Chapter 1: Ember
"Hurry up Flame!" I yelled over my shoulder impatiently. "Do you want to go help the legendary purple dragon like your uncle asked or not?!"
Flame groaned as he climbed up a couple more feet behind me. "But Ember, why do we have to climb? Why can't we just fly?!"
"You can fly...if you want to get your wings burnt off!" I huffed as I shot up a couple more ledges on the side of the enormous volcano.
I could hear Flame grumble slightly, then all of a sudden, his claws were gripping me under my arms as he lifted me up into the air off of the volcanic rock. I shrieked more in surprise rather than fright.
I scowled up at him as he flew sharply to the right of the volcano. "What was that for?!" I screeched as he beat his wings faster, harder.
He jerked his head in the direction behind us. I shrieked again.
Flame had grabbed me just in time to save me from a giant beast made of rock and lava that was climbing blindly up the side of the volc

Chapter 18: Cynder
I yanked and pulled on the chain. It felt like years had passed since I had last seen Malefor, since he had created and killed Spyro.
In that time, I'd tried breaking the chain any and all ways. My tail blade, claws, and elements didn't work. I had flown up and up, but the chain never ended, never changed length.
I sighed, and began to sob again. My body shook slightly, and I could feel my prison beginning to feel more solid and real. I looked down at my body and saw that I was starting to fade.
I'm dying I thought in defeat. And there's nothing I can do about it
Come now, Cynder, you know that's not true at all.
I looked up and, to my dismay, Malefor had revealed himself again. I glared fiercely at him. "I'd rather die than let you have Spyro." I spat.
Oh really? he said, circling me. You'd rather leave poor Spyro all alone in the world? To never love again?
"He'd be just

Sam darted into the dark alley, hiding the precious jewel within her cloak. She knew that any moment now, the Dukes soldiers would be scouring the city in search of her. Her mother had become ill, so lately it had been her job to support her broken family.
Sam didn't particularily LIKE robbing from the Duke and Dutchess, but she had no other choice. Everyone else in the city were peasants, but not to the same degree as Sam. The only others that Sam could possibly rob would be the widowed Queen, but that would be near impossible since she was very protective of her castle.
Sams bare feet screamed in pain as she dashed through the streets, and her mind wandered to the Queen. No one ever really discovered what happened to her husband, but ever since she had gotten triple the amount of guards and rarely left the castle walls. Rumor had it that her son, the prince, had been confined to his room for his entire life since the death of the Ki

I cringed in pain and desperation as Malefor's claw bore me into the wall as if I was sandpaper on wood. I felt my muscles begin to relax under him, my eyes beginning to roll back into my head.
In an instant, everything that had happened to me since I had first felt dark power pulse through me played back in my head. Cynder tackling me out of the dark beam of purple, me saving myself, Cynder and Sparx from the Well of Souls with a time-crystal, being asleep for what felt like minutes when it was really years.
Then, flashes of my new life since my awakening. Fighting side-by-side with Cynder against our captors, meeting Hunter, discovering Avalar and Warfang, reuniting with the Guardians, only to be torn away from them and Sparx again only moments later.
And then my mind played back some of my latest memories; fighting alongside Cynder in the Burned Lands, traveling with her through the Floating Islands, the long, yet silent, flight t

Chapter 2: Flame
I stared in awe as I saw the spirit of Uncle Ignitus that stood behind the purple dragon that he had sent me to come help. I tried to tell Ember that it was too dangerous for her to come along, but she batted those irresistible eyelashes at me, and I couldn't help but let her come along.
Ember stood by my side, warmth projecting from her light rose scales, and I felt glad that I had brought her. I looked at her quickly through my peripheral vision, making sure she was okay. She seemed shocked at the fact that the spirit of my uncle was only a couple hundred feet away.
"What is this place?" Ember asked, talking more to herself rather than asking me. Her question WAS something to wonder though. What kind of place could we possibly be in where the spirit of a dead dragon could co-exist with living dragons?
Suddenly, I noticed that Ignitus had disappeared, and the purple dragon was now looking at the darker, more slender one. He then be
