My favorite place yet in the picturesque Wasatch Mountains of northern Utah.

Sun Dial Peak is earning it's name as the sun set on a crystal Autumn day.

This was taken a few weeks ago back at what I'm sure many of you will now recognize as Sun Dial Peak, reflecting in the peaceful waters of Lake Blanche. I think the two make a pretty nice pair.

Naturalist Basin, Utah.

I've spent all of my life within a couple hundred miles of the Uinta Mountain range and am continuing to find new and amazing places. This image gives a sense of how remote and rugged this range can be. To get a sense of scale check out the person in the orange shirt in the trees below the left lake. See them?

Albion Basin in Little Cottonwood Canyon is littered with a variety of wildflowers. I caught these Indian Paintbrush in the foreground as the setting sun hit some of the Wasatch's Peaks.

I had about 14 hours straight of nature photography today attempting to capture Utah's spectacular Fall Colors, from sunrise to this amazing sunset, it was a memorable day.

Ostler Peak in Utah's High Uintas mountain range catches the last rays of a sunset. The smoke from the fires spread across the state give the unobstructed sunset light a fiery orange haze, adding to the drama of an already dramatic landscape. You can see the nearly full moon making an early appearance in the top left of the image.

We went searching for fall colors and found some yesterday. The Maple in the area have some of the brightest reds I've seen since moving to Utah.

Who's ready for a hike??

I entered this into the Elite Artists group [link] Autumn photo contest.

I chose this image because it presents many of the facets of Autumn that make it a great time of year. A beautiful variety of colors, a sense of exploring, a path beckoning one to keep hiking and soaking up the saturated colors that are unique to these few weeks. Sometimes an image can describe that Fall feeling better than words ever could.
