want to see featured, have any art you want included or just want to
know more about a group featured - note me!

Call for Fanart! The Murder ComplexHi Divergent-Fans!Call for Fanart! The Murder Complex2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I bring you a message from Lindsay Cummings, author of the upcoming novel The Murder Complex, which will be published by Harpercollins (publisher of Divergent) and Greenwillow next year!
Lindsay is looking for fan artworks of her characters from The Murder Complex, to show to her agent and display on the future fanart page of her website! Here's what the author has to say about her novel and its protagonists:
"The book totally has the feel of Divergent and The Hunger Games.
Meadow Woodson is a 15 year old girl who has long, curly silverish hair and grey eyes. She carries a dagger, lives on a houseboat in the sea, and has a black barcode tattoo on her forehead. She also has a "fearless" tatoo on her forearm. She's usually covered in cuts and bruises, and she has little knife scars all over her arms.

“When I left high school, I had all my plans to go to college, but I had no money. And I decided then, the best thing for me to do is not worry about getting money to go to college — I will educate myself. I walked down the street, I walked into a library, I would go to the library three days a week for ten years and I would educate myself. It’s all FREE, that’s the great thing about libraries! Most of you can afford to go to college, but if you wanna educate yourself completely, go to the library and educate yourself. When I was 28 years old, I graduated from Library.”

okay, so after a swarm of questions many of which left me with my jaw on the floor... i realized something...
people are afraid of pushing a button to see what it does
okay, to backtrack first. i am self taught in photoshop, had no books had no tutorials, had a borrowed i think 7... dunno which was before cs2 when i started, i learned it by ....pressing a button and seeing what it does
i explored, i tried stuff out.
i had no teachers no schools no education on this stuff
i saw a button i pressed it.
that is how about 9 years ago when i first decided to try and apply digital coloring to early pages of ravine, i was dabbing paint on a page. i came to the point where i had to paint a waterfall. so , just for fun i tried putting scattering on the foam brush i made, a simple thing. and i was gonna see if smudge could be scattered. it had a weird side effect.
How is your Chroma? As artists we all know that color is our friend, whether full spectrum, monochromatic, or simply black and white. But knowing just how to use this very special friend can be frustrating at times or just downright confusing (trust me, I've been there plenty before!) This blog is for those of us who work traditionally (not to worry my futuristic friends, I'll be writing a blog specifically for you as well!) Here are some terms you need to become acquainted with: chroma, value, tint, shade, and intensity/saturation.How is your Chroma?2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
What is Chroma?
Chroma is the Greek word for "color", it refers to the purity or intensity of a color.
What is Value?
Value is the lightness or darkness of a color.
What is a Tint?
Tinting a color means lightening it by adding white.
What is a shade?
Shading a color means darkening it by adding black.
What is intensity and saturation?
This refers to the strength of
The Fairy Tale, A Lifelong ResonanceA thousand years tradition of scaring children at bedtime continues for children of all ages. News of the discovery of 500 “new” fairy tales collected over 150 years ago [link] in Germany and locked away in a forgotten archive has me thinking about the enduring importance of these narrative treasures in the lives of human societies worldwide. To win you must write a character biography of what they were before the apocalypse, how they first encountered a zombie and what they are like now. They can be whatever kind of person your heart desires (even a villain) or if you chose you could also do an animal that could serve as a companion to the main cast. It's not necessary but it is preferred that you draw a picture of your survivor/s as well, or include a very good description of what they look like. Please no one word descriptions. Getting the Most out of dA: CommentingUsually, when you read something involving 'Commenting', you think of deviations and the commenting platform that allows other members of the community to voice their thoughts and opinions on the art shown. However, what is pretty evident, and something that most of us may forget, is that deviantART runs on the ability to give and get comments, be it on pieces of artwork, our profile pages, forums, and everywhere else in between.Getting the Most out of dA: Commenting2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
In a sense, without the ability to give and get comments, deviantART wouldn't be much of a website, much less #1 of online art communities around. Comments are not solely the cause of what makes deviantART what it is, but it has a huge impact on a lot of things. By giving and getting comments, not only do we interact with other members to really make this a community, we also have the ability to get our voices heard.
It's quite an odd concept with us all facing screens, typing out our thoughts and opinions, but one thing we shouldn't forget is that commen

How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.How to : Find Art Thieves2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.

Order now: http://jisuk.deviantart.com/journal/33894983/
Edit 07/22/10: Wow! Sorry about the huge delay in this project. Thesis hit me like a ton of bricks and I didn't have a single spare second to devote to anything else. We wanted to let you all know that the ordering website is 99% set up and we just need to finalize a couple of details before the decks are on sale. Orders will begin sometime in the NEXT FEW DAYS and will end on Aug 31. After Aug 31 it will be impossible to ever order these again, so start saving those dimes! Keep an eye out for a journal update from me very soon. Thanks, everyone!
Edit 12/21/09: So it looks like these won't be ready for Christmas. The website is all ready to go, I just need to put together all of the stories in some kind of .txt form. I wish I had the time for this, but my thesis is kicking my butt and I won't be able to do it anytime soon. If anyone would like to volunteer to help me put together all o

Today when checking my notifications on deviantart I found the following comment: (I think this kind of outrageous comments)
How to get allot of attention in Deviant Art:
2#-have a sexy body
3#-take pictures of yourself nude
4#-take picture 2 girls kissing each other
5#- act cute in the comment section
6#-Have allot of tattoos
this is my answer:
Learn to see things from another perspective:
1#- I'm not bisexual
2#-the body is art
3#-I take nude photos for where you see vulgarity I see art
4#-two girls kissing is the sexiest out there. hey what's wrong with that? There are sexual tendencies and they respect them.
5#I'm friendly with everyone because I am an educated woman
6#-I do not care what you think about my tattoos, I do it to capture memories in my skin that you like best
My work art is about free speech and my images are not all naked, I am part of a community of girls and I promote the photos, we are models with different stereotypes of beauty, sorry i
5 Tips to Maintaining and Gaining WatchersFor those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.5 Tips to Maintaining and Gaining Watchers5 years ago in Art Features More Like This
1. When uploading deviations, do not bombard your watchers. If you upload only one or two a day, or even one or two a week, you will get more comments as well as more attention. People will have more time to comment and more time in general, whereas if you upload all in one go, they will most likely delete and just comment on a few.
2. Spend time on your artwork. Once youve finished a piece, it doesnt stop there. Youve got to consider the title, which impacts the piece significantly and the artists comment. Is art ever finished? Ask yourself that q
