These photos were taken in downtown Chicago, friday night of ACEN 2011.

-----------------------------------
Jia*Jem had asked me if I wanted to do this cosplay with her. I flipped out I was so happy! These costumes are SUPER 80's with the low plunge v-neck and the big hair! Who could say no? I was in charge of making the bodysuits and styling wigs, while Jia was in charge of accessories (gloves, boots, armor, etc.) and Daguru made our guns. It was an absolute blast being able to cosplay with Jia! I had loads of fun! We were really surprised by how many people actually recognized the characters we were cosplaying as.

I'd have to say my absolute favorite part of these costumes are the awesome shoulder armor that Jia had made. Those things freaking rock! They are all sparkly and spikey~ I felt so badass wearing this, like, HARDCORE MOFO!! The shoes are snazzy as well. I hope I have another chance to wear this with Jia again, it just wouldn't be the same wearing the costume solo.

Selina is such a iconic character and he captured her so well that I wanted to pay tribute.

I started with a base black latex suit and made the gloves with the claws, hood with the catears, and goggles. I tried to find as accurate as boots as I could, and ordered a leather whip as well.

In the future I definitely would like to do a rooftop shoot with this costume, gosh the possibilities are near endless!

Something about this cosplay ~ I bought the wig twice lol . The first wig that I ordered is too light because they sent me the wrong color . :( Till now I'm still hoarding the wig . Shall find some time to take pix of all my wigs and sell em for good .

I started making the costume a week before the photoshoot which was quite last minute because I have lots of assignments and rarely have time for fabric shopping ! The black top is made out of black leather , kinda expensive but easy to work with . The dark red / maroon sleeves and pleated skirt are made of velveteen , save me lots of time because it doesn't fray ~~~ yeah ! 8) Only get to stick on the gold laces a day before the shoot ... sewing machine needle broke last minute and I don't have spare lol Lucky I have UHU Glue !

Made the fan out of cardboard lololol

It was really fun shooting with the rest of my Kiraboshi team ~ spent most of the time checking them out lol Their costumes have so many holes HOHOHO

I have had many yards of this dark wine red vinyl laying around that I got from Joann's Halloween clearance. I pondered over which characters I could make with it and I-no stood out. I think the color is a little too dark, but in photos with direct sun it looks pretty close to the sprite artwork in the game. Since a lot of reference images of I-no differ from picture to picture (ie: in some she has a black border on the bottom of her dress, others don't -- some have more buckles on the hat, others don't) so I picked the parts that I liked from each reference and mixed them together. Not to mention, the hat design from Isuka was a lot easier since it only had one buckle instead of 3.

This is my first costume in which I didn't alter a commercial pattern. I made all the patterns myself, and even sculpted the rings and buckles myself out of sculpey. All the black belts and belt loops where tedious and time consuming. The dress was a bit of a difficult task in construction, but I'm happy with the overall look. The jacket is fully lined and has wire in the front seems attaching to the collar to help retain shape. The boots have the heels painted with acrylic paint, and clear coated on top. The boot covers are glued on with a strong epoxy.

I've been wanting to take new photos of my I-no for quite some time, and I finally got around to it this weekend! My friend Nick made a lovely guitar prop for me and I had it since the beginning of summer, but I never had the oppertunity to have photos taken with it. So this weekend my friend Claire and I set up my camera in the basement of the old duplex she's living in. I loved how haphazard the basement was with random wires, sawdust, and random cobwebs! The atmosphere was just perfect I thought. I brought my camera and tripod and set the white balance and shutter speed while Claire would push the shutter for me, and position shots. I give her full credit since she was the one who actually took the shot ^^

Post-editing by me; edited in Aperture 3.

I think I'm going to buy new socks in a darker pink (these are getting old anyways) and remake the scarf to match. The shades of pink will be less accurate in person, but it won't get overexposed to white in photos, hopefully. They're pretty white here, so, I wonder if a deeper pink would look better for sun/high exposure.

TL;DR
