Music NightBato, Warrior of the Southern Water Tribe, was glad to be home in the South Pole. So much had changed since he had left to fight in the war; many new settlers from their sister tribe in the North had relocated to the South to help in the rebuilding and a chance at a new life; there was even a small encampment of Fire Nation, mostly traders and former soldiers who now worked the large cargo ships.Music Night2 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
Bato entered one of the many new buildings, the tavern, and was greeted by the welcome heat of the indoors. Looking around, Bato noticed something odd. The tavern was usually a lively place, but tonight only a handful of men populated the tables.

It's much more than hats, although the hats help;
I love the Jägerkin's fiery self:
knowing their purpose, believing their truth
blessed with a monstery version of youth
outlasting mortals, surrounded by peers
having adventures for hundreds of years
living the moment, embracing the pain
convinced they've a right to be very vain.
In short, they're not me, although if I could
grow to be like them (in ways that are good,
generally free of mad potions and war),
people would notice and step aside, for
I'm already hands-down much more bizarre,
and, in my corner, I'd have the god Mars.

Love Song for a BookshelfWhen I woke up this morning,Love Song for a Bookshelf7 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I saw the sun shining
Off your warm golden grains.
And I knew I must love you.
The books on you were so tempting,
Their knowledge sent my head spinning,
I crashed round the bend.
And I knew I would love you.
In my mind I caressed you
Brushing fingers along book spines
While diving deep into my own novel,
And I thought I loved you.
But oh! The betrayal!
I screamed just a little
As you fell at my feet.
And I knew I could no longer love you.

Enter CHORUS and PHOEBE into the cave of the Delphic Oracle. The only entrance and exit is a pair of doors upstage center. Phoebe sits center stage. She looks into a scrying bowl and appears distraught when she foresees the will of the Fates. Little Soldier BoyMusic teased the ears of those living in Ba Sing Se's crowded streets, as performers danced through the roads, leaving melody's stringing behind and before them; a sense of joy and freedom radiated in the air as the celebrations continued from dusk to dawn. It had only been four months since freedom had swept over the world at the Fire Lord's defeat. Four months since the Dragon of the West had retired and taken up residents in Ba Sing Se. Four months since his growing nephew had taken the thrown to lead the Fire Nation away from war.Little Soldier Boy1 month ago in Short Stories More Like This

Tomorrow Is My Funeral ii Dave attempted to avoid the other members of the household for the first hour or so he was awake. He didn't touch the computer, and only tred the standard route to his wardrobe for fresh clothes, and then the bathroom. The sink was still a mess, so he hastily cleaned that out before showering. A little dye residue coloured the water, but not much. He washed it away without a second thought, and reached for the towel.Tomorrow Is My Funeral ii2 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
He was trying not to think about today too much. He would force himself to deal with everything, no matter what happened, and react accordingly. He would be John. Dave promised himself that. Today, of all days, he would suck it

He and Seer were still talkative, but now cared for you better than what you'd imagined. You never thought you'd enjoy dreaming so much. When you had a problem with anything, needed company or just were in a bad mood,he was here. To cuddle you, comfort you, talk with you. Those moments were the best. “Fahloe?” a Boy asked: her crush.
Fahloe blinked and looked over to him. His light Blue hair and eyes really stood out in the dark Class room. Their Uniforms were all White and red.
“Yes Kyu?” she gave him a soft smile. Her hands folded under her chin, while she looked over at him.
Red didn’t look good on Kyu, it clashed too much with his hair and eyes. But he never seemed to care about the school colors on him.
“Are you going to the club today?” he was lo

TorchlightThe problem with wearing sunglasses all the time was that everything looked darker than it actually was. The lights were pretty much always on in the Strider household - which was more than could be said for the water - and this racked up a heck of a bill. A heck of a bill that neither Strider was particularly fond of looking at. The last one was currently wedged up a red smuppet's ass, that was tucked away under the couch, nose protruding with intent.Torchlight2 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

I rolled over in my bed and looked up at the moon shining through the window and spoke softly to myself "Is it over yet?" My eyes starting tearing up and the room became blurry; the only thing I could think of was him. "You took the breath right out of me." I pulled the blankets over my head and checked my phone to surprisingly see a text message from you. I told myself not to read it; I would just end up crying more in the early night. It was only 10:30pm and I just wanted to sleep away my problems away. I tried to avoid your message and tried to message my best friend Jamie to seek help from her. She was the best at givin

Though we weren't connected,
I really cared for you.
This was so unexpected.
I know I wasn't the best,
But I really cared.
Now that you left,
At night,
I'm pretty scared.
When I heard you lost your pups,
I nearly cried.
When I knew you weren't
Coming back,
I thought you died.
Though I can't prove that you didn't,
If you did, rest in peace.
I miss your fuzzy fur,
And barking at night.
You used to love the pond.
If you come back,
I promise,
It will still be there,
Waiting for you.
When you caught that rabbit,
You gave us quite a scare.
I didn't know that you could hunt,
But I didn't care.
Now it gives me

Dave acted as if he didn't see this. But he definitely felt it trickle down his neck, leaving a grey sheen on his skin, and absorb into his t-shirt. His shoulders were damp, and the clean, white fabric had dirtied. He barely looked at it though. He insisted on dying his hair all by himself - Bro wasn't allowed to help with that - and he did, late at night when no one was awake and the last of the tobacco in Dad's pipe was burnt out.
The digital clock informed him it was two am. Dave barely looked at the green, uniform numbers flickering on the clock's face. He looked in the mirror, and ran a hand through his h
