I just returned from an overnight backpacking trip to an area of the Uinta Mountain range I'd never visited before. The glacial carved canyons are littered with natural alpine lakes, lakes that can be a great place to watch a day end.

Teapot Lake, Utah.

A fiery sunset photographed a few weeks ago along the shores of the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The crew on the boat returning to the marina seemed to be as impressed with saturated sky as I was, truly a memorable sunset. In the bottom left you can see a smudge of darker colored smoke, drifting through the dry air from some of the local wildfires.

Albion Basin in Little Cottonwood Canyon is littered with a variety of wildflowers. I caught these Indian Paintbrush in the foreground as the setting sun hit some of the Wasatch's Peaks.

Ostler Peak in Utah's High Uintas mountain range catches the last rays of a sunset. The smoke from the fires spread across the state give the unobstructed sunset light a fiery orange haze, adding to the drama of an already dramatic landscape. You can see the nearly full moon making an early appearance in the top left of the image.

The best sunset I've seen in years. Taken last night on the shores of the Great Salt Lake, Utah. There was a smoky haze in the air from local wildfires that softened the light so even the brightest highlights weren't blown out. Sunsets this good are hard to predict, but as a photographer it doesn't get much better than this. I hope you like it!

I've spent all of my life within a couple hundred miles of the Uinta Mountain range and am continuing to find new and amazing places. This image gives a sense of how remote and rugged this range can be. To get a sense of scale check out the person in the orange shirt in the trees below the left lake. See them?

This was taken a few weeks ago back at what I'm sure many of you will now recognize as Sun Dial Peak, reflecting in the peaceful waters of Lake Blanche. I think the two make a pretty nice pair.
