This is Goddess Urd from Ah! My Goddess manga series. She is the Goddess of the Past. In this super-deformed (SD) anime figure, I thought it would be fun to fashion the fun-loving Goddess after the wild Tina Turner in a concert singing pose.
It was a garage kit (GK) resin figure that I carved considerable details into the it. I also reshaped the legs and the wavy hair. The figure measures 5-3/8 inches tall. It was entirely hand-brushed by me using Model Master Acryl paints. The entire project took about three weeks, mainly for making all the little features and painting details as perfect as possible. I had a lot of fun designing her fashion.
1st shown entry of the FEZ Scout her bow signifies the two legendary beings the Pheonix and the Dragon. I wanted the bg to appear forest-y and the glowing lights can be the fire-y attributes from the Pheonix bow.
Process: - sketched and inked with G-tech pen and a .5 gel pen - scanned - colored in Gimp with mouse (well yeah XD )

TITLE: Angelic Goddess Belldandy Believes in Solidarity
Belldandy's always-positive outlook reminds me that hope springs eternal. In a tiny form, she floats atop pile of multiple grains from Lands of Plenty from around the World, and wishes that People of the World unite and work together to fight against poverty and hunger.
More abstractly, this could be viewed as a much larger-than-life goddess gracing over the land, with the grains as the surfaces of the Earth and the upper edge as the curvature of the planet. The areas Belldandy has graced turned from dark to light.
ABOUT THE FIGURE:
This Belldandy is a resin figure that I custom built and painted. It was customized from a garage kit (GK). The modifications/build, assembly and paint work took over 100 hours, over a span of nine months. She is entirely hand-brushed by me.
The figure is 1/12-scale, measuring 6.0 inches tall (15.2 cm), excluding the snowcap mountain base. Her face is about the size of pinky fingernail. For a sense of the tiny scale, please see Making of Angelic Belldandy.
The following list shows significant modifications I made to the basic GK: - This Belldandy's wings were donated to another figure I made: Custom Urd Figure, Pose 3 - Extensive putty work on the existing hair pieces. - Added hair strands and the bangs. - Modified her back.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER:
For those who do not recognize the character, she is Belldandy, Goddess of the Present, from the manga/anime Ah! My Goddess (character copyright: Kousuke Fujishima).
My entry for the Tomb Raider Reborn Contest. The title is a play on the official tagline "A Survivor Is Born," which I used as my concept for this drawing. Really, Lara has become so iconic over the years that she is truly a legend...
The story of the game is how Lara transforms from a frighten young woman into a fierce fighter and survivor. I used a cave and water setting as that could be plausible for a scene from the game, and also because caves and deep water are traditionally symbolic of death, rebirth and self discovery.
Upon watching the trailer, the game seemed to have a gritty, edgy sort of feel to it. I tried to convey/interpret this with rough linework, detailing and colouring methods that departs a bit from my norm. I could have played it safe, but I thought it was in the spirit of the competition to push my comfort zone
