Dealing with Creative DOUBT...I'm at the point where nothing seems right. Everything I write down is cliche, badly written, and has bad pacing. Yet when I was younger I would turn out stories one right after the other like a non-stop machine. But now...thanks to all those instructors and classes, the creative edge is now limping along like a dog with only one leg.Dealing with Creative DOUBT3 years ago in Personal More Like This
...I don't have an agent or anything published in the first place. So that does paint an extra layer of doubt upon the situation.
...when I discuss this, usually I'm berated with people saying, "Stop being so emo." As if depression were something that one can simply switch on and off.
...I guess what I'm doing here is ... trying to find some kind of sign, revelation or clue that I'm not a bad writer or that I'm just another writing loser.
You're not a bad writer or a loser of any kind.
-- You're NORMAL.
The truth is all artists of every kind have to deal with Doubt -- from the rank beginner to the professional. All of us, without excep

(RANT) What it is to be WRONGSo I just got another comment explaining to me how someone's friends are really mean and evil- and how only their cosplay friends act this way, and it's always just in the community… how the community is really horrible and twisted- and people are so friggin mean- and I just want to point out something of relevance and address this because it's really starting to confuse me… just because of this-(RANT) What it is to be WRONG2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's not 'just your cosplay friends' or 'just the community' it's everyone.
Humans act this way.
People want validation for their work, time, effort, and artists are one of the biggest roles in which the only validation you generally get only that, and sometimes people don't even get that pat on the back.
It's really tough out there.
So yes- human beings may attempt to out shine you, or put you down- or accuse you of things- it's habit. This would not apply just to the cosplay community- have you ever had to put your art in a gallery? Trust me- not everyone is going to be all thumbs up if your
Castiel FAQHey there! So this is a journal dedicated to answering frequently asked questions about my Castiel cosplay. I get many asks on every picture about various things on this outfit, so I decided to go ahead and answer them all in one place~Castiel FAQ2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I never personally found the accurate coat to buy. I did find out that the jacket was originally sold by JC Penny, but they are no longer in production and I never found one for sale. The website I found it on was an overstock site and they were already sold out, and now even that page is down. My coat is NOT the accurate coat. I ended up making a lucky thrift-store find with a coat that was the right color and size for me, but had a strange flap on one shoulder and no straps on the cuffs. I ended up seam-ripping off the flap and re-sewing the shoulder, then hemming the cuffs and adding the wrist straps using the fabric from the shoulder straps.
Revisiting Naruto cosplay + Road to Ninja Movie! So I've heard of this film for a long while, but never got to watch it for lack of a proper subbed copy/DVD release. (There was that Korean dubbed one that some people watched online, but Naruto has my favorite Japanese voice acting so I didn't want to watch it any other way!)Revisiting Naruto cosplay + Road to Ninja Movie!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sometime last month, some happy news reached our shores — Road to Ninja would be showing at our local cinemas!! I know it's been a while since its first release but I'm glad I waited before resorting to well, less legal ways of watching it! Hahah! Here is a stupid rap I wrote and slapped on a manga panel:
Would Killer Bee be proud of me? HAHAH
I had the honor of being invited to the special advanced screening at Director's Club before it hit the cinemas! Major thanks to Ica and Movie Punch for having us over!

Skyrim ReviewTwo or three years late but whatever! We can't all buy stuff day one, right? Anyway, if you've been following my journal entries as I've started playing Skyrim you can probably tell how this review is gonna go down.Skyrim Review1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I hate complicated things, and Skyrim is a game with a deep and rich history that can be very difficult for newbies like me to get into. Right off the bat the game throws all sorts of names, races, powers, legends, lore, etc at you. Too much of that can be a big turn off (heck I know people who still haven't read Lord of the Rings because there were too many names), but luckily Skyrim does a good job of easing players into the game.
There is a main campaign you have to follow to technically "beat" the game, but you don't have to follow it. The moment I had a chance to break free of the story I did so and I went exploring. That allowed me, a new person unfamiliar with any of the lore of the Elder Scrolls series, to experience the world at my own pace. The world is so e

A warning to the people
One of the questions I get a lot are "who do you buy ____ from?"
I always assumed that all sites were pretty equal,
but I recently have been, and still am, dealing with a dispute form a contact website,
they have broken their our rules but still refusing to refund the purchase,
and because of the way they worded the product paypal is refusing to step up.
I'm pretty burned,
and I know others have been screwed over,

As well as people who have had amazing experiences.

F**k-ugly watermarks.I follow a lot of insanely talented artists here on DA, people whose work I look at in sheer awe and whose skill I can only dream of one day matching.F**k-ugly watermarks.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Unsurprisingly, that high quality of work leads to them either having their work ripped off or operating in fear of that happening. They, quite rightly, want to protect their art with a watermark, something which I'm not against at all.
What I am against, what I hate, is people using that god-awful DA watermark.
If you are a good artist: don't be a lazy git. Make your own watermark, use your own logo. You'll protect your work without doing it the disservice of having some automatically-generated arse-smear ruining it.
Goodbye Comments SectionSo I finally bit the bullet and disabled comments on all my artwork. I had been thinking about doing it for a while now, and after conducting a poll and seeing an overwhelming support of doing it, I decided to finally act upon it. Deviations I submit will no longer have comments. Journals and my FrontPage will because I can’t disable those (trust me, I would’ve disabled my FrontPage comment section YEARS ago if I could. That place is a cesspool).Goodbye Comments Section1 month ago in Personal More Like This
The reasons for disabling comments are pretty simple. I get a lot of hate on the internet and it’s negatively affecting me. I am, I admit, a special case. I likely get more hate than most “famous” DA users do, and as such I have to tailor my needs specifically. I also have been growing very wary about how toxic the DA community can be at times. DA doesn’t police new accounts and it’s very easy for trolls to perpetuate their activities. Blocking doesn’t really DO anything as anyone can just create

Well, there are a number of sites out there that I've come across over the years that help with that sort of thing. They pull stock images and such from different sources and give you a randomizer and timer and other features, or show anatomical structures that you can manipulate. Below I'll list some of the ones I've come across that might help you. Some of them have the same images, so you can probably just pick a couple favorites.
An oldie but goodie. I've used this site for ages and it's only gotten better. On it you'll find 3D models of poses that you can rotate around, and they all show the musculature. You can browse the poses, or use the random viewer, or the timed v

Thus... I am going to lay it all out right here on this journal.

Russia under the Cult of Putin?I really thought China was going to be the big problem for the 21st Century. They’re quietly taking over chunks of Africa and South America in order to leach them for resources, they’re trying to expand their reach in the Pacific by challenging claims over strategic islands (and when that fails, they BUILD new ones!) and their human rights record is smeared with the blood and filth of their own poor.Russia under the Cult of Putin?1 week ago in Personal More Like This
That one of the “old” superpowers would do something to upset the delicate balance that’s been in place since the end of the Cold War was unthinkable. After everything that happened in the 20th century and the blanket of fear and doubt it cast over the world, what kind of person would risk a return to the dark days?
Well, Putin gave the answer, there. I thought the chap was sinister, but ultimately harmless. A cool headed fellow that had as much pride in his nation as any other Russian. For a while last year I was even thinking; we really don’t need firs

A defense for Princess CelestiaNOTE: This is not intended to attack anyone. Please refrain from flaming other people for having different opinions.A defense for Princess Celestia3 years ago in Personal More Like This
In my vision, Princess Celestia is apparently the most hated/disliked/disregarded pony character among the good guys in MLP:FIM. And she also receives a mass amount of false characterization and crude joking from the community.
I find it very difficult to search for her on YouTube, Deviantart, EQD, Google images, ponibooru, without stumbling upon several videos/deviations of Celestia being trollish, tyrannical, cruel, sexual deviant or just an all-out depraved monster. Of all the cartoon characters i've seen so far, i've never seen one being so fanonically butchered as Celestia is.
Here are some arguments that gave origin to all the "Celestia abuse"
She sent Luna to the moon
Now i think i understand why people are so strongly focused on this argument; specially because they think it was too much of a "cruel" fate

You're A Magician, Harry!I was telling my friend about Harry Potter and mentioned one of the most famous quotes from the series, unfortunately, I recited it incorrectly. "You're a Magician, Harry!" The New Story of Harry Potter
Harry Potter's family came from a long line of performing Magicians in Las Vegas! They died in a horrible but magical accident after refusing to assist the join forces with the evil Voldemort.
The orphaned Harry Potter went to live with his relatives, the Dursleys. The Dursleys greatly disapproved of Magicians and most tourist attractions in Las Vegas. They hated Harry because they were pretty sure he would grow up to be just like his parents, wearing a cape and a top hat and leaping out of corners with fuckin doves going everywhere.
Cant you see it? Uncle Vernon yelling, "You get those rabbits the fuck out of the living room, right this instant! No! No- dont you dare put them in your hat- NO! I don't believe you, they have not disap

I have a sexuality
Asexuality is a sexual orientation where a person does not experience sexual attraction. The purpose of this journal though is a little broader than asexuality and, as the title has clued you in, is noting that many of us have our own sexuality; don't assign someone else yours.
In January, I posted Asexuality: I am louder than who I say I am, a journal to raise awareness to issues surrounding knowledge and confusion related to asexuality. I brought up asexual stigma, what asexuality is defined as and that misconceptions and not caring to know of a sexual orientation is in and of itself, damaging. The comments reflected their support of awareness and showed a healthy, strong,

So, I'm back in Latvia. Yes, I was in Netherlands, but not for a long while. Things there turned out......not too great. I got there with a job and a place to stay, but I got into an accident that left me injured quite bad. Bad enough that I couldn't work, so I got fired. The back luck was it with me that my backup plan in case something like this happened also failed. Just 3 days after my sister got fired from her job also (due to completely unrelated things). Luckily, she had a place to stay, but unlucky for me, I didn't have any place to crash at until my injury healed, and I didn't even know how long that would take, so my only option was to return back home.
Yeah, it was one unlucky trip.
But that was long while ago and I have already moved on. I've been frantically trying to find a job, but as I've said before, here in Latvia (and now for some time also in Netherlands), it's very hard to a
