Husband [Loki x Reader (pt34)]"Okay stop," you demanded, breaking your wrist away from him. Loki turned around, looking at you curiously. "I don't want to learn any more stupid magic. I want you to stop avoiding my question. Who is Lynda married to?"
"Please don't," he begged. "You really wouldn't like the answer..."
You crossed your arms, stomping a foot firmly on the ground. "Tell me, Loki! At this point, I think I get it, I just want you to tell me."
His expression went from pleading to almost offended. "If you think you have any idea what Lynda and I have been through together, you can think again. Now if you really don't want to fight alongside me, that is perfectly okay, I can just leave you in that room and steal Lynda's vortex manipulator to make certain you won't get out and do something stupid to hurt yourself--"
"Don't you try anything," you warned. "You're trying to distract me by getting me angry but it's not going to work. You tell me right now what's going on with that ring and why it d

And that gave you even more of a thrill because you remembered how close to naked you were. It made your stomach twist, and made you giggle stupidly and smile even bigger. You snuggled against him and snuggled your face into the pillow you shared, trying to keep your breathing at a steady rate.
"You're awake?" he asked, giving your back a light kiss. Shivers ran through your whole body and you smiled so hard your cheeks hurt.
"Yeah...good morning, Loki." That felt so good to say! You turned around in his arms, wrapping your own around his bare torso and nuzzled your forehead under his chin, kissing him just under the collar bone. He let out an audible exhale.
"Oh my, that was unexpected..." He kissed you on top of the head, tightening his arms around you. His cool fingers slid o

You heard talking as you passed the tree trunk room.
"...sudden you trust him? I don't know, Tony..."
"I know. I'm not saying put all your trust in him, I mean as soon as he pulls something funny we're crackin' down, but Thor and her trust him so let's at least give him a chance."
"I really don't know..."
"Alright, forget them. You trust me, don't you?"
You continued down the hall, finding it came to a dead end. "What the...? Damn labyrinth..."
You patted the walls down, checking carefully for any of those hidden openings, and then you heard Loki's voice back down the way you had come. "Loki?" You looked up, and saw him disappear at the tree trunk room, so you went back that way and walked right in.
"Loki, I w--OH MY GOSH."
"AAH!" Tony shouted while a shirtless Steve blushed in his arms. "FOR

You felt cold. Why were you cold if there was fire? Why was Thor telling you to wake up?
Your conscious awoke. This was a dream. You were frozen. Every image faded into black, all you could see were fuzzy light spots under your eyelids. You tried to make yourself move. What could you do?
You fought the dormancy of your subconscious, trying to maintain a steady train of thought. What had you been thinking about? Dammit! Thor was screaming at you from a mountain top. What had you been thinking about? It was snowing. It was cold. The snow stung so badly it was almost unreal. No, not unreal, real! Yes, that was it, wake up!

So now you were lying on the floor because the room was very empty and it wasn't like there was much else you could do. You had already tried to eavesdrop but you couldn't hear through Loki's door, and as you progressed further down the hallway to explore you conveniently forgot your motivation. You assumed it was a side-effect of the Labyrinth. Actually, now that your mind was clear and un-muddled, you might just try your hand at cheating the mind trick...
"Hello," Loki's voice said softly as he knocked on the wooden wall. He smiled softly and looked around for a moment. "Just going to tell you so you don't feel so alienated, the Underground weirds me out too. Why a tree?"
You smiled up at him from the floor. He looked down at you and then crouched, face a foot above yours. "So what were you talking to them about?"

"Jareth, calm down," you said. "Lynda's..."
"Maybe she wouldn't have thrown her life away like that if she had known that I--I--"
"Zat you what?" Lynda interrupted, leaning over the counter with a pair of tongs clutching crispy bacon.
Jareth's eyes went wide and he released Loki immediately. "That I um...you...are not dead?"

"It isn't the end, we shall meet again," he promised, petting the back of your hair.
"Alright, big boy, let go so the rest of us can say g'bye," Tony said, a hand on your shoulder. You stood up and shook your head, holding open your arms for Tony but he waved you off to Steve. "I'm driving you there. We can say goodbye later, whatever."
Steve stood and gave you a nod, smiling fondly. Looked like it would be handshakes or salutes with him, but then you caught him chewing his lower lip, a spark of sadness in his eyes and you almost stumbled into a hug. He hesitated but lowered his arms around you and hugged back--a little stiffly, but it was still a hug.
When he let go, Virginia stood and smiled and you immediately headed for the elevator, followed by Tony.

The hotel hall was very dimly lit and a cold breeze whistled through as you and Thor stood before a scuffed and scratched white door.
"Maybe you should..." You nodded to the side and Thor took a few steps down the hall, waiting against the wall.
You knocked the rhythm you and your friend had agreed on. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four. Silence. "Hey, it's me," you said. "It's me, I'm sorry I've been gone so long. I'm alive, open the door!"
You waited. You heard a click through the door, and then three chkks and a squeak--the sound of four locks--and the doors opened only as much as the chain lock would allow.
You saw half of her face, wary, scared and tearstained. You smiled apologetically and she whimpered, visible eye relaxing as she closed the door to undo the last lock. When she opened the door again she embraced you immediate

He turned around, steadying you by the shoulder. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry...hah, I did say walk, didn't I. Not sprint."
"Yeah, like what?" you laughed, shaking him off and taking two exaggerated steps forward from the roots. "Do you have a specific destination or something?"
Loki smiled softly. "Well...yes. As strange as this place is, and as twisted, there is a beautiful, nearly untouched garden--oh, it's only the most beautiful thing in the universe. Besides you. Now let's go,

You hadn't realized how spread out you had become since you got here; remembering you left some shoes somewhere and a shirt in the bathroom and whatnot. You really had started treating it as your home. That would just make leaving even harder...but no. You had to deal. You had to leave, and so you had to get your closure.
You hurt Loki, for personal reasons, as vengeance. And morally, you figured, that was a bad thing; but every excuse you had used until this acceptance was still true.

But it wasn't just freezing them, it needed to be biological--so basically, you were infecting the entire race with a sort of fabricated virus that would instantly wipe them out, drawn from an essential element in the spell keeping Fenrir's ghostlike form. How convenient.
"But how do we catch him?" you asked.
Loki chuckled. "Already taken care of, sweetheart. Did you think all the fun stuff waited to happen until you got here?"
From there it was explaining parts and pieces. Harkness and Tony would work the thingy-mah-wutzit from Torchwood, effectively extracting the anideal from the spell. "Why did you lie to me?" you asked, throat tightening. "I thought you actually cared about me. I thought I meant more to you than just a just a side-kick."
He didn't say anything, still looking away. The cold hand on your hip caused you to shiver.

It had been a cruel death, you decided, watching the world in slow motion as Loki cradled her limp corpse in his arms.
She had just had the hope torn out of her and then she...died. Just like that. You knelt down with Loki and very gingerly touched her pale, freckled face, chest twisting the most at how heartbroken she looked.
"Oh, Lynda," came Loki's broken, weak voice. He bowed his head to her neck, breaths sharp and desperate. You looked Lynda all over, memories of your time with her pouring into your brain. You had shared so little time together but suddenly it was all very precious to you, and it hurt.

Thor held up his hands, shaking his head. "It is not anything gravely important...it is only...he won't be able to talk to you."
"What do you mean?" Wasn't that the point of coming down here?
"He's...wearing a muzzle."
You were more confused than anything else. "A muzzle? But why...?"
"The tongue is his sword," Thor explained--though the fact was fairly evident. "Well...now it won't be such a shock when you see him." He nodded you on, and you unlocked the door, the key shaking in your hand.
You took a deep breath and held it, leaving Thor's side for the dark chamber. "Loki?"

He chuckled, patting your shoulder. "Of course you're not...ah, it basically helps to condense your magic energies, as you tried to do on your own. It has a special kind of...well, it's like a magnet, but for energy. It's like...it's like...iron filings in a little clear box of sand. People are stupid.
Because no one even suspected him the whole five blocks, so his conversation with you went uninterrupted, for which you were not so thankful.
"So how much did you hear?" Tony asked you as you two started down a sidewalk.
You feigned confusion. "Huh?"
"Oh please." He peered at you over the top of his glasses. "As if I didn't figure out you were evesdropping when I came out and saw you with the Cap."
You watched your feet. "I heard when she wanted to come back to work for you."

Tony pointed at you, reasoning with Steve with his eyebrows raised. "I'm being a good host--"

Steve stared down at him and growled, "Tony, stop it."

"Don't need to," said Jack, staying put and perfectly calm, though not looking at Lynda. "Just pretend like you're not talking to me."
What? "But what's going...what do we talk about?" You panicked a little, trying to think up some sort of casual conversation, when suddenly Loki caught you by the lips, pinning you to the wall and kissing you passionately.
"Mmfh!" After a moment of shock, you eagerly kissed back, holding his head in your hands and wrapping a leg around his waist, drawing him closer. "Hang on, I'll tell you." He took your wrist and led you into the tunnel, you trying ever so diligently to be patient. It was a bit difficult to crouch through the small tunnel with all of these calla-lilies in your hand, but you shoved aside the irritation and started to nag.
"Some time today, Loki." The tunnel opened up and he turned and glared.
"Patience, woman! I was going to tell you right now."

You leaned against the side of the car, watching her shuffle around irritably and don a pair of yellow Rubbermaid gloves. She took the can out again and set it on the ground, next taking a flathead screwdriver out of the trunk and jamming it under the lip of the lid. With one swift stomp on the handle the lid flew to your feet, the wet popping sound echoing in the abandoned parking lot. Tipping the can, she spilled a little puddle of the paint onto the asphalt.

"Humans haven't nearly enough energy," he explained. "So they need to learn to draw from other sources. A good source is sunlight."
"Wait," you said, "But...we're underground."
"Actually it's the Underground, we're not under the crust of the earth..."
"And we're downstairs."
He nodded toward the window and you looked out and sure enough, it was a sun. Perhaps it was a bit too orange to be your sun, but it was definitely a sun, as you could tell from the swimming black dots in your vision when you looked away. "Ow. How is...?"
