I love those moments, when I sleep in the mountains, when the last lights of the sunset illuminate the peaks and the clouds :)

When your strolling along on the trail and then come upon a scene such as this you stop dead in your tracks. The magnitude and scale cannot be appreciated in a web image. Having these conditions to shoot just put the icing on the cake and it was something I will never forget. Standing here looking at the mountain unveiling itself from the fog only to be covered again within minutes, I felt extremely fortunate to capture this moment on camera as well as take it in for myself. Scenes like this are why I travel to see these grand landscapes and they don't happen very often. It's amazing that we were at one point in the fog at the bottom, drove above it and found ourselves amongst the clouds. It was absolutely heaven. To give some sense of scale, I'm going to guess that the waterfalls to the left on the grassy slopes are a few hundred feet high. Simply the most beautiful scene I've ever come across.

Mount Rainier national park- Washington.

This is the East face of Mont Blanc, The Roof of Europe!
Seen at dawn (5:51 am) from the Lac de Fenetres, in Switzerland.

Mont Blanc summit (on the left) is already quite far away. From this angle stands unchallenged, and majestic, the pyramidal shape of the Grandes Jorasses. Clearly visible are: Pointe Walker (4.208 m - 13.806 ft), Pointe Whymper (4.184 m - 13.727 ft) and Pointe Croz (4.110 m - 13.484 ft).

Mont Blanc massif never ceases to surprise, its archaic shapes are a journey through time.
