I did this commission featuring Gold Key's classic hero, MAGNUS ROBOT FIGHTER, for Rick Fortenberry, a comic book seller with a taste for the classics! It was actually meant to be a Leeja commission in the Russ Manning tradition, but I wanted to put Magnus in there too.
The machine holding Leeja captive is really the dashboard to a 1964 Ford Falcon. Who says we artists don't have a sense of humor?
This is a 11x17" illustration that was inked primarily with a Raphael 8404 brush and Speedball Super Black India Ink on 500 series bristol smooth board. I also used Pelican graphic white on the Earth's clouds.

After my little break (pun intended) im back doing my T.L.I.I.D pictures and catching up with commissions
This weeks theme was "As the new year begins, I think of fresh starts, like perhaps a brand-new #1! So suggest lesser-known Marvel characters that you’d like to see be given the Marvel Now treatment and our artists will work up a cover of their first issue"
this piece is a homage to a George Perez and Alex Ross piece.

page 10-11 from a short story I colored for Bizarre new world. its titled 'SDCC' which is short for San Diago Comic con (derp) I believe its going to be published by Ape entertainment.
The series is about the aftermath of humans developing the ability to fly, it has some great stories in it, this one was particularly fun because it focused on fan involvement in cons etc. the story follows some of the series main characters as they attend Sdcc, whereupon they attend a live recreation organised by the convention of the famous artwork by alex ross [link] (using differant characters ofcourse) with celebrities and others in costume. something that can only be acheived with flight.
theres a whole bunch of cosplayers who look like real characters, I had to keep theyre colors fairly ambiguous or wrong to avoid copyright infringment. some of the characters are completely redesigned and have differant names.
