(Starring Shining Armor and Princess Cadance)
During the night of the crescent moon, a single carriage left the gates of Canterlot, largest city and capital of the Kingdom of Equestria. Now, normally this would not be such a strange occurrence as many carriages seem to enter and exit the metropolis at will. However, this very carriage had something, or rather someponies, which were of great importance on that particular night. A while ago, the entire city was witness to one of the most important dates of the year; more important than perhaps Winter Wrap-Up or Hearth's Warming: the wedding of Captain Shining Armor and Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, (or Cadance, as she liked to be called). However, it had also been a day of crisis as hordes of demonic changelings from the deepest part of Tartarus laid siege to Canterlot. Their queen, Chrysalis, had trapped Cadence under the Royal Palace and assumed her form, deceiving Shining Armor and the entire populace. With the stal

The rooms backstage were awash with chatter and excitement and dread over the upcoming performance, and in the audience that now gathered in front of the stage, the anticipation was even greater.Hearth's Warming Eve - Missing Scenes3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
For this was the Hearth's Warming Eve recreation play. A tribute to the founding of Equestria itself and the ponies who had made it happen. Everyone in the city wanted to be here to watch it. And judging from the mass of crowds pouring through the hall's gates, it would be easy to assume that everyone was.
But for one stallion, this upcoming play gave him even greater joy. Shining Armour, using his authority as captain of the guard, had managed to convince those backstage to let him in so that he could visit one of those who would be performing tonight. Somepony he hadn't seen in too long a time.

Mi'Amore's LessonThe doors were tall. Taller than any doors she had ever seen before. They were inscribed on either side with gold-trimmed markings. On the left a mark of a pegasi. And on the right, a unicorn. But even the sheer size of that door was nothing compared to the building it was attached to. The royal palace of Canterlot. She'd always seen it from afar, but never this close. Given recent events, it was clear she'd be seeing a lot more of it in future.Mi'Amore's Lesson3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Mi'Amore Cadenza her parents had named her. Cadence as she preferred to be called. A young filly, a child. Her hair tied back into a ponytail. A filly who had no idea how much her life was about to change.
It had been merely a day since the letter had arrived from the palace. She'd only reached schooling age but rather than having arrangements made to attend some local school, that letter had arrived instead. Her family had read it several times over, with looks of both pride and concern on their faces. They'd explained to her what it meant, th

My hooves creaked on each plank as I descended the steps down into the cellar, where it's always cool and dark and earthy-musty and there's a faint trickle of an old stream running down out of Canterlot's mountains, tinkling endessly just off out there in the dark. It adds a certain dramatic urgency to my cellar. The dancing light of the candle I floated beside me caught drips and drops from the trickle, where it passed through my mesh filter and down into a water barrel. It was getting time to bring it upstairs, I thought to myself. It's the best and cleanest water in all of Equestria. I smiled and swung my lit taper around to the side where a number of barrels of clay were incubating alongside a disused old wood potter's wheel, awaiting another day I felt like taking a pass, on which I was enthusiastic but sloppy. I stepped carefully around these and floated the candle aloft, where row after row of dark brown gleaming bottles
The Right NoteLyra sat backstage waiting for her call to go onstage. It wasn’t her first time performing, but it was certainly her first time she had performed at something like this. She was currently at the Canterlot Theatre for the Musical Arts, where she shared the evening’s bill with some of Equestria’s most famed musicians. Just the thoughts of sharing a stage with musicians like Octavia, made her feel incredibly nervous. What if she didn’t perform to an equal calibre? She didn’t want to think about what would happen should that thought come true. Out on the stage Lyra heard a round of stomping applause, and realised that she was soon going to find out whether or not she could match her predecessors. Lyra caught sight of Octavia as she headed into the wings, where she received plenty of praise for a show well done. Lyra looked around her and she realised just how lonely she was. There was no-one waiting in the wings for her, no-one to praise her for a show weThe Right Note4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
