My Star Wars vs. Aliens storyI've been wanting to do this for a long time - and here it is at long last - my fan story/art featuring a confrontation between Darth Vader, a squad of Stormtroopers and a group of angry Alien Xenomorphs (and a surprise character also makes an appearance at the end!).My Star Wars vs. Aliens story10 months ago in Personal More Like This
This story ties together some of the pin-up pieces I've posted mashing up these two sci-fi franchises. I'm a big fan of them both - and this is my homage to them, as well as my hope that a meeting could someday find its way onto the big screen.
The set up for this story is as follows:
Following the fall of the Republic and rise of the Empire, Darth Vader continues to fall ever deeper into the abyss of the Dark Side of the Force. His efforts to enforce his master's will and lust for power lead him to delve further into the lore of the mysterious Sith.
Learning from his evil Emperor that former Sith apprentice, Darth Maul, had overcome a nest of Xenomorphs as a right of passage, Vader has search
International CoversThe UK Games Expo was held last weekend, and I finally got a couple of my old Fighting Fantasy books signed by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson.International Covers1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The authors also held a seminar where they spoke about the early years of the Games Workshop, which they founded. During this talk, they touched on the cover art of the game books, and how their publishers wanted illustrations of fairies and mushrooms and pretty things, while Livingstone and Jackson wanted imagery of things that would tear your face off.
They won. More or less.
Generally, all the FF game books have the same covers wherever they are released. So, Deathtrap Dungeon looks like this in most corners of the world:

ARTGERMINATION - My Digital Art ChatroomARTGERMINATION - My Digital Art Chatroom3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Many people has asked me about the rationale behind my nickname - Artgerm in many occasions. To me it is more than just a nick, it is actually my mission statement in my art journey, which I would like to see people get "infected" by my works and inspire them to create art. I've been drawing for the past 20 years, in which 16 years in digital medium. Art has already been part of my life long time ago - it is my passion, my profession and my life. Although majority of my time has been devoted to the commercial projects and my family and leave me very little time to impart my art knowledge to others outside of my studio, my mission statement has never and will never change.
As a result, I've decided to setup a deviantArt chatroom recently called Artgermination for all digital art discussions, which I put in a good amount of my time daily to interact with other dA members, sharing with them my journey in art and con
Spirit Day: A Bi VoiceIn honour of Spirit Day, I would like to share something about my own experiences with people's reactions to my sexuality. When asked my sexual orientation, I say 'bisexual' simply because it's more concise than the things I find attractive in a person don't tend to be gender specific so what does or doesn't dangle between a person's legs is as irrelevant to me as the colour of their eyes or the size of their feet when it comes to assessing whether or not they are physically, intellectually or emotionally appealing.Spirit Day: A Bi Voice3 years ago in Personal More Like This
That doesn't sound too crazy, right? I mean, plenty of people are bisexual. It shouldn't be a big deal. But for some reason, it often is. I've always been pretty comfortable talking about my sexuality in relevant contexts. I'm not confrontational or militant about it, I don't wear an "I'm bisexual, lets talk about me!" t-shirt and I never felt the need to come out, because I always figured that if people want to make assumptions about who I find attractive, that's th

Ethics and Decision MakingGuuuuysss, I honestly think this class is going to be the death of me!!Ethics and Decision Making3 years ago in Personal More Like This
We get in this circle, the teacher brings up a topic and we share out opinion.
It wouldn't be so bad, but I'm in a class of 30 females, and 1 male.
And you know us girls, we are always right--about everything.
I have to write a one page opinion paper each week on subjects like abortion and same sex marriage. Then the fallowing week I have to read it out loud. I like keeping my opinions to myself,--or you know, on here, it's safer that way.-shrugs-
And while I'm on this subject, I'll just tell you all one thing I really hate about close minded people:
When you get onto the subject of gays and lesbians ( Which was pretty much avoided yesterday ) and people say, "Well, as long as they don't come onto me...."
...And they never exactly finish.
Like what the hell are you going to do if I told you I found you attractive and wanted to take you out to lunch? Are you going to beat me up or call me a derogatory name?
Evil Westboro Baptist Church leader is deadThe head honcho of that church Fred Phelps passed away today.Evil Westboro Baptist Church leader is dead1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You do not realize how much of a relief this is to a lot of people who were against this guy and his church!
If you guys haven't head about them, the Westboro Baptist Church is known for the extreme anti-gay and hatred for America. These people says that God hates everybody. They were happy for 9/11, they are glad for dead soldiers! These people are crazy! They are unmerciful to other people and their beliefs. This is like an anti-everything church. Everyone hates this church and so do I. Here's some more info about the hater church:
I like to believe that God had something to do with Fred Phelps' death. This guy no doubt was full of wickedness that he had to be smitten. And I'm hoping that with the leader of the church gone, that the people of the church will scatter and decrease. A lot of people are probably happy that the leader of the most h

You might deserve an Olympic gold medal.
But you're never, ever going to deserve a Daily Deviation.
neuropls what is this.
Dudes, a DD is a feature, not an award. There's no objective standard that goes 'here you deserve a big prize now.' Hell, it's not even about the artist being a talented young newbie or a curmudgeonly old fart.
It's about the art.
It's about bringing underexposed art to the forefront for a whole day—yeah, as far as features go this one is probably a bigger deal than being in a journal only twenty people click on, but at the end of the day it's still a feature. Nothing wrong with getting excited over it (or peeing yourself or wondering whom you managed to piss off), but it's not exactly resume material.
So now that we've gotten that out of the way…. There's the occasiona

The Last Shooter: Spec Ops the LineThis discussion came to me while watching a walkthrough of this game and I felt like putting it somewhere. The Last Shooter: Spec Ops the Line3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm generally a fan of Shooter video games. They're fast paced, require a certain amount of skill to complete (the good ones) and are exciting to play with gorgeous vistas, creative monsters, and sometimes interesting plots to unravel like in Bioshock, which I still consider one of the best game plots of all time. Shooters to me are less aggravating then fighting games, less time consuming then roleplaying games, less lonesome generally then puzzle games if you can find friends to co-op. Certainly Shooters have gotten a little samey over the past few thanks to everyone either copying Modern Warfare or Gears of War but some of my fondest gaming memories remain co-opping with my brothers on Halo 3 and having a blast.
I've seldom played a straight up military shooter. My confusion originally lay in why anyone would want to play a video game with such a limited arse
Why You Should Keep WritingWhy You Should Keep Writing3 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
Q: What do you guys think of my story so far? Should I keep going?
This seems to be a very popular question. I'll argue it's a useless question, and explain why.
This reply is directed at new writers, and despite the tone that may follow, I really do intend to be sincere and helpful. I was once a newbie, too. And although I'm certainly not going to claim to be great, I've fallen flat on my face enough times to learn how to pick myself up and produce something I'm proud of.
Here's why you need to not ask this question. You're either going to succeed, or you're going to fail. But, either way, you'll be better off for having:
2. Figured out how to motivate yourself to continue
3. Completed the entire first run of the story yourself
1 ~ I can speculate that there are plenty of people out there who are afraid of failure. I know first-hand. I'm not a professional writer. I teach mathematics. And it is my job every Fall to convince a hu

I never ever wanted to write this post but I get the feeling that now is the time I should. Today was pretty much the straw that broke the camels back for me. I've done a lot of learning lately. Some might think I'm lucky but most days I'm quite sad inside because I miss being oblivious to the realities of things.
I'm not going to be modest or stoic in this post. I'm sick of being modest about how much I do for NiGHTS. I might not update my website much anymore but nobody other than a secret few know just how much I really did/do for the NiGHTS franchise, and the character himself. I pretty much gave up more than half my life for the guy and this company. I am honestly one of the most LOYAL and hard working fans I know. Where a lot of people might complain about something they don't like or think is unjust- I'd get up off my ass and go do something real about it even if it made people hate me or cause tro

Time for us to talk about one of my favorite mangas (that I was too lazy to talk about last time . God , can I be sloppy when it comes to write stuff...): HELLSING . And by that I mean BOTH manga and TV series. Seriously I am disgusted by all the crap that gets thrown at the latter . It didn't follow the manga ? Well bouhouhou ... it still managed to give me something worth my time and money , and it has aspects the manga definitely lacks . Most purists can get so fucking grating , don't you think ? ...
For those who just joined the course , here is the main plot : The story revolves around an extremely powerful vampire named Alucard, used by the Hellsing organization, to destroy less refined vampires that actively threaten and attack the mortal populace in Britain. While the short TV series stays within the bound

Seriously, too often do I get emails and notes regarding to doing work for a stranger or having a stranger asking permission to use my art, and often their compensation will either be non existent, or potential exposure.
And I know I've made a journal entry about this last year but still it never hurts to remind ourselves of what's happening with our industry.
I can't stress enough of how frustrating it is trying to explain to those who are doing work for free because they're desperate, or those looking for artists to work with but have zero idea how this whole infrastructure operates.
If you are a person seeking an artist/craftsman's time and service, be prepared to offer compensation just as you will be needing to pay after eating at a restaurant, or having a plumber coming into your home to fix your clogged pipes. And if you're new to seeking out the aid of an artist for your project. Be

When I was in fifth grade,
a man followed my brother home.
I remember being on the computer
in the office right by the front door.
At first, it was a frantic knock.
My brother and his seventh grade friends
were quickly getting off their bikes,
my brother telling me to open the door.
I took my time getting up,
thinking they had forgotten their keys.
claiming to be neighborhood watch,
followed my brother and his friends home.
He saw them playing tag on their bicycles
on their own school campus,
yelled at them for trespassing,
threatening to call the cops,
and when no police arrived
he decided to take matters into his own hands.
He followed them home.
In his car.
He tailed them, but they saw him.
They tried to avoid him,
but when they got home
he pulled up and got out of his car
and ran up to our front door.

The Greenscreen BudgetSo it's been pretty obvious that the VFX company that did the effects for the Life Of Pi underwent huge financial disaster and a large layoff among its very talented staff. It brought the world's attention to a much needed part of our movie industry, and that part is where all the fictional aspects of movies became a reality, so to speak. The Greenscreen Budget2 years ago in Personal More Like This
However, this is NOT something that only happened yesterday or this week. VFX studios declare bankruptcy ALL the time due to various yet clearly avoidable reasons such as an over staffing of management and under staffing of artists and technicians. Studios constantly underbidding each other simply because the budget just can't afford over 40 mins of quality CGI but needs over 70 mins of it.
Now from a smaller picture, we can clearly see that there is an unequal distribution of budget and funds, and due to poor management of pipelines and a lack of constant client work can put the entire studio out of a job in today's already disastrous economy. But wh
