Live a little longer
The stars are shining brighter,
They're shining for you
Come with me,
And dance in the moonlight
It can only get better from here
Because I say I love you
Tonight I swore I'd only speak the truth
Please, baby promise me
You'll stay to watch another sunset with me
Just wait a little longer
You'll be alright
The stars will shine oh-so-right
Lay back into the grass
Just watch the clouds and your problems pass
Into the mystery of the stars
Because I tell you I love you
Tonight I swore I'd only speak the truth
Please, baby promise me
You'll stay to watch another sunrise with me
But where have you gone,
Your passion for life, it's disappeared
To see you lie there in peaceful slumber
Don't make me say goodbye
Because I told you I loved you
That night I swore I'd only speak the truth
Please, baby I promise you
I'll watch another sunset with you
In my heart

Empty place in my soul
Is filling my mind
Gone, nothing left but
All of them,
That's all that's left.
The empty place
I have in my soul was
Once filled, filled with
Good times, Amazing
Times from this
I would do anything
Not to part company with
These amazing people
Who have captured
Who have made me
The person who I am
Today, the person
I call me.
Now, my soul is
Such a crazy word.
This empty place in my soul,
I want it filled, yet
I don't, I don't want to
Any of them.
They cannot be replaced.
Let me live!
My soul is crying,
Waiting for those amazing
People just to come back,
Take their rightful place
In my soul,
As my friends,
My soul cries,
Screaming as it cracks
Yet some more,
Knowing that I won't

Wake me up when you get the wakeup call that I love you
Chase me when you chase down the fact that you belong to me
Write me when you finally get the love letter I wrote you
Just hold me close and save me
The wind will always guide us to safety
Just give it up and fly up to the heavens with me, baby
But don't leave me, darling
I've never felt this way before
Like that feeling you get in the core of your heart
That feeling that makes butterflies into time bombs
And when you look into my eyes, I melt
But that's just love for you, baby
But this time you don't have to chase me
Because I'm not in for the race
Because you already have the keys to the gates of my heart
Maybe, oh just maybe baby
We should stay a little longer
And wait until it's darker
So we can have some fun
Let's just get out and run until the sun drops down
And we can say it loud
That the days are gonna get better
So let's make like letters and
Put U and I together
Maybe we could fly our ways and mark our maze
Until the lig

That a picture is worth
A thousand words.
To paint a picture
In your mind.
That may not be
The world we live in
Is painted with swirls of
Foaming ocean waves.
Can we even call it a world,
Tainted with evil and hatred
In almost every person's heart?
That very same world,
The world we live in
Is painted with
People hurrying by.
Are lazy days.
The brush is slow and steady.
Nowhere to get to
In a hurry,
So sit back and enjoy
Of the brush,
Painting the picture in your mind.
This world we live in,
With fields of flowers,
Creeks creeping along.
This world we live in
Can be harsh,
The world we live in
From North to South Pole.
Has his or her own place,
In this big empty world,
But it isn't accepted,
In this world we live in
And most people say,

Sleeps until kissed,
Or sacrifices her voice
To be with the one she loves.

Friends are forever Pt. 1Friends are forever Pt. 13 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
To start out, the house was large. It had a large flight of the stairs that led up to the doorway; on them was the peeling portrait of a sunrise, or perhaps a sunset. The whole house was covered in murals like these; painted with a skilled but shaky hand. The peeling paint accentuated the fact that the whole top floor was splattered with windows; a peek into the dreams of the future. It had a large, patchy yard carpeted with weeds and lilac, sending a sickeningly sweet aroma through the car's open windows. This was my home for the next two months. My Mother had said that I would grow to love it. I knew that I would.
Flori sat next to me, and for a moment I wondered how the nickname had come to being. The world may never know. Her face was silhouetted against the sunrise. The breeze carelessly lifted strands of hair away from her face, forming a kind of wispy barrier against outside worries. Her skin had a dewy glow from the warmth of the air, and she

Various shades of brown
But almost with a hint of red
In the social web created by
The Golden Suns that rule her life.
No strength remains
In her brittle hair
Not a hint of regret
Is found in the windows of the
Awful Golden Suns.
Until he came along.
Brunette with a mischievous smile
And windows that showed
The grass and mud after
A long rain shower.
He strengthened her hair.
It became smooth and soft
And moved with the waves
Of a distant shore.
He looked in her window
And found her heart beating
In time with his.
She looked in his window
And was almost sure
his heart was beating
In time with hers.
She took a step back
And tripped on her long curly hair.
She stood up again,
Only to find
Him staring into the sunrise
Of a Golden Sun.

My name is Noose. My name was supposed to be Emerald, my mother's favorite stone, but that never happened. You see, while my mother was in labor with me, my father went and hanged himself. When my mother found out, she had a fit, and decided to name her newly born daughter Noose. When my father killed himself, he broke one of the rules the Society made. You can't commit suicide in the Society. It messes up their numbers.
When my father killed himself, he left his wife and his five no, six kids if you include me alone to deal with the Society's harsh punishment for his crime. On top of that, we had to made a living for ourselves. To help feed ourselves and keep our small home, my three brothers work in the fields, and my two sisters took up jobs in the Society building here in our valley. My mother continued her job as a Home Healer.

"I want to go pick strawberries today. They're ripe now." Angel had her mind made up about this one.
Gazzy, being Angel's brother, volunteered to go with, just as he ripped one.
"Oh, jeez, Gazzy." Max always gets on him about it. It's actually quite funny.
"Gas mask!" Iggy pretended to choke. He's a pretty good actor, actually.
No longer hungry, I got up. "I'm done," I said, taking my plate to my sink.
Like Gazzy always does, he said, "Sorry." Kind of like a robot if you ask me.
Nudge waved her hand in front of her face, "Yeah, Angel. I think fresh air would do us all good. I'll go too."
Max, being the leader, told everyone that we were going to pick strawberries.
Angel asked Max if she could make strawberry shortcake.
Inside I snickered, not wanting to get on Max's bad side, like poor Iggy, right this second:
"Yeah, that'll be the day, when Max makes a cake. I'll make it Angel."
"Oh thank you! Okay, I'm not a fabulous cook. But I can kick your butt, and don't you forget it!"

No one remembers me, although I have been with you all of your lives. How? Why don't you ask that tiny little brain of yours? You see, I am one of those things that just keep coming back. Can you guess what I am before I tell you?
Let's get started.
I was there when you tricked your little brother to give you money. I was there when you were at the store and they gave you an extra twenty dollars in change and you kept it. I was there every time you did something bad, mean, or cruel. I was there when you lied to your parents, and they said they trusted you. I was there when you got grounded for months for "accidentally" killing your sister's hamster.
Do you know what I am?
No? Let's keep going.
I was there when you broke your mother's favorite vase and didn't tell her. I was there when you said the nastiest things to your younger sister, who ran away crying. I was there when you lied to your teacher about how there were crazy things going on at home so you couldn't do y
To Be PoeticTo Be Poetic3 years ago in Emotional More Like This
To be poetic, I know of a place where dreams grow and soar high enough to scrape the sky and mix up clouds. I know of a place where fields of grass grow to be characters or stray thoughts, and every blade of grass is a detail that I've forgotten because it wasn't written down. I know a place where I'm happy, and nothing can bring me down. I also know the single weakness of that place what can destroy it. It turns the fields into dying, shriveling wisps, and the dreams are forced to shrink and are nailed in an X beneath the ribbons of pale pink shoes. They throb beneath the nails and beg to be let go, to be free. But there's a small part of them that makes them think they are the cause of their misery, and they accept the fact that they are enduring the punishment they deserve.
And, in the dark of the night when they're supposed to be asleep, they whisper to nobody in particular, "I'm so sorry."

Inch by inch…
Day by day…
Into the young woman she has become today.
But there was a sadness in her,
Something she couldn't ignore.
Thank you, she says to those who
Have helped her along
All those years…
Her two best friends,
Her parents and friends,
She complained and cried with them all.
She had only been dating her
Boyfriend for a couple months,
But that doesn't matter.
He would send her a text,
Even just a "Hey how was your day?"
At the perfect moment,
And it saved her life.
Thank you, she says,
For that simple text.

Step . . . step
Just wait a moment . . .
Take just a minute
Take some time
Out of a crazy day
Relax on your feet
Dance for your hopes
Dance for your fears
Dance for your love
Or lack thereof
Take a minute out
Of a stressful day, and
Dance for me.

I tore it apart, looking for you,
Because that's where you are, Daddy said.
Under bricks and stuff.
But Mommy came out and hugged me,
Told me to stop.
You're good at hide and seek, Jason,
But you need to come out soon.
School's going to start,
Breakfast is almost ready,
And Mommy's crying.
We need to cheer her up.
I was called names again,
By Gary and his friends.
Why is middle school like this?
Why aren't you here?
I wear black now.
You may not like that.
Do you want to wear green?
We'll wear green tomorrow,
And run on the playground,
Just like we did before you left.
We started high school this year.
Isn't it grand?
I saw her today and she smiled at me.
She asked how I was.
She didn't ask about you.
Didn't ask where you were.
I have a feeling,
She already knows.
Just like I do.
We graduated today.
We're on our own.
You and me, we are free in the world now.

This honestly shouldn't be that hard,
But the rainbow only comes after the rain.
I long for a thunderstorm to clear the tension
And give me a chance to waltz in the rain
With my fantasies.
Midnight endeavors to the park,
Hours in front of a mirror without seeing.
Monotone replies of 'okay' and 'yup',
Please don't tell me that's what it'll take.
As the clock strikes three,
I know I've struck out, again.
Guard dogs growling at every entrance,
Complete with failed attempts to make eye contact.
Writing on my hands all the way up to my wrists,
Please don't tell me that's what it'll take.
I look for flaws in people's clothing and
The topic is well defined and supported.
But, of course,
The boxes will not move themselves.

She looks at the room and decides it needs cleaning. She always cleans when she's anxious. Within half an hour, all the books are on the bookshelf, shoes are set neatly in pairs by the door, the cushions on the sofa are set perfectly, alternating black and beige, the papers on the table are sorted and stacked neatly in piles, the dishes are cleaned and aligned carefully in the cabinets, TV and stereo remotes on the coffee table, and all the little knickknacks on the floor put back in the kids rooms.

I was on fire, too, you know. But everyone knows Katniss as the Girl On Fire. I'm just Peeta. From District 12. But honestly, I don't want to be known as the Boy on Fire. Or anything like that, either. I don't think I'm worthy enough. You see, the only reason I survived the Hunger Games was because Katniss saved me. There is not a thing on Earth that I could do to repay her. She's the one who's worthy of all the praise. She is the Mockingjay. I am just a boy that got taken from the 75th Hunger Games and tortured by the Capitol for information I didn't have, and to hurt her. All I do, it just hurts her. I can't bear to see that. Because I've loved her, really loved her since I burnt the bread for her.
Peeta, there is nothing I can ever do to make up for what he's done for me. He saved me. Not from dying, but from myself. At first, in the arena, I was acting. To me, it was the only way to get sponsors, and live. But after acting for so long, it wasn't acting. Looking back

I'm sorry that life is so tough.
And that not everyone is going to like you no matter how spectacular you truly are.
I'm sorry, this world is filled with hate and prejudice.
That everyday innocent people are killed either by themselves or others.
That because you're different you might have to run just a little harder than everyone else.
I'm sorry for the fact that true friends are so hard to come by.
And that one day they will still hurt you.
What sets people apart is whether they're worth hurting for or not.
I'm sorry that one night (or many a night) you will end up lying in the darkness crying all alone.
And that you might never know the reason why.
And I'm sorry that you're not given a choice to be born and the only thing you can do is make the best of it.
That sometimes hard work just won't cut it.
I'm sorry that sometimes you might be alone in a place you never wished to be in; with not a soul in the world to watch over you.
