War StoriesI'm in the mood for some daddy!Victus and baby!Tarquin. Please forgive my family spam!
An insistent chirp rang out in front of Victus and he slowly lowered his datapad, just enough that he could see his four-year-old son gleaming up at him with bright olive eyes. He sighed, dropping the datapad onto the end table and turning his full attention to Tarquin. "What is it?"
Tarquin took the discarded datapad as his signal to climb up into the armchair and settle into his father's lap. "Story."
"I just told you one yesterday," Victus muttered, laying a hand heavily on top of the boy's head.
"That was a long time ago!" Tarquin protested, clasping his tiny talons around his father's wrist. "Tell me one today!"
Victus hummed softly, pretending to debate over Tarquin's request. After a pregnant pause, he said, "Fine. What kind of story?" Tarquin's eyes lit up, his little mandibles flaring. "And don't say war stories."
"War stories," the boy chirped.

MiraclesFor the moment the battlefield on Menae was quiet. Garrus took solace in the silence and allowed himself to rest against a few propped up battlement canisters, his sniper rifle lying casually over his lap. He tried very hard not to look in the direction of Palaven, where pools of fire burned away everything that his people had worked so hard to build over the thousands of years their civilization had spawned. It was hard not to, and once in a while his eyes would gaze over toward Cipritine despite his attempts to look everywhere but. It was hard to miss: the largest lake of fire and destruction visible. But from what Garrus had heard, other home worlds were faring far worse than his.Miracles3 years ago in Romance More Like This
His concerns extended towards his friends, as it often did in times of quiet restlessness, whom he had heard little from since the invasion had begun.
"Earth is ten times worse than this."
Garrus peered over to his left. Two PFCs sat across from each other, sharing rations.

"I'm proud of you kid," said Anderson.

"I won't let you down," said Shepard confidently.

Commander Shepard was used to long days. As she rubbed the back of her neck on her way toward the elevator she reflected that people seemed to think she was invulnerable. When you were the savior of the galaxy several times over, people tended to forget that you needed little things like food and rest. It was as if they expected you to be able to live on heroism alone.
At least she finally had some time to herself. After chasing a group of slavers down, coming back to find the Alliance brass was waiting to speak to her over the comm, and arguing with them for another hour, she was able to end her shift. She was going to go back to her cabin, finally get a hot shower, then fall into bed.
However, when she finally reached the elevator, Traynor

Silence .well, not perfect silence but a familiar and comforting one nonetheless. The hum of the ship and its crew going about their daily activities was something Shepard had come to find a certain peace in. The Alliance had given her a sense of belonging and the people she met and served with gave her a sense of family. Following in her parents footsteps gave her a sense of purpose. She never expected to come as far as she had. Still, it made her sad to know that her father would never know or see what his daughter had accomplished. Standing in the cockpit with Joker looking out the window, watching the stars streak by in the vast expanse of space, she was lost in thought
"Commander? ....Joker to Shepard .Hello?"
" ..what?" she absently answered still staring out the window.
"Oh nothing, you know, just trying to fly the ship here. Waiting for your orders while the Reapers hunt our ass and Cerberus gets away the usual."

"Okay," he answered, his undertones giving away his annoyance.
"Garrus Vakarian! You're not listening to me!" she shrieked, shouting his name just like their mother did when he took apart something he shouldn't have.
"Spirits, Sol, yes I am! I heard you. The first six times, and I'm going to hear you the seventh, too. I get it! Now stop--"
"Who you talking to, Vakarian?" Shepard asked, leaning over his shoulder, trying to get a peek at the console.
"Oh, is that...looks like I gotta go, Garrus. Talk to you soon. Love you, Garbear. Bye."

At her words, Garrus froze, his eyes snapping to hers. Though they'd only been together for a week, he knew in himself that Kat was the one for him, but he had ever only dared to hope that he would hear those words from her, especially so soon

ME: SurpriseShepard was not surprised to find Garrus away from the control console in the main battery when she walked in. It had been a bit of a shock at first, but she was glad he had figured out that he didn't need to be calibrating that damn gun all the time. The only downside was having to hunt all over the ship for him when she wanted his company, although he had taken a liking to the lounge area, making that her usual first stop when looking for him.ME: Surprise3 years ago in Romance More Like This
This time, however, she quickly realized that it wouldn't be needed. A glanced showed that he was over at the workbench that he been installed on the right wall. He'd half turned to see her come in and seemed frozen now.

In which Garrus listens to Joker and tries to find the perfect Valentine's Day present for Shepard.
It was one of the stranger sights Garrus Vakarian had seen on the Citadel. Odd enough to make him stop in place and wonder if he should be in amazed, confused, or slightly intimidated. Probably all three at once, he decided at last.
He had never seen so much pink in his life. Well, pink mixed with plenty of reds, whites, and the occasional smattering of purple. This was the third human shop he had seen with those decorations (although this was the gaudiest one to date),and if the crowds around it were any indication, he was going to have to admit that maybe Joker had actually been serious when he insisted that Valentines Day was one of the most important of human holidays.
When the pilot had first mentioned Valentines Day to him, Garrus had been more than a little skeptical. It sounds exactly like the kind of joke the man would

"But are you really, Garrus? Are you really okay to just leave things as they are?" She asked and he sighed.
"Not okay but... She's a quarian and he's a turian. It could never work properly. They're too... different. That's why she turned him down for the human guy and why she keeps friendzoning him." He said and Shepard frowned at the familiarity of the words before she remembered that she had been the one to first say them.

On her first night together with Garrus, Shepard had been mildly concerned about the talons that she knew turians possessed. She trusted Garrus with all of her heart and knew that he never intentionally harm her, but there was that instinctual distrust of sharp claws near her softer human flesh. Of course she had been thinking of entirely different things by the time that evening reached the stage where his gloves came off, and then she didn't' have the luxury to think about minor details until after they had blow the Collector base to bits.
Being under house arrest had given her more than enough time to think, and Garrus was one of the happy memories she had she to stave on the crushing boredom. One of the questions those memories brought up was if turian anatomy charts and Alliance descriptions of turian talons as 'vicious natural weapons' were overly exaggerated or if Garrus had blunted his just for her.

"Fine," she replied. "Minor burns."
"Good. Garrus, you have a minute?" Shepard asked hesitantly. She wasn't really sure how to handle the information she's been given. Hell, if Tacita's previous identity was some big government secret, Garrus and Sol might not even know about it. Shepard wondered for a minute if maybe she shouldn't even bring it up, but her tense demeanor had already put Garrus on full alert.
"Of course," he said quickly. "Is something wrong?"
"No, I just wanted to talk," Shepard said, trying to even her tone.

Okay so this is my one-shot that I did for greenmamba5's art trade meme. This is the scenario that she gave me:
Garrus and his dad don't really like the idea of Chellick being with Solana. For Garrus it might be understandable (because he knows Chell's faults since they worked together), but Chellick's actually a nice guy so why doesn't Dad like him?
I'm thinking there was a misunderstanding of some sort that made Papa think Chellick wasn't fit to date his little girl.
Title: A Drink, A Drug and A Lick
Garrus and Chellick slinked out of Pallin's office. The rest of the officers on duty gave them both a wide berth; talking and snickering amongst each other. It was no secret that the pair was a notoriously infamous pain the in ass for Executor Pallin. Every time the two turian Detectives went into the Executor's office, it was pretty much guaranteed that the rest of the office got a live audio play-by-play of the duo's latest antics.

The war is over. The Reapers are dead. Now Shepard and Garrus have a chance to think about the future they want with their son.)
"I", Shepard thought, "hate sitting still". Especially when it was something that was being forced on her by outside circumstances. Yet, her she was, sitting cross legged on the floor of the apartment , back against the couch, with a baby sleeping sprawled across her legs. She sighed and looked down at her son. It really wasn't fair to blame her current mood on Aetius. Not like he was really forcing her to stay still. She could probably move him if she was careful; she'd done it before when he was napping and she needed to do something.
It was just that right now she didn't see the point of disturbing him even with all her restless energy. She really didn't have anything else to do. At least, nothing important

Kiana Shepard sat, swinging back and forth on a park swing. The park was quiet and still. She was the only one swinging at the old park. Kiana had just arrived at the Citadel. Her brothers were already in the Alliance military, the Alliance didn't think she was the twins' sister. So she was sent to rot in a broken down orphanage.
Kiana stole away as much time as she could and snuck to the old park. It was a peaceful little place as always. The park was in a darker corner of an alley. It was a couple of blocks from the orphanage. Kiana was upset when she found out her oldest brother, John, had died on a mission to take over a merc base on Illium's outer rim territories.
An Alliance soldier had made his way to the orphanage to break the news to Kiana this morning. She had felt sick to her stomach when she was told and left the orphanage right after lunch and came to the park. Kiara swung her legs back and

Spoken language is reminiscent of Latin, uses primary vocal cords
Sub-language consists of two types:
-------phrases: sounds that are not spoken words but can be assigned a spoken meaning. These will cause static over a translator.
-------vocalizations: sounds that convey a mood and are not directly translatable. These can be heard even with a translator running.
Spoken language is almost always accompanied by underlying sounds that further emphasize ideas or tones. Species that do not use undertones in their speech do not currently have software capable of translating these sounds. Unlike elcor, turian vocalizations are sounded out too rapidly to be translated in any way. However, translators can be adjusted to filter over the sounds so that a non-turian listener could

Garrus, Victus and a moment between battles on Menae.))
Menae was one of the worst battles Garrus had ever been involved in. Oh sure, Saren and the Collectors had been bad, but at least he had know where the goal was with those. Here, there was no goal, no end to the fighting. Just wave after wave of enemies that you hoped you could hold out against until a miracle happened. That was what he kept thinking they were going to need to defeat the Reapers, an outright miracle.
Surprised I can sleep at all with that on my mind, was the thought that ran through his mind as he rolled out of his bunk to make way for the next shift to come in for downtime. All personnel currently on the moon had been assigned to various rotating shifts to make sure that there was always someone fighting, and that everyone got some sort of rest. Of course, with the limited space that meant everything was, very, very tightly scheduled.
