[Mini-Tutorial]Posing Long Bone ChainsSince the smartprop tutorial got me an astonishing number of faves, watches, and page views, I gather the forum is not filling everyone's tutorial needs. Please feel free to request additional text tutorials for DS4.5 and Genesis here. I'm fully of the opinion that information should be free and competition should be based on merit, not on knowledge control. With that said, it has to be something you're willing to see in text-only format, and some requests will be declined ("Build A Working Giant Mech From Start to Finish" is something I technically know but one, I've never done it, and two, it would take too long to do a tutorial).[Mini-Tutorial]Posing Long Bone Chains2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Many of you probably own items such as the Genesis Fantasy Wrap, which has a ton of bones but no ERC pose controls. Here's an easy way to manage those. Hopefully some of you already know about this, because you bought the Chain Blades, which basically include this tutorial written on a giant prop that loads from the

Photography Troubleshooting: FiltersThis week we bring you another issue of Photography Troubleshooting to hopefully give you some tips and explanations behind how to make use of some photography accessories. If you have a question, query or any thoughts you wish to see discussed just drop us a comment or note!Photography Troubleshooting: Filters3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
"The use of filters, how to pick them and examples of situations where they would be helpful...."
Hi moria330, filters are a good way of diversifying your photographic opportunities without spending a great deal of money (though, granted, many of the better quality filters can get to be relatively expensive).
In film photography, filters were used a lot more extensively then they are today thanks to the nature of the medium.
For example colour filters were used for white balance purposes on colour films that were balanced for different light types, so, you could shoot artificial light balanced film under daylight if you had a filter that corrected for it.
A NEW art school- a few thoughtsHey everyone. I've been thinking a lot about art schools and how we learn as artists. So much so, that I'm at the point where I think I want to start an "online art school". Why the quotation marks? Because I'm still not sure if "School" is the right word for this new website I want to create. Without giving out much information because this is all a bit early, I want to talk about the motivations and goals we're trying to address with this future site. I said "we" on purpose. I have a business partner in this and his background is in creating online education (not artistic) schools from the I.T. side of things. Thank goodness also, because I know nothing about that side of things.A NEW art school- a few thoughts2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I guess you could say things started when I wrote my first book, "Creating Characters with Personality". While there are many, many drawings I would love to redraw for that book, I still like that book and get great responses from it because of one thing: the viewpoint I chose on that book was to

Let me tell you, picking a winner for this contest has been REALLY HARD. I love all the finalists so much, and for different reasons! I'm kind of excited that we ended up with such a great representation of talent across three media (manipulation, traditional, and digital!). All all three finalists had really interesting and pointed write-ups, too! I've been pulling my hair out the last few days trying to pick, but I have finally chosen!
The winner is for her beautiful manipulation <strong>

Attention please also read: Submission Guidelines and Credit Guidelines
Criteria. That word is used a lot here at digital-artists, so let's talk about it.
The ever mysterious Criteria in our group. The bane to those of who have tried to submit, yet only left with a decline message signed "Criteria". As mysterious as the Whitechapel note signed "From Hell"
Ever present yet unobtainable, like some secret code written of the Illuminati.
Not quite... but a few have blown this criteria up to mythical urban legend proportions, and we need to deflate it a bit.
We have had a lot of questions about this ever elusive and undefinable "Criteria" and for good reason, we never told anyone what it was. We never gave anyone a proper explanation of it in regards to the group submissions. It

The winners are..... First of all, I know I said the contest would be canceled if there were not at least 25 entrants, but everyone did such an amazing job that it would be a shame to cancel it or diminish the prizes in anyway! The winners are.....2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This elegant, deceptively simple piece is a true eye catcher. I want this hanging on my wall, it's something I'd be proud to show off. It's colors are so subtle but at the same time make a very powerful statement to me. and the patterns are both very Greek and Art Noveau at the same time.
Hebe is only a minor character in my stories but she is the star of this contest thanks to her artist, who just so happens to be named Heba!!
Her other entry in the contest is also worth checking out. It has a very sad feel to it but captures a dramatic feeling and has definite style with that positioning!
They win the Grand Prize of $50 from me and 100 deviantArt points from :icon2tall4yall: who was so kind enou
Celestite Version 2 Feedback & HelpSo we've heard lots of good feeback and a couple people who couldn't reach the game. Here are the steps, make sure you've done them all:Celestite Version 2 Feedback & Help3 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. Follow download link to Mediaflare, once there click the big green download button.
2. Select save file and after it's done downloading right click the downloaded file and select Open.
3. A pop-up should come up asking you if you want to run or cancel so pick run.
4. From there you'll need to select where to save it, just go with the default.
5. Now head to your downloads folder to find the file called "Pokemon Celestile" which should have an icon that looks kind of like an orange gear. Click it and select run.
6. Now you should see a folder called "Pokemon Celestile" so open it.
7. Within the folder will be a file called "Game" with that orange gear icon again, click it to begin the game.
If you've followed all these steps and still nothing then I'm sorry but we don't know why it's not working for y
R.I.P. PockyIt's really hard for me to tell you this but Pocky passed away about 12 hours ago, at 1 pm Friday Oct 25th. I lost my balance in the colony cage and accidentally step on him who was behind me. He didn't die instantly. I thought he wouldn't. He could still fly and when I put him on my hand he had started panting. When I brought him inside my house, he had a fit then died.R.I.P. Pocky2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I can't stop crying now. I feel so horrible and hate myself. I miss him so much I can't stop crying and calling his name. It's so hard to accept his death. I can still feel him everywhere. Everything in my house reminds me of him. I can't sleep on my bed because I usually snuggled with him there before we went to sleep. I can't believe he had to go away like this. I feel so guilty no matter what I try to think of, no matter what my husband said. I can't even cry as harder as I want because he will be mad.
I don't know if Pocky knew his time would be up soon. But this month he wanted to cuddle more with me. He usually a

Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 63 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu

Or: How Spec-Lit Fucked Up A Perfectly Good Word.
Punk 'til you puke!
As a youth revolution punk was a solid fist full of fuck you! An angry, ugly, straight razor attack on the bloated excess of 1970's pop culture.
There was punk rock music from the likes of The Sex Pistols, Black Flag, and The Dead Kennedys.
There was punk cinema in films such as Repoman, Suburbia, and The Fabulous Stains.
There was punk lit, punk art, even a punk offshoot of gonzo journalism.
It was a way of life fueled by a belief that nothing is sacred, authority is never to be trusted, and most importantly, you can always Do It Yourself...better known as the DIY ethos.
In a word, punk is rebellion.
And I know a bit about words. Word have power. Word have strength. Words are the bits of

RULES FOR USING MY BASES AND PROPS:
- Please give me credit for what I have created. A link to my dA page in your description would be very appreciated, but just writing "base/props by base-o-holic" can be enough.
Edit: - If you're planning to use one of my bases as drawing reference, you should check whether I referenced it first and consider using the original.
Edit: - Most often I use stock photos from SenshiStock. If you decide to reference my base with her pose, I'd rather you credit her only or us both.
- You can edit my bases/props however you like.
- You can edit my bases/props and post them on your account only if you get my permission first.
- Unless stated otherwise, you can use parts of my bases (faces, legs, whatever) and mix them with other bases as long as creators of these other bases agree to it as well.
- You can't make any money with dolls on my bases (e.g. from prints or doll commissions).
- But you can exchange y
