My deviantART StoryMy deviantART Story10 months ago in Art Features More Like This
This was my very first DA submission I had seen a wallpaper very similar so I used it as my inspiration to do a digital painting in PS.
I was new to the digital Art scene and had basic PS experience, due to a disability I could no longer use my Pencils to hand sketch which was always my favorite medium.
So I thought I would give digital Art a go and chose to make use of PS, that was a little over 1 year ago.
So I began browsing DA and getting familiar with things and checking out the different styles of Art.
That is when I came across this beautiful piece by my Friend Xzendor7, I was blown away!
I was really curious as to how this was done, and Rolando always gives a very detailed description of his process.
This is how I came to know about Fractals and Fractal Art and also what makes a "Fractal Composition" , it was love at first sight so to speak
This is "Sakura" my very first attempt at maki

This journal contains a raging rant directed towards deviantArt itself. If that's not your thing then stop reading now.
I find this notification offensive for various reasons.
First of all, why does it even matter to you, deviantArt? I could enter whatever random first name in the world as my "real" name and you wouldn't know if it was real or not so why do you even ask?
Secondly, does my name seem unreal to you? Give me a good reason why I'm seeing this crap in my notifications, not just some stupid insinuation.
Thirdly, if someone chooses to have an alias or a pseudonym they probably do so for good reasons - some of them being that they don't want to use their real name and/or they don't want to be found by "friends and fans", or family for that matter, because they want to be private. Or they just d

The next Mandelblurb3D release will have a powerful feature; the "cosmic raytrace annihilator" a futuristic feature that Andreas invented!
HOW IT WILL WORK;
1. Open Mandelblurb3D.
2. Switch to 4D mode.
3. Enable volumetric lights.
3.141592 Shoot at your monitor with a plasma gun, to fix uneven pixel count on escapetime formulas.
4. Disable hypergeometric fog, in the window "Foggy trisecant of arcotangent".
5. Enable cosmic inverse ray, in the window "OHCRAP - DONTDOTHATFOOL". You will see this sequence of images: [link]
6. Point the laser beam (bundled with Mandelblurb3D - experimental version) to your room's wall. (If you have no such thing, order now; [link] )
7. Set the ray energy to 6.02e23 - 100000000 + 3.14 ^ your feet length in microns. (according to this book - http://en.
An Amazing Surf 2 GuidelineMany people went a bit frustrated on not getting anything “cool” from the new Amazing Surf 2 formula recently made by Luca, aka dark-beam :icondark-beam: for Mandelbulb 3D.An Amazing Surf 2 Guideline4 months ago in Personal More Like This
If you haven't it in hand you can get it here: http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelbulb-3d/custom-formulas-and-transforms-release-t17106/
Here's a brief indication on how you can get nice patterns out of it without hair pulling
I've assumed that you already put on the first slot the Asurf2 formula.
So, let's change some values:
Min R= 0.1
Rotate1 Z= 8
It would look something like this:
Now go on the Julia tab in the main window or in the 3D navi, as you most prefer, and input the following values:
Now that's it, you're done basicall

What a nice surprise I got this morning! My fan fractal was the winner in its category and will be added to the Mandelbulb 3D default parameters in dark-beam's next update! Thank you so much to all who voted for this entry, and especially to Luca for the fun contest.

Very sad news to all of Marks friends. (Kram666)I visited Marks homepage and discovered this message left by his brother.Very sad news to all of Marks friends. (Kram666)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
"This is Simon, Mark's brother, with the terribly sad news that Mark passed away last week.
This was a huge shock to us all.
I helped him set up his PC with all his drawing tools so knew how much he adored producing his bespoke digital artwork and how much the Deviant art community meant to him.
On his behalf I'd like to thank you all for the friendship and support you've shown and would ask you to pause for a minute at 14:20 on Monday 1st October. (British Summer Time)
With Kind Regards.
As Mark often quoted.
"I felt the call of the jungle, primal and clean.
I felt my connections to the wild in every cell in my body;
realized that I am among the trees,
the plants, the grass, the sky. The trees know

I will never be able to explain the how and why I love fractal creating with all my heart.
I just know, that when I "found" it here on Deviant Art. I have never stopped looking and
wanting to create fractals that would make others say "WOW"....or "AWESOME".
But I also discovered, thanks the Lord, that creating a fractal, any fractal from any software
is a group activity that involves the creators of the fractal software, as well as looking
at the awesome work of those who have made fractals before us, and
those who write tutorials and give real time advice in :iconthe-ApoShack:
Without all these things and people working together....fractal art would not be the powerhouse it is today.
I say these words from my heart and soul.
Have you thanked a fractalist today?
Below are images from those who I admire and want to be like....or even better than...but I KNOW
I have a long, long way to go.

Be patient and read everything. Tell me if sthg remains unclear as soon as you can.
I am looking for a set of new sample params that will be included with the next Mb3d x2, that will be a formula update + a param update.
You CAN CONTRIBUTE AND YOUR NICK will be in the param name.
Resulting images must be elegant, incisive and clean, with a stepwidth of 0.5 to min 0.3! I will be very exigent with those requirements! Sample images are examples of elegance in my eyes.
no decombines. (ALTERNATE MODE each formula can have any number of iterations 1 to 20, leave maxiter to 60 as it's fast to render). And no weird looking images. Remember the elegance rule, fractals are not random
Use neutral colors. That means; not full hue ones, prefer those more grey-ish, in general. You always can use coloured lights (just not use all the colors in the spectrum at once if possible) - and you can use dynamic fog also AND any other option in postpr

About helping othersIt has recently come to my attention that some people just don't know how to respond to requests from others for help. I have always offered help to those I can when asked. I've never ignored a request for help. I do ask that a question is specific in nature. But overall, I answer every question I can to the best of my abilities.About helping others3 months ago in Personal More Like This
So if you're going to act like you know something, and answer questions from people, you had better be prepared to answer a bunch of questions and have a bit of patience. Many times one question leads to another, and another after that. Or once you help with one question, that person may then turn to you and ask different questions. So be prepared for that. If someone is asking you for advice, they obviously think you have more knowledge that might help them. If you can't take the time for follow up questions, or just don't want to be bothered by questions that you 'think' are too obvious or simple for you to respond to, then you have no business helping someo
March Madness Mini-Teaser !MINI-TEASER ...March 2015March Madness Mini-Teaser !3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Just to get you all back into the mood for MB3D teasers we are having a mini teaser just for fun.
:icondark-beam: has been real busy developing heaps of new formulas for us to work with and explore so I think we should be focusing on this output for the next wee while.
For this months mini-teaser we will take ASurfSmoothFold as our formula and use it and it alone to create a stunning fractal.. (this is basically a smooth Abox turned into a smooth Asurf with some nice rotations)
You can use maps/background images etc just as long as the ASurfSmooth is the main part of the image...
here are a couple of examples by :iconPaMonk: by :iconbatjorge:
Please submit your deviations in the "25th Teaser" folder here http://mandelbulb3dteasers.deviantart.com/gallery/53522403/Devious-Folder
Each participant can submit 2 deviations.
Last date of submission - 28th March 2015

Creating a Beautiful Fractal ImageThere are so many beautiful fractal images in the art world...Creating a Beautiful Fractal Image2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
...and the ones here at Deviant Art are no exception! The images are as diverse as each person who creates it. I am a lay-person on the subject when it comes to explaining the art itself. Simply put...fractals are based on Mathematical Equations. The how and the why of this explanation still eludes me, but the beauty of the images keep my creating them. For information about the underlying mathematics check this Wikipedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractals
This journal will look at the elements that go into creating a beautiful Fractal Image, rather then the complexity of the base mathematics.
I did not come to these thoughts about the "Perfe

Luca's Formula and Parameter Update For MB3DNote: Added second image.Luca's Formula and Parameter Update For MB3D4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Luca, aka dark-beam , is asking for some help. In his journal here ----> I NEED HELPERS , he asks that some adventurous MB3D artists create some parameters to be included in a formula and parameter update for MB3D. He has a few requirements listed so be sure to visit the journal and check it out!
Here's a peek at one image I made following one of his suggested parameters. Maybe I'll get lucky
