This was one of the first concepts I made getting Mines of Moria off the ground.
I don't have as much experience doing environments as I do characters so I learned a lot from doing these early projections of key areas. I actually intended this doorway and the bridge inside this natural cave to be a unique POI, like a special place devoted to all the past Dwarven kings with all their portraits carved into stone. Dwarves had a huge respect for the natural formation of stonework, so art like buddhist relief sculptures were a big influence on this idea.
They liked the motif so much they just spammed it everywhere so all the doors in Moria have a dwarf head above it. It's kinda creepy, but I guess that's the point.
Another rare environment piece of mine, done for Caras Galadon. This was my interpretation of Galadriel's courtroom from the exterior, which was described as a giant mallorn tree in the middle of a clearing supporting many flets, reachable only by ladder.
Arwen Undomiel, daughter of Elrond and Celebrian, sister of Elladan and Elrohir, wife of Aragorn, mother of Eldarion and several daughters you'll notice she looks a lot like my version of Luthian, that's because Arwen was said to be Luthian's image, or Luthian reborn, also her life holds several parallels to Luthian's.
Utulië'n aurë! Auta i lómë! Aurë entuluva! "The night is passing! The day has come! Day will come again!"
(Elvish battle cry in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. Before the battle, Fingon cried out ‘Auta i lómë!’, to which the warriors responded ‘Utulië’n aurë!’. When Turgon made his retreat, the Men under Húrin’s command held the rearguard. Turgon’s last sight of Húrin was of the Man surrounded by a pile of dead orcs shouting ‘Aurë entuluva!’)
This is a hand-painted t-shirt, as a contest price for whose picture placed 1st in the "Between the lines" contest of , and . The credit for the idea goes to *LadyElleth. Only the sword is my idea, and the elf in the design is supposed to be Fingon. The tengwar transcription of the quote was also provided by her.
