:iconthesmallwonder: Some thoughts from Katie (thesmallwonder)
Spring has sprung and April showers have started raining down here at HQ.
Winter rain makes me want to crawl back into bed, get a hot cup of coco, and read a book all day. But there’s something different about April showers...
Maybe it’s because it’s less cold outside, or that the days are longer, but springtime rain makes me want to play in puddles.I want to go outside and smell the fresh air, and I just feel rejuvenated. Spring is a time for me to dust off old projects and start new ones. Forget New Years, April's when I get inspired!
I want to hear from you!
Do you play in the rain?
Does spring inspire you?

I would like to state how community flow is really important for me. No, not only for me but to many people. Just many people aren't aware of this.
I think the interactions between the artist and watchers - and whole community relationships thing - is one of the most vital parts that our creations exist. Writers have fans, travelers, artists, illustrators, companies, fashion bloggers etc. and so on. You may call it as a "fanbase", thus I prefer to not call because "fans" and "fanbase" has a lot of negative stereotypes and image about blindly screaming "minors". I'd prefer to name differently, because I do not view them as minors. Absolutely. I view them as an every worthy human on equal worth as the creator and that's a fact. They are just guests to

It’s been described as similar to the experience of “love at first sight,”

Reading up David Hume's texts on "Problems of Induction" inspired me to compile an essential list pertaining to systematic workings of (canon) Sherlock Holmes in my personal journal, and :iconwindmaedchen: encouraged me to share it here; so here we are.
Let's face it: I'm not a criminal investigator. Far from it! However, especially because I'm more of an artist, writer, literature lover and conceptionist, the philosophy of logic appeals to me as much as the philosophy of... well, everything! I've compiled the following list of self-applied codes of Sherlock Holmes -- a character imagined by the ingenious writer, physician and logician, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle -- from the canon, of certain axioms and theories to consider in contemplation and practice. These comma

i went to my Independent Research: Drawing class, which i signed up for late. so i didn't know quite what to expect, having not been to class yet. the only thing my professor told me to bring to class was a drawing i'd worked on or completed lately...
do you realize how vague that is? my mind went into overdrive. should i bring a large one that was more conceptual? should i grab a still-life? a comic? i was losing it. but then my dad, who is good friend with my professor, having been a grad student under his teaching, tells me to show my professor what i LIKE to do.
thus, i take the Hunger Games drawing i've been coloring, and a completed Blaire design.
i was so embarrassed when i showed him my cartoons, that i started rambling about how i'd like to go into animation, and he stops me. he asks me what materials i need to do that. i kinda freeze, cause i wasn't anticipating that at all. but then i spit out that i hadn't thought about anything spec

Write In Chat Events This Week! We're hosting two chat events at CRLiterature this week! They will be write ins so come ready to write.Write In Chat Events This Week!3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
For those who need a refresher, inknalcohol say, "A write in is when we're all in the chat, but working on our own writing at the same time. Like word wars, but without the timer or need for a word count. It's mellow and laid back. But if you need an assist, there are peoples in the chat to help you out." It encourages socializing, and writing progress. There are no rules and it's a friendly atmosphere, which makes it a great opportunity to work and get to know other writers. :

The Photographers Guide : Taking Quality PhotosThe camera is just a tool, it's not magical. You don't even need a DSLR to be a photographer. Anyone can take a picture on any device, and it be considered art. It is how you do this that most effects your outcome. For example, take me. I don't own a dedicated camera - used my camera phone - the Nokia N8 - for each and every photograph i have clicked that is in my gallery. Sounds odd ? Well its the truth. When you click and hold then drag in/out or up/down on the white puck it will change the size of your brush, if enabled in preferences it can also change your brush opacity. I have this disabled because it annoys me sometimes but it can be extremely helpful. The black puck, will change the colour you are using if you click hold and drag, up, down, left or right. Artist ConfessionsI was talking with a friend recently and it made me think about things. Maybe this isn't the place for a post like this but DA is really the only online site I use so I have no other output.Artist Confessions3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I will start off by saying that DA is a really great site. I've had so many wonderful experiences on this site and met many people that I'm so thankful for knowing. The support I've received has been amazing, and when I joined, I never thought in a million years that I'd have the amount of followers I do or that people would like my art to the extent they do. It's remarkable and gives me a wonderful feeling.
Unfortunately, I've also noticed some alarming trends in recent years. I'm not sure if it's just me but I feel like the internet is becoming a place of increased 'meanness'. It's not necessarily that people are becoming meaner; it's more that the internet makes it easy for people to anonymously post hurtful things towards artists/people they dislike for whatever reason (it removes our inhibitio
