what is halloween ?
if you search at the wikipedia page you will find no direct hint what it is and where it comes from.

one definition that has prevailed is, to scare the bad demons away to get a good start into the new year. at least it's the one for, what we have in germany called "fasching"

the idea to create a mask for halloween is not very new but my objective was to build one that even scare the shit out of the badest bed- and wardrobemonsters

if i reached this goal, well decide on your own :)

P.S.
it's paper and yes the jaw can be moved

p.s.s.
i'm not a cosplayer, so I feel a bit sheepish about it, to upload this ^^;
so sry about the improvised background and pose ^^;

(building time: 2 weeks with three attempts)

I'll add this to scraps latter. Entry for the Draw this Again Challenge, not really a drawing but needle felted soft sculptures

The before can be seen here- [link]

I just thought it would be fun to show my improvement/progress in 3 years on needle felting.

The little lovebird done in 2007 was one of the first things that I made, after 2 dragons & a dog lol. So if I'm remembering right it was the 4th needle felted thing I ever made.

The one in 2010 was the first with clay parts which I think I'll be doing more of in the future. Now I just need to make a lovebird this year so I can see how I've improved from 2010 to now ^_^

Some say that the Fire God Ho-Masubi was the most violent of the gods.
Known for burning empires to the ground, he was feared by all.
He would travel at rapid speeds, leaving a trail of destruction behind him.
His bellow would strike fear into the prey, and crush all hope within.
Using the power of fire and his cunning wits, he crafted the most powerful weapons, and within them, the essence of flames.

Although blind, he would hunt his prey by wildly slashing anything that stands before him.
With claws that pierce like blades, Ho-Masubi not only kills, he destroys.

Again, made the story up, but apparently the name is the real japanese fire god. D: He wasn't always though, he was kind, giving warmth and light to the people, but violent when angered, known for burning down cities. D:

Got the pose from here. Not sure if it's copyrighted if I change how it looks, though. Oh well. Never going to win anyway. xDD

BTW, not sure why I gave it gills. For fun, I guess. xDD

Name: Ammit
Gender: Female
Animals: Hippopotamus (back) + Lion (front) + Crocodile (head)
Creators: Ancient Egyptians

Ammit is female but I totally dig manes and it would look so bland without it.
The lion part of her is sometimes substituted with a cheetah but brute strength appealed to me more than speed. Also, HIP-HOP-O-POTAMUS LEGS LOL!

The only things that could have made this the ultimate destroyer from Africa would be: Black Mamba, (flying) Great White Shark, and Ebola.

It's a good thing there's no submit limit in this contest cause I'm on a roll. Perhaps not the best entries, but it's fun to do.

here are my other entries:
water: [link]
earth: [link] )
air: [link]

i've been painting this all day, and i couldn't wait to post it.

for this second entry i chose DEATH as a planar theme. i'm really happy of the way it turned out, and i think this one is quite better than the first entry, but well, i'm not gonna judge it...

anyways, i've tried to create something a bit more abstract and creepy but at the same time add some symbology like the scissors and that thing to use puppets. also the idea was that it would be a statue from the feet to the weist and that he could only move the thoracic cavity and the arms and heads. my fav part is the way that the arms become sleeves.

I really hope you like it. and if it doesn't win, at least i could use this as BLACK-DEATH-BROOTAL-METAL CD cover. :D

enjoy!

In the full moon, two summoners chant an ancient poem that summons a hideous and terrible creature, waking the giant beast, that slept underneath the earth. The monster, with it's poisonous wells of toxic chemicals and acids will burn and destroy all life if not stopped and killed.
