Something fun! SBARGHey, Homestuck fans! If you have wanted to play SBURB or SGRUB, then here you go:Something fun! SBARG3 years ago in Personal More Like This
http://sbarg.tumblr.com/ SBARG is an ARG (Alternate Reality game) in which you basically make your own session in SBURB and SGRUB!
You can team up. Here is where you can enter: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/embeddedform?formkey=dFRtcGRCOHJfTGdkR1VRZHJ4blJBTFE6MQ
Put your real info in there - don't worry, it won't be given out! Then put down a Pesterchum handle or Trollian or Skype if you don't have either (basically any IMing agent) in the second box!
Then hit go. On the prototyping, you can collect two items in real life, don't freak out about it, it's not on the computer or anything.
This is all that has been done so far, but the game will continue at 10 PM EST (don't worry if you're not up around that time, you can enter later.)
If you want to find team members, feel free to comment down here with your Handle or Trollian or IMing agent!
EDIT: You can now find out your title and aspect! I ended

About critiqueSome time ago I realized something about the feedback on my artwork. Before I say anything I'd like to express how happy I am with the fact that I get immense positive feedback on my artwork. I am!! But..About critique3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are times I know there is something really wrong with my picture, something I really don't like, but I can't see the mistake (because it's always hardest to see if it's my picture). Then I hope somebody else will tell me, sometimes I even write in artists description "tell me what's wrong in thiis, critique me" or something and... Well, what I get is "good as always". Then I think to myself "damn, maybe they are right and I'm imagining mistakes where there is nothing especially wrong with this pic". But then I see that pictures I don't like for some reason,do get significantly less favourites than others. (for real! xD) I asked some fellow artists why they don't exactly point out the mistakes and I was surprised to hear that they are....afraid to! Yes, it seems that so
My Two cents on Portfolio ReviewsYou know, I see quite a bit of portfolio on a regular basis, and even more so when I go to comic con and CTN.My Two cents on Portfolio Reviews2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This time around was the same thing, I saw quite a few portfolios. Some good ones and some that miss the mark.
There were a few in particular that caught my eye.. a few extremely good ones, and a few that just didn't work, and I wanted to try and share my opinions about portfolios in general.
This is just my point of view, based on MY experience and definitely not a definitely law, rule, or "must do". Just what I noticed in many student's and young professional's portfolios.
The first thing that strikes me is how similar portfolios can be from one student to another..I can almost always tell when one student is from Art Center, San Jose State, Otis, Sheridan or any other major school. It's a good thing and a bad thing. Mainly a bad thing though
Just a few personal thoughts on portfolios since I just came back from comic con and saw a ton over there.
Your portfolio should be a r
Instagram Can Sell Your Photos Without Paying YouEDIT 19/12/12: Instagram has responded.Instagram Can Sell Your Photos Without Paying You2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Though the language they use seems to want to overly passify rather than address issues. "Your photos are your photos and we respect that." is a nice sentiment but does not necessarily exclude "we have the right to license and use your stuff even though you own the content" By signing up to instagram you are giving them permission to do this even though you do technically own the content you are submitting.
I'm not going to flail my arms about doom, but I will say, artists be aware. Not just about this, but about any contracts you sign. There is some real sketchy language in the fine print here that needs to be clarified or changed as of right now. More than just an "everything's fine, don't worry" letter. Company lawyers have a tendency to try to take the largest chunk of whatever they can, and only back off when their actions are made public and they ar

Ripper StreetThe, surprisingly good, Ripper Street returned to begin its second series last night.Ripper Street2 years ago in Personal More Like This
When it first showed up last year, I believed it was shamelessly riding on the success of the Sherlock Holmes movies. Watch the opening credits and you'll understand why:
However, while those that made the opening are obviously Robert Downey Jr fans, the writers of the series are more interested in telling their own stories.
Ripper Street is a very, very good crime drama, and seems to have production values on par with the genre behemoths produced over in America.
It's set in late 19th century London and follows a trio of lawmen from Whitechapel's H Division: the well-to-do Detective Inspector Reid, his right-hand man Detective Sergeant Drake and a rogue Pinkerton agent, Captain Jackson.
Despite the title, this series is not about chasing Jack the Ripper. They did something far more interesting with the legend in using the panic that it created as a backdrop.
Broken ToysI love Team Fortress 2, especially the visual style, so when they started releasing toys of the characters, I had to start a collection.Broken Toys2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I had planned to nab the whole team, but I may reconsider in light of THIS:
What happened? Well, I dared try to bend the thing's knee to put it in a pose where it could stand freely, as I had done with the Pyro figure I bought earlier, and the Heavy. Nary an ounce of pressure was applied and SNAP.
It was intended to bend, I can see that from the exposed hinge, but the thing's made from such cheap plastic, and the hinge's connecting "pin" so thin, that it couldn't take anyone touching it.
Not sure what to do about this. Can't really send it back to the vendor I bought it from as it was in perfect condition on purchase.
Hey, Valve? You out there? Is your console going to be this sturdy?
Remember RememberPeople across the pond often explain Britain's "Bonfire Night"/"Guy Fawkes Night" as the UK's version of their July 4th celebration.Remember Remember2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Penchant for detonating sparking, explody things aside, they're not at all similar.
One is about a nation celebrating its independence (or the defeat of alien invaders, depending how strong your grip is on reality) the other is basically a nation trolling terrorists, rubbing their faces in failure.
That the thwarting of the November 5th gunpowder plot is remembered is arguably one of the two reasons why the Brits are universally unafraid of terrorism (the second being that Fair Blighty has faced down the largest war machines the world has ever seen. A random yahoo that wants to blow himself up is an irritant by comparison). You leave the nations of the UK alone and they fight among themselves in a 600mile long drunken brawl. However, if an outside force so much as prods them with a stick in a manner that they find remotely unpleasant, they unify

Long time no see! Okay, okay, not terribly long. :> We're well into Julyhow is everyone's summer coming along? What sort of things have you been up to so far? I hope you're all having a great time and enjoying the sun. Thus far, my summer has been fantasticlots of swimming, fishing, hiking, motorcycle riding, starry nights and watermelon, haha.
I'm making this journal for those of you who have followed my horror story 'Hipshot' (and anyone who'd like to start following it). After putting the project on hold for several months, I have revised the first four parts (and oh man, what an improvement, seriously), and updated them today, in preparation for the release of the fourth part of the story tomorrow evening. If you've read Hipshot before and plan on reading the 4th section, I think you'll enjoy it much better if you re-read the story beforehand, now that it's been revised, and refresh it in your memory. Check back tomorrow

Looking back6 years. I've been here for six years. I could say it feels like I joined yesterday, but it's just not the case. It feels like an eternity. One thing remained the same through the years: a strong desire of improvement. Back in 2006, I expected harsh critique. I expected to be demolished by my peers. To have my technique corrected. Well, since this is deviantArt, such a thing did not happen, except for a few rare, unexpected, welcome times. I've had my share of "nice" "lol xD" "i really like it" and comments containing only a smiley. Part of the game, okay. Most of the time, I received good comments, compliments and praise.
Then, the turning point of my deviantart experience, you guessed it: The World War comics. Started as a joke, something to make my few watchers laugh. Not much thought and effort was really put into it, as it was supposed to b

Story behind it: we had to choose a random scene from a story we made for our Visual Development course at Ringling, and so my story "The Mimic" is about an explorer coming back from a long expedition in Antarctica to visit his little sister and her fiance. But there is something pretty uncool about him that they can't put a finger on.

Arkham Origins, innitial impressionWith me generally getting angry at every recent title, I went back to Arkham City and played on that for a bit, just to make sure I hadn't suddenly become crap at games.Arkham Origins, innitial impression2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Arkham Origins really does play like a dog.
Combat and movement are nowhere near as sweet as they were in the previous two titles.
"Ah, but that's because it's a younger Batman. He's rough around the edges, not as slick as he is in Asylum and City"
Bullsh*t. You don't INTENTIONALLY make a game LESS INTUITIVE. WB Entertainment can't use that as an excuse for dropping the ball on the gameplay front. Something everyone seems to be doing at the moment.
This game's going to have to fart rainbows before the end, otherwise I'm writing it off.

Due to the number of notes I've received asking me "How do I Draw and what media I use" I've decided to write a more detailed description of how I CG or Draw.Lol it would be nice if ppl actually scrolled down and read my comment ,I always indicate the programs I've used .
.What Program do you use?.
When it comes to CG ,I always use Opencanvas 4.06 and Photoshop CS.Without them my art will...be boring XD;;.Opencanvas is my favorite program,if you still haven't tried it yet, go ahead and download the trial and try it for urself 8'O!This program is great for inking digitally, it's wayyyyy better then ps in that domain , it has more pressure control and the lines come smoothly ,perfect for lineart !
The coloring tools are also one of a kind, they are easy to use and the "water brush" tool is easy for blending. All in all it's a great program and it's easy to handle ,with an reasonable amount of options and t

I haven't been logged on here in nearly a year. Whoops! I promised I would be back and do more awesome stuff, but I'm afraid those promises will have to fall short. So much has happened in the past almost-year that I won't be able to tell you without writing a book, so I'll do my best to sum it all up in a few sentences that probably won't give enough detail. Oh well!
Since I last logged in, I have gone through my final year of high school and am now graduated! I'm on to bigger and better things! Tomorrow I start college and will major in Digital Gaming and Media Design in a few years. I'm very excited, and nothing will stop me
SPACE DANDY?Space Dandy is a new animated tv series By Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop/Samurai Champloo). It's a pretty ground-breaking show in that it's the first japanese animated TV series with a world-wide premiere (starting in America FIRST). It's personally my favorite, 2D animated tv series airing in the states right now.SPACE DANDY?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
As a consumer of animated content on TV for decades, I (like many I'm sure) am quite used to getting quality stuff finished and packaged, so I can take things things like SD for granted. However, as a Tv animation series producer/director, I know how incredibly challenging & difficult it is to produce/direct a single episode from a hand-drawn, animated action or comedyTV series (be it 11 minutes format or 22 minutes). So watching what Watanabe and his crew are doing from a production/planning/execution standpoint is a lesson in humility for me. This is high-level stuff for a TV budget and it makes a me a little envious that the guys across the pond have i
