crap in my notifications, not just some stupid insinuation.
Thirdly, if someone chooses to have an alias or a pseudonym they probably do so for good reasons - some of them being that they don't want to use their real name and/or they don't want to be found by "friends and fans", or family for that matter, because they want to be private. Or they just d

The next Mandelblurb3D release will have a powerful feature; the "cosmic raytrace annihilator" a futuristic feature that Andreas invented!
HOW IT WILL WORK;
1. Open Mandelblurb3D.
2. Switch to 4D mode.
3. Enable volumetric lights.
3.141592 Shoot at your monitor with a plasma gun, to fix uneven pixel count on escapetime formulas.
4. Disable hypergeometric fog, in the window "Foggy trisecant of arcotangent".
5. Enable cosmic inverse ray, in the window "OHCRAP - DONTDOTHATFOOL". You will see this sequence of images: [link]
6. Point the laser beam (bundled with Mandelblurb3D - experimental version) to your room's wall. (If you have no such thing, order now; [link] )
7. Set the ray energy to 6.02e23 - 100000000 + 3.14 ^ your feet length in microns. (according to this book - http://en.

An Amazing Surf 2 GuidelineMany people went a bit frustrated on not getting anything “cool” from the new Amazing Surf 2 formula recently made by Luca, aka dark-beam :icondark-beam: for Mandelbulb 3D.An Amazing Surf 2 Guideline8 months ago in Personal More Like This
If you haven't it in hand you can get it here: http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelbulb-3d/custom-formulas-and-transforms-release-t17106/
Here's a brief indication on how you can get nice patterns out of it without hair pulling
I've assumed that you already put on the first slot the Asurf2 formula.
So, let's change some values:
Min R= 0.1
Rotate1 Z= 8
It would look something like this:
Now go on the Julia tab in the main window or in the 3D navi, as you most prefer, and input the following values:
Now that's it, you're done basicall

What a nice surprise I got this morning! My fan fractal was the winner in its category and will be added to the Mandelbulb 3D default parameters in dark-beam's next update! Thank you so much to all who voted for this entry, and especially to Luca for the fun contest.
Images Used on VAC AlbumWoot! This spring I licensed some of my work to VAC (Velvet Acid Christ) for their new compact disc and album, "Subconscious Landscapes" which was released a few days ago on October 25. They had offered posters, t-shirts, signed merchandise and etc (no longer available) with my art as part of their pledge music drive leading up to the release. VAC's genre of music is Industrial Trip-hop Trance, EBM, Techno, Goth and Darkwave. You can order the CD, Album or MP3's here http://www.velvetacidchrist.com/2014/10/28/velvet-acid-christ-subconscious-landscapes-lp-is-out-for-everyone-now/ . It was a good experience working with Bryan Erickson of VAC and Joe Schulthise of Metroplis Records http://www.metropolis-records.com/. I had to use the 'big render' feature in MB3D on "Industrial Contamination" as it is an inherently noisy image, though not obviously so i
JWildfire 2.34 release: now with iflames-editorJust released JWildfire V2.34 which is a major update, featuring a whole new module: the iflames-editor!JWildfire 2.34 release: now with iflames-editor7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Another major feature is the ability to cache flame-thumbnails on harddisk, which may especially improve the speed of the flame-browser a lot. But also normal browsing of flames will benefit from this. And, also the iflames editor… but what are iflames?
An “iflame” is some kind of a symbiosis of computer images and flame fractals, and is still a flame-fractal.
The basic idea is to build one huge fractal by exchanging “important” pixels of an image by swarms of small fractals.
So, an iflame is made by a picture (which may be another fractal or any other image) and a number of base-fractals.
The new module makes it a breeze to create iflames and control their numerous parameters (about 350 at this time).
It also allows to create a libra
about Christmas........ Today I found this quote on a Christmas Calendar:about Christmas....9 months ago in Personal More Like This
What is Christmas? It means to feel affection for the past. Courage for the present and hope for the future. It is the fervent wish that every human being is blessed and that every path may lead to peace.
In this sense - Merry Christmas to you all.

Johnlock: A Dad's Guide to ShippingIf, when you hear the name Johnlock, you think of the 17th century poltical philosopher, John Locke, then keep reading. This guide is for you.Johnlock: A Dad's Guide to Shipping3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
My daughter, who is a freshman in high school, informs me that Johnlock is not, as I had presumed, the "Father of Classical Liberalism", but rather the "Father of All Gay Ships". In fact, it is a "gateway ship" for all sorts of "slash" couples. Confused? I was too. Like I said, keep reading.
Johnlock is John Watson and Sherlock Holmes, paired as a gay couple. More specifically, it is Martin Freeman/Benedict Cumberbatch (hence the term "slash"), in their roles as John and Sherlock, living in a fanfiction story arc (a sort of alternate universe) and being in a romantic relationship (hence the term "ship'") with each other. This is a VERY popular concept among young people (I can pretty much guaranty that my mother NEVER shipped Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce). Fangirls (and fanboys, to a certain extent), who are devoted to the BBC series Sherlock,
Clarifying an Issue with Stock ResourcesThere appears to be a fair amount of misunderstanding on the subject of stock resources so what I would like to do today is attempt to clarify several issues which are of importance to the artists who generously provide stock resources to the public for use and hopefully dispel the confusion and misinformation which is beginning to circulate.Clarifying an Issue with Stock Resources2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
The first issue at hand is in regards to your personal stock terms
Your Personal Stock Terms
Officially deviantART maintains only one "automatic" restriction and that is "No Commercial Use" and that particular restriction can easily be overridden by the actual stock provider.
We only ask a few things from you in return;

Art, Math, and Computers: Primary ColorsA series of occasional articles on the intersection of art, math, and computersArt, Math, and Computers: Primary Colors3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Everything you know is wrong.
That's the title of an old Firesign Theater album, and I think of it often as I watch my kids progress through high school. Maybe it should read, "Many of the things you are taught have been dumbed down because teachers didn't think you could handle them." Whether it's glossing over quantum physics when teaching the nature of the atom, or stating that Socrates killed himself, because getting into the whole trial thing is too complicated, examples abound.
Anyway...most people, when asked to name the primary colors, would respond "red, yellow, and blue", and, when asked to define what a primary color is, would respond with something like, "they are the colors which can be used to make all other colors". That's what many of us were taught in school at a young age, but it's only partially true. People involved in printing know that the truest pri
New Username SymbolsAs part of our ongoing process to make the user experience cleaner and more intuitive, we've launched a new set of username symbols designed to help easily identify deviant-types.New Username Symbols2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
At a glance, the new symbols are quickly recognizable. When hovering over a username symbol, a tooltip appears, providing a brief explanation of that user's deviant-type. If clicked, a modal appears, giving a brief explanation for each username symbol, with "Learn more" links that lead to more detailed explanations.
A word from Heidi:
Over the years, a few things have come to seem like deviantART mainstays. Deviant green, intricate art categorization, colorful avatars, symbols next to usernames. In our constant re-evaluation of what's best for longtime deviants and new users alike, we do sometimes need to stop and ask ourselves if a makeover for some aspect isn't overdue. Changing username symbols was one of the harder things we evaluated.
I've been testin
