Abyss- A water dragon TF storyIf you stare into the abyss....
...The abyss stares back into you.
The boy crouched on the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea, he couldn't have been over thirteen or 5 foot 3 as he stared down over the edge to the rocks below with green eyes, tan cargo shorts and a navy blue t-shirt made up his attire. A tiny forest bordered the cliff behind him as two people, obviously his friends make their way through this forest to him...
"Max!" the older of the boys called to the boy on the cliff...
I sigh and look back at Kyle, his black hair moving just enough to see him standing a few feet behind him.
"What?" I asked causualy.
"Why'd you leave?" Jake asks, stuffing his hands into his baggy jeans, he was 6 feet tall and had spiky brown hair and a scar that ran just under his left eye, which was blue. He had taken off his shirt, reavealing the sweaty muscles underneath.
"That last hit from that giant just about made me lose my lunch... besides my asthma's acting up." I say as I stand and look

The VoidWhen I lost my faith in god, it was no great personal cataclysm. It simply fell away. My fall was a snake sloughing its skin or a woman removing her coat on an overwarm day. Faith was simply something I no longer needed. But I can't pretend there wasn't a void. There was and there still is. There may always be. That void is what I feel when I think about dying. Do not mistake me, I am not afraid of death. Not at all. Not even a little bit. But I regret. I regret that my story will end. I regret that my loved ones' stories will end. I regret that I won't see others' stories through. Most of all, I regret that I won't see how the big story ends. The Void1 year ago in Personal More Like This
For a while I buried myself in the idea that SCIENCE WILL SAVE US! Ray Kurzweil's Singularity will allow me to achieve everlasting life through technology! Issue No. 2|Archives
If the severely acne-scarred face and coarse exterior brought on by his alcoholic and depressed life was the book cover of his being, then Charles was the ultimate book that could not be judged by its cover.
The exquisite collection that was this everyman artist’s art consisted of thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels—mostly all wrenchingly autobiographical, mostly all about moments of epiphany and grace in an otherwise miserable and unhappy existence. The perfect explication of the common man's deepest truth; it's not easy to be here.
Unvarnished and brutal blunt force trauma underlined with hope, beauty, longing, and love.
Therein lies the power of his poet
Positive Traits of Aspergers SyndromeMany of those with Asperger's syndrome have a number of positive characteristics, including integrity, intelligence, endurance, and freedom from prejudice.Positive Traits of Aspergers Syndrome2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Often referred to as "autism lite" or a "shadow syndrome" of autism, Asperger's syndrome is relatively common, with up to 1 in 250 people in North America meeting the diagnostic criteria (Brasic, 27 April 2011).
Those with Asperger's, or "Aspies" (a term coined by Liane Holliday Willey in Pretending to Be Normal) are high-functioning in the sense that they are better able to maintain social relationships than those with autism. Unlike those with autism, Aspies often score highly on measures of verbal intelligence.
When contemplating disorders such as Asperger's syndrome, there is a tendency to focus on negative aspects, such as difficulty in reading social cues. But many of those with Asperger's syndrome have positive traits as well, which has led some people to question whether it should be viewed as a difference rather than a diso

- Smoking was everywhere, from airplane interiors to hospitals to the neighborhood breakfast bar. And its negative health effects were not widely acknowledged.
- The typical family had a working father and stay-at-home mother. Society and economics was geared to support that lifestyle.
- Gays were well-closeted and few dared to peek out. Those who did were often openly shunned.
- Conditions like ADD/ADHD and Aspergers and many others were undiagnosed and even bipolar disorder seemed less that understood by most.
- Most houses had a single telephone (though some people illegally added another independently purchased phone off their single land line).
- Most homes had a single TV – B&W and not usually larger than 20". You ha

“When I left high school, I had all my plans to go to college, but I had no money. And I decided then, the best thing for me to do is not worry about getting money to go to college — I will educate myself. I walked down the street, I walked into a library, I would go to the library three days a week for ten years and I would educate myself. It’s all FREE, that’s the great thing about libraries! Most of you can afford to go to college, but if you wanna educate yourself completely, go to the library and educate yourself. When I was 28 years old, I graduated from Library.”

So spoke the recently departed Ray Bradbury, a seminal (possibly the seminal) American fantasy & science fiction writer. Today, aspiring sci-fi and fantasy writers study his novels and short stories as their core ed

I'll start this new journal with some questions.
What do you think about the ending on Dawn of the Dragon?
Do you think they should continue the story?
Recently I have been suspicious about the actions of those that hold the rights of Spyro (Activition, or whoever has his rights).
First of all yes I suspect that maybe they could continue the trilogy (Regardless of what some people said about it; "The game ended in Dawn of the dragon".)
Then they where actually going to made a movie and TV series (Again, regardless of what some say), and like the movie from The legend series it was cancelled.
I mean, they didn't wanted to do a movie about The Legend series, and now when they see that they have the best game of Spyro on history; why do they cancel it...this leads to another thing (some might hate me because of this), Skylanders isn't a Spyro game.
Why, because they only use Spyro as an appearance, not as

From The Dragon's Mouth – Twenty-Seventh Edition
It struck me by surprise again yesterday how small most of us really are in the grand scheme of things. I was sitting in the car waiting to get home from town, when I suddenly noticed that dozens of cars were passing us every second in other lanes. Now, it wasn't the dozens of cars passing by which really led me to have any unusual philosophical ideas….nor did they directly facilitate any creative thinking in my mind. Cars have always been on the highway; but what made me start to think about all of this in a brand new way was when I began to think about the drivers of the cars, if I had ever met them or would ever meet them, and, if I did, would ever be able to identify them as being owner of one of the cars that sped past me.
This brought in an entirely new way to think of things. It made me realize how wrapped up most of us are in our own personal and sometimes petty lives…concerned about things which matter to us,

There is no cosmic law that states artists must suffer many long years and demeaning day-jobs before a window of opportunity cracks open just enough to hop on through.
Fellow deviant Brian Kesinger is a case in point.
His first “day-job” in 1996—he was hired straight out of his senior year of high school—was drawing Tarzan for Disney.
Brian stayed at Disney and he considers every day there a part of his ongoing education as an artist. He most recent

The internet is full of wonderful tools and services. These are the tools and services I wish everyone used:
1. Password safe.
This amazing little program ensures you'll never forget how to log into any of your accounts ever again. It creates a file that stores lists of accounts (along with the password and more) however you see fit to arrange them. It locks the file with one master password, which I suggest you make fairly strong. http://xkcd.com/936/
2. Gmail and Google+.
It's no secret that I love Google, but I have my reasons. Gmail is a great email service. Plus in this current day, an email address ending in "@gmail.com" clearly belongs to someone whom knows their way around the Internet. Additionally, with a Gmail account, you can si

I can't go any further. It's not you, it's the STD you've contracted from so many ignorant people breeding and recycling their ignorance on your majestic soil. It's the corporate gameshow you're starring in. When I was younger you looked so much prettier, but I understand now my immature mind was befuddled by your elementary-school history-book makeup and yoo-es-eh action-flick propaganda.
It's not because of your the three ring circus politics in the news right now, it's not because my 'left-wing' leader is a fraud. It's not because the 'right-wing' frontrunners are a mixture of mystic shaman and circus clowns. It's not because you tried to be the "world police" and ended up the "world mall-cop". It's not even the fact that your governing bodies have less mental faculties than that of a common high school student. It's because the majority of your people, though well-meaning, are actually taking you seriously still. It's beca

Why Have Dragons Changed EditorialDragons; the fierce beasts tearing up the proverbial countrysides, resting in dark caves, seen as the ultimate form of antagonist in classical fantasy stories. They certainly are designated as the classic embodiment of evil, obviously referring to the serpent of genesis, and they have maintained that design through countless variations of size, color, identity, and/or history. Why then do most modern representations of the dragon instill almost every emotion besides threatened and fear? I mean, there are occasional evil dragons, but even they are usually motivated by something, which in and of itself suggests that its not doing antagonist actions simply to be hindering, but rather like a person who is placed in a position where they have to do something drastic. Why has the slithering, flying, swimming, destructive, killer carnivore become more of a symbol of wisdom and beauty in recent history?Well lets find out.Why Have Dragons Changed Editorial2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Old Friend, New Mystery-Dragon TF"What are we doing, again?" Alfie rolled his eyes and thought; "we're going for a walk. The voice said; "but you hate walks."Old Friend, New Mystery-Dragon TF4 months ago in Literature Features More Like This
It wasn't a complete lie. Alfie HAD hated walks, before Nhexa started talking to him.
That was a memorable day: he had gone to sleep in class (history with Mr. Fix) and had jerked awake when a voice had yelled; "WAKE UP!!!" He had jerked off the desk like he'd been electrocuted, amid gales of laughter from his classmates. However, when he realised that wasn't a schizophrenic, but was a host to a living, chatty, incredibly helpful little spirit, he had perked up considerably.
And so, he and Nhexa walked. And talked. And thought. And after a while, Nhexa said; "Are you alright?" Alfie stopped. "Why do you ask?"
"You seem distracted."
"Oh, come on. I'm in your head, for crying out loud. I can see your every thought," his voice took on a low, creepy tone. " Every little desire, locked away in that joke you call a mi..."
"Alright!" Alfie yelled, telepath
